Chapter 4 Going Back Home

  • Chloe's POV
  • The Evans family had unexpectedly sent word to Meadowmere, asking to see me.
  • My mother was a great officer and a warrior for the Wolf Pack, who sacrificed her life protecting the current Alpha King.
  • As her daughter, I felt a deep sense of pride. But I had no desire to reconnect with those werewolves.
  • "I'm sorry, but I don't want to meet," I replied firmly.
  • I suspected that the Evans family wanted to repay a debt, but I had no interest in accepting anything from them. Thankfully, since I had been expelled, I was no longer bound by werewolf societal rules or beholden to these high-ranking wolves.
  • "Mommy, who's there?" my adorable son peeked out from his room, curiosity shining in his eyes.
  • I smiled at him indulgently. "It's nothing, sweetheart."
  • With that, I shut the door.
  • For a while, they didn't come back, and I thought my life had returned to normal.
  • But after receiving a phone call, I decided to go back home.
  • "Alright, I'll be back for the pre-competition preparations, latest in three days," I assured the person on the other end.
  • "Mommy, are we going back home?" my son asked as he came out from behind me.
  • I looked at him with satisfaction. In his blue checkered shirt and casual denim shorts, with his delicate features and childlike innocence, he looked every bit the noble child he was at only four years old. He was undeniably my son!
  • "Do you want to come back with me?"
  • "Of course! I'll go wherever you go, Mommy!" The little guy's big, bright eyes sparkled, like polished black gemstones. He was absolutely adorable.
  • The one thing I never regretted was having him.
  • Though, like me when I was younger, he had yet to awaken his wolf.
  • But I believed that when he grew up, his wolf would be as noble and rare as mine, with exceptional abilities!
  • I would never forget how thrilled and grateful I was when my wolf, Eva, awakened three years ago.
  • She was pure white, majestic, and incredibly fierce! She had torn through a rogue wolf who meant me harm in a single bite.
  • Eva had also told me that her unique and noble nature meant that it took longer for her to awaken compared to ordinary wolves.
  • Now, even if I had to return to the pack, I was no longer afraid of facing any level of werewolf retaliation!
  • "Alright, let's pack up. We'll head to the airport tomorrow afternoon," I said happily, patting my son on the shoulder.
  • "Okay!" The little guy nodded eagerly and went to his room to pack his clothes.
  • ……
  • On the evening of the third day, at the international airport, I pushed a cart while my son calmly sat on top of his suitcase, his wide, curious eyes scanning everything around him, taking in all the sights of home.
  • As we exited the arrival corridor, two men in suits approached us politely. "Ms. Taylor, we are sent by Mrs. Evans. We're here to pick you up. The car is arranged at the entrance. Please come with me … "
  • "Thanks, but I don't need the Evans family's goodwill." I declined politely.
  • "Ms. Taylor, Mrs. Evans wishes to meet with you," one of the middle-aged men urged.
  • I understood Mrs. Evans meant well, but I had no intention of accepting her offer.
  • "Please tell Mrs. Evans that my mother saved the Alpha King as part of her duties as a Beta police officer. There's no need for any repayment to me."
  • With that, I ignored them and pushed the cart, heading toward the exit with my son.
  • As I looked at the familiar surroundings, my emotions were a tangled mix.
  • I wondered which familiar faces from Thunder Pack I might encounter in the coming days.
  • One thing was certain: I wouldn't tolerate anyone from the pack bothering me without facing consequences!
  • Eva roared within me, echoing my own thoughts.
  • Before heading back, I took one precautionary step—I masked my scent.
  • I couldn't let that witch's descendant track me by my smell, especially to keep my son safe from any unwanted attention.
