Chapter 6 A Tool For The Pack

  • Julia POV
  • Immediately she announced this to the crowd, my mother shot to her feet, her face contorted with disgust. She stared at me, her eyes filled with hatred and rage. I knew what she was thinking - that I had brought shame and dishonor to our family, that I was unworthy of the pack. I hung my head, unable to meet her gaze.
  • “No, I am not a stealer.” I shake my head continuously, looking from Arthur to the witch as I give him a pleading look.
  • “Guards!” Arthur called, and immediately two hefty men came out of the crowd, each holding a weapon.
  • “Arrest her and lock her up,” Arthur commanded, and the two men rushed towards me and held me by my hands.
  • “Arthur, please don't let them take me away, we can sort this out.” I pleaded hoping he would tell them to free me, but he didn't, rather he turned away from me.
  • “Mother please, Father please, I am not what they think of me.” I pleaded as the guard dragged me past my parents, and they also turned their back on me like I was not their child.
  • They are all ashamed of me.
  • Every eye was pinned on me and a loud murmuring filled the entire hall as different male wolves began to swarm to me just to mate with me, but the two guards managed to take me away.
  • She is a stealer.
  • She has no wolf.
  • What a dirty personality.
  • Those are their words as I was taken away.
  • ***********
  • Third-Person POV
  • Three hours later the door to the prison in which Julia was locked flung open; she quickly stood up from the cold hard floor on which she had been laying; she raised her head and her eyes met with Arthur's own. The bastard, he still has the gut to face her after locking her up here in this lonely room for more than three hours.
  • Silent descends on them as Julia watches him walk towards her, his eyes fixed on her, reading through his facial expressions; the only thing she can see in his eyes is disappointment, regret, and hatred.
  • “Please, you have to let me go. I am not what they called me to be,” she said in the calmest voice, trying to make him understand. She was not expecting all this ill-treatment from him. They are lovers and in a situation like this, he shouldn't have treated her like some piece of garbage he was supposed to stand up for her.
  • “Julia, you have to accept the truth, everything the witch said earlier about you was true.” He paused for a while taking another close look at her, “I can't feel the aura of your wolf you don't have a wolf, and you are a… Stealer.” He broke the most painful truth to her.
  • “I thought you loved me, why did you have to keep me locked up here?” She muttered with a cracked voice, feeling disappointed at her own world.
  • “I am trying to protect you.”
  • “Protect me, from what?” She yelled at him, her brow furrowed in shock.
  • “To keep the widowed werewolves from you.”
  • “What does that have to do with this?” She asked, confusedly.
  • “As a stealer, it symbolizes that your scent will be able to attract widowed and lone werewolves, and you can be attacked and forced to mate with other werewolves who are yet to be mated, so we need to find you your true mate as soon as possible. Otherwise, you will be targeted by other lone wolves and forcibly be mated to them.” Arthur explained to her and immediately her mind drove her to what happened earlier when other male wolves all had their eyes on her.
  • Why would life be so unfair to her?
  • She quickly grabbed Arthur's hand, her eyes sparkling with joy as she stared at him. “Then let's be mated, we are both lovers, right? You can take me as yours instead of others.” She quickly brings up the best suggestion, her eyes fixed on him. This was the best time she needed him most. He needs to save her from all this mess.
  • “No Julia, we can't be mated, we are no mates.” He shakes his head, pulling away from her as he stares into her blue ocean eyes.
  • “But we are lovers.” She cuts him off as he remains silent, not knowing what to say.
  • Julia was taken aback by his reaction. She was finding it hard to put his words together. She trusted Arthur, he loved her, and she loved him too, but why was he rejecting her?
  • “Please, Arthur, you are the only one that can save me from this mess.” She half yelled, trying to pull the tears gathering at the corner of her eyes away.
  • “We can't be mated,” Arthur said, his voice cold and final. “As a stealer, you're not worthy of being a pack, Luna.” Julia couldn't believe her ears. Her heart felt like it had stopped, and her world seemed to slow down around her. The man she had trusted and loved had betrayed her, and she felt utterly broken. The weight of his words crushed her, and she could barely hear anything above the pounding of her heartbeat. She felt like she was in a nightmare, unable to wake up.
  • Is this how being betrayed and rejected feels? Like your heart is about to be ripe out from your chest.
  • Arthur gently moved away from her, and he stood up from the floor standing above her, then an idea came to his head. This is the best time he can get what he needs, he can use her to get what he always wanted from Alpha Wolfe. He’s going to send her to his pack and use her to get something valuable from him. He'll use her to expand his territory. She will be a good tool to his pack.
  • A smile spread on Arthur's face as these ideals kept popping into his head.
  • “You can be mated to Alpha Wolfe's brother. He is a lone wolf who lost his true mate many years ago." Arthur informed her in the calmest voice.
  • Julia's nose twitches for some seconds, this always happens whenever she is nervous or shocked. How can he bring out such a suggestion by sending her to the ruthless Alpha Wolfe's pack? It is rumored that he kills without mercy. She had never met him before, but she feared him due to the rumors she had heard about him. Everyone feared him; he was the king of all the werewolves' packs.
  • He is the Alpha king.
  • “No, Arthur! You can't send me to that pack. The Alpha is ruthless, wicked, and inhuman, he is going to kill me!” She panicked, giving him a pleading look.
  • “He'll treat you well, Julia,” Arthur said, his tone placating as he tried to convince her. He took a step forward, closing the distance between them, and lifted her chin with his hand. “He loves his brother dearly,” he said softly, looking into her eyes. “And he'll take care of you as if you were his own sister.”
  • “Please, don't make me go,” she begged, looking into his brown eyes with desperation. Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded with him. “Please don't send me to him.”
  • “This is for your good, Julia. Marry Wolfe's brother, and he is going to treat you with…"
  • “No!” she cried, her voice full of pain and anger. “I won't marry him. You're only using me for your own selfish purposes. You're trying to take advantage of me, just because I'm a stealer. I'm not a pawn in your game, to be traded away at your convenience. I thought you loved me, but now I see who you really are.” She pulled away from his grasp, tears streaming down her face. This wasn't how she'd planned today.
  • “You have no say in this, Julia,” he growled, his fingers tightening around her throat. “You will marry whoever I choose, and you will go wherever I send you. You are a disgrace to this pack, and I have the right to do with you as I please.” He held her in a vice-like grip, his eyes blazing with anger. She struggled to free herself, but his grip was too strong. She raised her eyes to his face, and was shocked by the fury she saw there. It was like looking at a stranger.
  • “Arthur, plea…please.” She whimpered as his grip around her neck became too tight for her to breathe.
  • "Get ready because you'll be leaving soon whether you like it or not.” Arthur threatened her before he let her go with force and without saying any more words he walked out of the prison room.
  • She coughed out, sucking in air greedily in disappointment as a silent muffle cry escapes from her lips; she covers her mouth with her hands trying not to make any sound as she keeps assuring herself that everything will be fine.
  • But will everything be fine when she is dealing with a greedy, scheming man like Arthur?
  • As soon as Arthur left the room, Julia's parents entered, accompanied by Maya. Her heart leaped at the sight of them, hoping they would help her, but her hope was quickly dashed. What happened next was something she could never have imagined.
  • Her mother rushed towards her, and she gave her three resounding hard slaps across her face.
  • “You're a disgrace to this family, we should never have adopted you. The only thing you bring upon us is shame, making this family a laughingstock all over the pack,” her mother yelled at her face, blaming her for everything.
  • But none of this was her fault, she never wished to be a stealer. She wished she had a better family that would understand her in a situation like this, but now everyone has left her, even the person she so much trusted and loved.
  • “Father, please take mother away.” Maya turned and faced her Dad, and he took her out of the prison room, but she wouldn't stop crying until they were both finally out.
  • “Maya, please help me out.” Julia laid down her pride and begged her sister. She just needs one person who will support her until she overcomes this moment. It's killing her slowly.
  • “You have to accept the offer of Arthur and go to Black Moon Pack. That is the only way you can make the family proud.”
  • “No, I can't, I can't marry someone who's not my true mate, besides he might end up killing me.”
  • “Does that even matter now? Maya raised a brow at her. “You're a stealer and can be mated to anyone”
  • “At least I still have one true mate out there.”
  • “You have to accept to marry him, Julia because you are already a disgrace to this family, to this pack!”
  • “No, I won't marry him. I can't go to the ruthless Alpha Wolfe's pack, I won't even last a day there.”
  • "Julia, can't you see what offer you have been given in a platter of gold, and you want to throw it away? Getting married to the brother of the alpha of the greatest pack is a very dignified thing,” Maya said, getting jealous of her sister. She wishes she were the one who had the opportunity to go to the Black Moon Pack. She has always wished to be the pack Luna.
  • “No Maya, I can't go. I don't want to be forced into marrying someone.” She cried, hoping her sister would understand her.
  • "You have to go, Julia. If you should continue staying in the pack, our family will be judged by other pack members because you are a stealer.”
  • A silent muffled cry escaped Julia's throat as she tried fighting the tears, but she couldn't hold it anymore and the tears came pouring down freely. She was rejected by her family, the person that she thought loved her genuinely, and even the whole pack members.
  • Tears kept dropping down her cheeks as she remained seated on the cold hard floor, thinking about how complicated her life had become.
  • Unexpectedly, the door to the prison room flung open again, and this time Arthur walked in with anger written all over his face.
  • “I have taken enough of your nonsense.” He hissed, and immediately he brought out an injection that contained wolfsbane without her notice he injected the wolfsbane into Julia intending to offer her to the black moon pack.
  • “The wolfsbane will weaken her.” He turned to face Maya, who now had a sinister wide smile on.
