- Kyle froze when he saw her, his eyes widening in disbelief. The emotion on his face was unguarded. His confusion was obvious, almost painful to witness. It was as if the ground had been ripped from under him, and he was struggling to stay upright.
- “Ella?” His voice was a hoarse whisper, as though her name had clawed its way out of him.
