Chapter 9 A Sarcastic Retort
- In the dressing room, Jasmine changed out of her wet clothes and grabbed a clean towel to dry her hair.
- After spending so long in the lake during the late autumn season and having recently been in a car accident, Jasmine had not fully recovered yet. As a result, she was showing symptoms of a cold.
- "A-choo! A-choo!"
- After Jasmine sneezed a few times, a kind assistant walked in and handed her a hairdryer, saying, "Ms. Harper, please blow dry your hair!"
- "Thank you!" Jasmine sincerely thanked her.
- She really needed to dry her hair now. It was cold outside, and she couldn't go out with wet hair.
- Her scenes were scheduled for the next few days; if she delayed due to illness, she would feel guilty towards Alicia, who had fought so hard for her role.
- Rhonda deliberately made things difficult for her, but everyone in the crew was perceptive and could see through it.
- Perhaps they were already used to it. The people who worked in the crew knew to please the top dog; otherwise, she wouldn't have had to search the dressing room for a hairdryer.
- "What's your name?" Jasmine was someone who repaid kindness, and this assistant with a round face looked quite cute, making her feel fond of her.
- Before the assistant could answer, another colleague walked in and quickly pulled her out of the dressing room, admonishing her in a low voice, "What are you doing? Didn't you see that she offended Ms. Ferguson? If the people around Ms. Ferguson see you, you might lose this job!"
- "But—"
- "There's no buts. Mind your own business! I heard that Mr. Caldwell came to visit Ms. Ferguson. Let's go and take a look."
- As the voices faded away, the dressing room fell silent.
- Jasmine shrugged and began to deal with her wet hair.
- After tidying up, she took her belongings and left. As she passed by the filming location, she saw William standing respectfully opposite a tall and handsome man, nodding and bowing as he said something.
- Meanwhile, Rhonda was smiling and holding the man's arm, looking gentle and charming.
- Jasmine felt that this figure looked somewhat familiar, but she didn't intend to join in the fun.
- Rhonda had already become her second most disliked person, after that scumbag Noah.
- Unexpectedly, when she wanted to avoid trouble, others insisted on bringing it to her doorstep.
- "Ms. Harper!" Rhonda called out to her.
- Jasmine turned around and, unsurprisingly, caught a hint of satisfaction in Rhonda's eyes.
- Rhonda's actions drew the attention of everyone around, and the man beside her slightly tilted his head, revealing his handsome face.
- Ugh, what luck! Here's the couple I hate the most.
- "What's the matter?" Jasmine's tone was cold, and her discomfort made her a little impatient.
- Rhonda still greeted her with a smile. "Noah came to visit and brought some delicious food for the crew. Come and have a taste."
- "No need. I'm not hungry. You can enjoy it yourself!"
- Jasmine turned to leave.
- Little did she know that Rhonda was suddenly teary-eyed as she revealed a look of grievance. "Ms. Harpper, are you blaming me for making you jump so many times? If that's the case, then I sincerely apologise to you. I wasn't trying to make things difficult for you; I simply have high artistic standards. I did this for the greater good of everyone. If this film wins an award, wouldn't it be an honour for all of us?"
- The corner of Jasmine's mouth twitched.
- What a big hypocrite!
- Does she take others for fools?
- But there will always be fools who fall for her tricks. As Noah looked at the delicate Rhonda, his eyes were filled with pity, and he showed dissatisfaction towards Jasmine, who remained silent.
- "Rhonda, you don't need to apologise to her! When it comes to pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, who can compare to you? I believe you are considering the bigger picture. If certain people don't know their place, they can leave the crew."
- Boo-hoo! I'm so scared! If it weren't for me not wanting to rely on Karl and Hugh's influence, there'd be no room for you to speak here!
- You scum. What a waste of such a handsome face!
- Jasmine couldn't be bothered to play along with Rhonda's act. She's just pretending to be weak, isn't she? I can do that too!
- "Oh, my! Ms. Ferguson, what you said is absolutely right! You are a famous actress, even in Eldoria, and you have brought great honour to our country! It's our privilege to receive your guidance. Next time, please also give some guidance to our colleagues. I believe they would be more than happy to spend a couple of hours soaking in water. Don't you all think so?"
- Jasmine passed the ball to the onlookers.
- Everyone awkwardly chuckled. Who didn't know that Rhonda was deliberately messing with her? But Jasmine went ahead and dragged everyone down with her.
- Jasmine didn't care what everyone was thinking. She continued to smile sweetly and speak for Rhonda, "Speaking of which, we also have a female star in Eldoria called Katherina Douglas. She recently won the Best Actress award at the Newland International Film Festival, and the media in the country and overseas are going crazy for her. But in my opinion, Katherina is nothing compared to you! It must be because you're so kind, and you spend all your time guiding us newcomers. That's why Katherina got ahead. Am I right, Ms. Ferguson?"
- Rhonda's face had already turned pale, her smile frozen on her face.
- Officially, she had returned to Celestria to develop her career after her time in Eldoria. But everyone knew that she had never made a name for herself in Eldoria. After a few years, she was still just a pretty face with hardly any lines, unlike Katherina, who was already a renowned actress in Eldoria.
- The contrast was too stark, which was why she had returned to Celestria in anger.
- Seeing Rhonda being humiliated, Jasmine felt happy in her heart. She sincerely smiled at Noah. "Mr. Caldwell, don't you agree with what I said? Oh, I need to go buy some cold medicine quickly. It would be such a pity if I got sick and missed out on Ms. Ferguson's exclusive guidance!"
- In a joyful mood, she waved her hand and skipped away.
- Her youthful energy and radiant smile left Noah momentarily stunned.
- Had she ever smiled like this during the five years she had been by my side?
- Her cunning and intelligent eyes immediately captured his attention.
- How could she seem like a different person after leaving me?
- Noah stared fixedly at her retreating figure.
- Jasmine, how many things are you still keeping from me?
- Rhonda shook off her turbulent emotions and put on a pitiful expression, hoping to evoke sympathy from Noah. However, to her surprise, Noah was completely engrossed in watching Jasmine, lost in thought.
- Rhonda's heart sank. "Noah, Noah."
- "Hmm." Noah snapped back to reality and softly asked, "What's wrong?"
- "Did I do something wrong? Maybe Ms. Harper doesn't need my guidance at all. I even caused her to catch a cold." Tears welled up in Rhonda's eyes.
- "How can you blame yourself for that? You were doing it for her own good," Noah comforted her gently.
- "Yeah." Rhonda obediently lowered her head, concealing the glimmer in her eyes.
- God knows how nervous she was when she discovered that Noah was present. She couldn't afford to tarnish the image she held in his heart.
- Jasmine, you b*tch! I will make you regret it!
