Chapter 6 Are You That Brave?
- The gunfight was fierce and dangerous, and people kept falling like flies. Emerald felt weirdly calm while other women were crying and screaming.
- She couldn’t change anything. If Kenzo won, she’d live and end up being nothing but a product; if they lost, she’d die. She had nothing to lose, nothing to worry about, so it didn’t really matter to her.
- She stopped watching the gunfight and started looking at the tree vines which gracefully covered the outside of the big French window and the two moons above the trees.
- Wade led several men to the back and squatted beside Kenzo as he said. “Thanks.”
- “No need for that.” Kenzo sounded cold. “It’s my fault that you are being attacked in Hope City.”
- “Careful!” Emerald, who usually was quiet, suddenly shouted out loud to everyone’s surprise.
- Wade felt her soft body suddenly bump into his back with a weak groaning. He turned around and saw Emerald falling from his shoulder.
- Blood was trickling out of her pale fingers, which were covering her shoulder.... She looked like she was in extreme pain, frowning tightly with her eyes.
- “Bang!” A guard shot down the enemy who was hiding outside the window, then turned to Wade. “Mr. Mayor, this lady just took a bullet for you!”
- Wade carefully held her shoulders and waist. As he touched her body, he felt her flinching like if she was refusing the touch of a stranger.
- “How are you?” He asked in a deep voice. “Thank you, Miss Wilson, for what you did.”
- “I’m alright...” She stuttered, “no need to worry about me, Mr. Mayor...” She struggled in his arms.
- “It hurts...” She suddenly screamed with her eyes wide open.
- Wade presses her wound to control the bleeding. Maybe it was because the pain was too much to bear. She stopped struggling, accepting his help as she whimpered. “It’s too painful... I can’t pass out... Please, Mr. Mayor, hit me with something to make me pass out...”
- Wade found her request somewhat hilarious, and he tried to comfort her, “Don’t be afraid, the doctor is coming soon.” As he handed her over to another female member to take care of her and he went back to the gunfight again.
- Five minutes later, the guards of the mayor’s mansion and the military police force finally came. The gunshots stopped. The military police and doctors walked around to arrest the criminals and help the injured.
- The attackers who were still alive were taken to Kenzo and Wade.
- The police had broken their jaws to prevent them from killing themselves with poisons. The prisoners were kneeling grimly on the ground without fear.
- “These thugs won’t say anything,” Wade said. He looked at Kenzo and said in self-mockery. “It doesn’t matter. I have been the target of assassination so many times from so many different enemies and people willing to kill me. I was too careless, this being my first time coming to Hope City.”
- “They will talk.” Kenzo said calmly as he instructed his men to “take them down.”
- Wade grasped for Kenzo’s hands. Kenzo looked at him quietly.
- “Director Lane,” Wade spoke slowly word by word, “Even if they are evil, you can’t kill them. The judicial system is strict and impartial, so their crimes must be decided through an open trial.”
- “How I do things...” Without expression, Kenzo pulled back his hand, “is none of your business.”
- “You...”
- “Just relax,” Kenzo said slowly without looking at Wade. “My men know how to do these things and will keep them alive so that they can be in an open trial.”
- Emerald, who was lying on a stretcher wounded, was carried by. She was pale and hardly able to open her eyes, her eyelashes fluttering.
- Kenzo walked to her with his hands in the pocket, looking down at her.
- Emerald was drowsy from painkillers. However, when she saw his black suit, she suddenly put on a meek and humble smile and struggled to get up but was pressed back down by the doctor.
- “You can’t move today.” Kenzo looked at her small, pale face, “I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”
- “Sorry to bother you, my lord.” She forced a smile.
- He suddenly bent down, and with his warm breath upon her ear, he asked. “Did you just risk your own life for another? Are you that brave?”
- Emerald didn’t know how to answer. Her hands were holding the edge of the stretcher, she slowly let go.
- To Kenzo’s surprise, she smiled sweetly and weakly.
- She raised her head and looked into his eyes, trying to figure out what was going on. Finally, she was brave enough to face him for the first time. “My lord, I just thought that the person who saved the mayor’s life may not have to die for no reason.”

- The mansion of the Planet’s Director of Security Bureau was located at the most expensive location, halfway up a mountain alongside a river. There was a famous white building in the mansion.
- Criminals who had gotten out alive of this white building had spread the rumors that it was like a living hell inside that building and that they had wished to die rather than live in there. The military forces in charge of torturing their prisoners were called “Body Processing Machines.”
- When the sun was setting, and there was only a faint light in the sky, Kenzo was sitting in his black suit on the sofa on the top floor of the factory, leisurely drinking his tea.
- The military leader, robust men, walked up to Kenzo and waited for his order. Then, without raising his head, Kenzo asked. “Do you have the results?”
- Looking like a pile of flesh from a distance, there were dozens of men nailed on a ledge in different poses behind them.
- The policeman saluted Kenzo with blood on his hand. “My lord, according to their confession and other information we have, the assassination attempt seems to have been a plan of Wade’s political rivals.”
- Kenzo nodded as he glanced over to where the men were hanging. “Give the reports and the men to the mayor.”
- “Yes, my lord, as your order.” The military leader said with a smile.
- Kenzo left the factory and stepped into the limo waiting for him. His assistant McAdams smiled as he said. “Wade owes you a big favor for saving his life.” Then, after a short pause, he continued. “Actually, I didn’t expect Miss Wilson to be so brave.”
- “That’s because she is desperate,” Kenzo responded coldly.
