• “Sir is waiting for you downstairs”, a new attendant informed me when I came out of my room. My heartbeat spiked up. Taking a swift glance at the floor-length mirror in the hallway, I left the condo. Alex was waiting for me near the elevator and when he saw me, he smiled and said, “You look beautiful”. His smile seemed genuine and the complement sincere. I mirrored his smile. 
• I blushed, “Thank you”. How long had it been since anyone remotely complimented me? Pretty long, I guess.
