Chapter 12 Breaking the Deadlock
- "Don't take on any work for now. Stay in the dormitory and give yourself some time to adjust. Don't overthink or say anything random. The company will find a way to solve your problem. I'll go back to the company and discuss with Ms. Salinas. You just stay here." After giving her instructions, Alicia hurriedly left.
- Jasmine felt bored and restless in the dormitory, and the more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
- Is Rhonda really sick?
- Clearly, she couldn't control her own man at the bar, so why blame others?
- If she had the courage, she should have confronted Noah!
- Thinking of this, Jasmine became furious.
- That night at the bar, she should have slapped Noah hard!
- Her brother was right; he was a despicable person.
- Clearly, he had Rhonda by his side, but he still tried to seduce her, pinning her against the wall and taking advantage of her. He pretended to care about her, pretending to be close to her.
- Jasmine secretly vowed that if she ever saw Noah again, she would not be friendly towards him!
- "Weird! Why do I feel a pang of pain and swelling in my heart whenever I think of him?"
- Jasmine couldn't understand herself. She clearly didn't know him!
- "Ah! So annoying." She buried herself in the blanket, wrapping herself up like a cocoon.
- Her phone rang.
- "Hello, Karl."
- As soon as Karl spoke, he said a bunch of words: "Jasmine, where are you now? I just saw the things on the internet. Are you okay? Let me tell you, don't listen to those netizens talking nonsense. They are just too idle. They can't even live their own lives well, yet they point fingers at others' lives. Don't take it to heart. Got it?"
- "Karl!" The concern from the closest person broke Jasmine's defenses, and she couldn't help but tear up. Her voice choked a little, "I miss you so much!"
- Growing up, she had always been the cherished one in her family's eyes.
- From childhood to adulthood, she was surrounded by flowers and applause. When had she ever been insulted like this?
- Even if Jasmine was always cheerful, she couldn't help but feel down.
- Karl felt extremely distressed. "Don't worry, Jasmine. I will announce our relationship right away. Even if our little princess wants the impossible, I will make it happen for you!"
- "No!" Jasmine quickly stopped him. "We agreed that I would make my own way in the entertainment industry! I can handle this myself, so you don't need to intervene."
- "But, I worry about you!"
- "I know you worry about me! But I've grown up and can handle things on my own. Karl, trust me, I will find a way to resolve this properly. Just let me handle it, please, Karl."
- Karl was always defenseless against his sister's charm and had to surrender. "Alright! If you need help, make sure to come to me!"
- "Yes, yes, don't worry, Karl!" Jasmine blew a kiss to her phone. "Karl, go and take care of your own business! Don't worry about me!"
- Karl reluctantly hung up the phone.
- He sighed.
- His sister was determined to enter the entertainment industry. If his other brothers found out, they would come after his neck.
- Fortunately, both of them were still abroad.
- He made an internal call and instructed his secretary, "Keep an eye on the entertainment industry during this period. If there is no decrease in unfavourable rumours about Jasmine within a week, announce her identity on the official website."
- "Yes, Mr. Harper!"
- At Caldwell Group's CEO office.
- After the morning meeting, Noah leaned back on his leather chair, pinched his nose bridge with one hand, and closed his eyes to relax.
- Seeing this, Mark instructed his secretary to make coffee and stood by, hesitating to speak.
- "Just say what you want to say," Noah said in a deep voice.
- "Yes, Mr. Caldwell." Mark immediately spoke up, "Ms. Jasmine and Ms. Ferguson have recently had a conflict."
- "What happened?" Noah opened his eyes, his brows furrowing slightly. "Did Jasmine bully Rhonda?"
- The corners of Mark's mouth twitched uncontrollably. Probably the other way around.
- "Ms. Ferguson is fine." Mark paused for a moment. "It's Jasmine who has been targeted by negative comments all over the internet."
- "What's going on?" Noah's brows furrowed even tighter.
- Mark quickly handed over the documents in his hand.
- After reading them, Noah fell silent.
- The information was detailed, and Mark's investigation was thorough. Rhonda's intentions were clear.
- "Mr. Caldwell, should we intervene in this matter?"
- "No need, just leave it as it is!" Noah threw the documents to Mark and closed his eyes again. "You can go now!"
- "Yes." Mark held the documents and shrugged indifferently, walking out of the office.
- Noah opened his eyes and picked up the photo on his desk. He gently caressed the innocent face of Rhonda in the picture and murmured softly, "Rhonda, why don't you believe me? I've already ended things with her. Why do you keep making things difficult for her?"
- The person in the photo just smiled without giving any answer.
- After hanging up the call with Karl, Jasmine pondered and couldn't come up with any solutions to break this impasse.
- Should I ask Josh to help clarify?
- During their time at the police station, he refused to take any photos, indicating that he valued his privacy greatly.
- Such a person probably wouldn't want to get involved in this kind of tabloid news.
- Should I ask Karl?
- I just rejected his help.
- Should I beg Rhonda for mercy?
- It would be better to forget about it!
- Jasmine angrily patted her own head, regretting that her brain capacity was not enough to handle such a complicated matter.
- "Forget it, I'll go find Jessie and see if she has any ideas," Jasmine said to herself.
- Jasmine dialed Jessie's phone number.
- "Jasmine, don't worry! I just discussed it with Alicia. Our first step is to send a lawyer's letter, holding those marketing accounts legally responsible. Then we'll release some other news to divert the public's attention. During this time, we'll try to get information from the people around Rhonda and see if we can find evidence of their plot against you," Jessie explained her clear train of thought.
- Jasmine had a sudden realisation and couldn't help but applaud Jessie, saying, "Oh my god! Jessie, you're incredible! I was struggling to come up with any solutions. Compared to you, I feel like such an amateur."
- Jessie chuckled and replied, "Actually, these are common strategies in the entertainment industry. The more experience you gain, the more you learn."
- "Moreover," Jessie playfully teased her, "aren't you just a 19-year-old student?"
- "Haha, you're right!" Jasmine laughed. "I'm still just a 19-year-old kid!"
- "On a serious note, were you really having dinner with Karl that day? If you're willing to make your relationship public or reveal your identity as the boss of Jesmine Entertainment, this matter would be a piece of cake. Are you sure you don't want to give it a try?"
- Jasmine pondered for a moment and replied earnestly, "Hmm, not at the moment! I want to challenge myself and see how far I can go on my own."
