Chapter 6 Sweet Indulgence

  • Desiree was also a young heiress from the affluent families of Yannopolis and had been friends with Celeste since childhood. Desiree was rather mischievous in nature, unwilling to take over the family business or comply with arranged marriages set by her family. As a result, she was often reprimanded and confined at home by her father.
  • As a socialite in Yannopolis, she was fairly familiar with the circumstances of the Lloyd family, the city's wealthiest family.
  • Hadrian was indeed exceptional. At a young age, he had already accomplished so much. After he took over Lloyd Corporation, its revenue multiplied several times over. Relying on his personal capabilities, he also established Regal Group. These two corporations developed rapidly in Yannopolis, leading the economic growth in the country's eastern region. Today, their operations have expanded globally, and Hadrian has become an unshakeable legend in the business world.
  • Most importantly, he had been single since birth, never showing any interest in women.
  • He had actually established a one-month agreement with Celeste.
  • This is really unbelievable!
  • Desiree sighed. “It seems that even myths have begun to yearn for the mortal world...”
  • “What did you say?” Celeste asked, her brows furrowing in confusion.
  • Desiree gave a mischievous smile, shaking her head. Soon after, she sat beside Celeste, wrapping her arms around her.
  • “I said my Lestie has suffered too much. My heart aches for her. Since you don't want this money, I plan to use it to acquire the jewelry design company for which we used to work. I'm quite satisfied with this company's core team and business resources. All we need to do is get rid of that soul-sucking boss and replace him with us. Hehe! From now on, let's call it Celestial Desire Designs! I'm determined to forge my own path, to become wealthy on my own merits, and fully escape the fate of an arranged marriage!”
  • Upon hearing Desiree's words, Celeste also became passionately inspired.
  • “All right. Here's to our success!”
  • Celeste had known Desiree for many years and understood her well. She was aware that Desiree was not a naive heiress but someone with sharp business acumen. Consequently, she gave Desiree the five million compensation from the company, considering it her investment in the company.
  • “By the way, Lestie, the world of the wealthy is as deep and unpredictable as the ocean. Our family, like others, is entangled in various feuds and power struggles. The Lloyd family, being a century-old household, must be even more complex internally. You must ensure to protect yourself. Hadrian is exceptional. He's been more than good to you, but you...”
  • Celeste gave a soft chuckle. “I understand. Don't worry. I won't allow myself to fall for Hadrian. I'll guard my heart, ensuring it won't get hurt again.”
  • With this in mind, Celeste was reminded again of Harriet and Shaun's betrayal. Once she had finalized her contract deal with Hadrian and officially took over Xenos Corporation, she would deal properly with this pair of scoundrels.
  • Desiree also thought of these two individuals and couldn't help but chuckle. She quickly relayed the rumors she had recently heard.
  • Shaun, for reasons unknown, suddenly found himself unable to perform, showing no reaction whatsoever while on the bed. Despite Harriet's best efforts and schemes, she ended up with someone utterly useless!
  • “Perhaps due to his failing health, Shaun found various ways to torment Harriet. Last night, in the middle of the night, he had caused such distress to Harriet that she had to be rushed to the emergency room...”
  • After Celeste heard the misfortunes of the two, her mood significantly improved.
  • Serves them right!
  • The two of them heartily discussed the future, losing track of time until they found themselves deep in conversation by evening.
  • Celeste had initially planned to stay a bit longer, but unexpectedly, she received a call from Hadrian. Consequently, they could only agree to meet another time.
  • Outside the coffee shop.
  • Hadrian, tall and regal, was half-leaning against a black Maybach. His towering and robust figure, coupled with his exceptionally handsome face, attracted many women's gazes. However, Hadrian was constantly frowning, resisting the women's stares.
  • That was until Celeste's arrival.
  • When he saw Celeste, his brows quickly relaxed, his profound gaze revealing a gentleness he himself was unaware of.
  • “Come. Let's go home together.”
  • Obediently, Celeste walked over, casually asking, “Mr. Lloyd, why... did you personally come to pick me up?”
  • The man didn't respond verbally. Instead, he acted like a gentleman, opening the car door and carefully guiding Celeste inside, making sure her head didn't bump into anything.
  • “Thank you...”
  • Without asking any further questions, Celeste obediently got into the car.
  • Subsequently, Hadrian stepped into the driver's seat and started the car.
  • Once the car had smoothly merged into traffic, Harriet, who had been hidden behind the flower bushes, emerged.
  • Her gaze, venomous and intimidating, was fixed on the direction the Maybach had departed.
  • She had meticulously planned to snatch Shaun away from Celeste, finally getting her revenge. How did Celeste manage to find a new support so quickly?
  • The thought of Shaun, now crippled from the waist down, tormenting her daily, filled Harriet with unbearable humiliation.
  • The man who had just been standing next to Celeste exuded an extraordinary aura. At a glance, one could tell he was a scion of a prestigious family.
  • It had taken her a great deal of effort to bring Celeste down. She couldn't allow her to rise above her again.
  • Harriet immediately set out to investigate who the man by Celeste's side was. She was determined to steal him away once again!
  • The Lloyd manor.
  • Celeste had barely stepped out of the car when she was taken aback by the spectacle before her eyes.
  • Had Hadrian bought the entire shopping mall and brought it back home?
  • The moment she entered, her gaze was immediately filled with various luxury brand clothes, shoes, and accessories. Even the cosmetics and jewelry had been displayed across two rooms.
  • Although Celeste was also an heiress from a wealthy family, she had never indulged in such extravagance before.
  • For a moment, she felt somewhat unsteady, as if in a daze.
  • “Mr. Lloyd, these...”
  • Hadrian lowered his gaze, looking deeply into her eyes. “What's the matter? Don't you like it?”
  • “It's not that I don't like it, but isn't it a bit too much?”
  • “It's not much. It merely matches your status as Mrs. Lloyd.”
  • Celeste was slightly taken aback.
  • So, it turned out that everything Hadrian did was to help her adjust to her new identity.
  • Celeste slightly lifted the corners of her lips. “Don't worry, Mr. Lloyd. I won't let your efforts go to waste. I'll play the part of your fiancée well.”
  • Subsequently, Celeste followed the housekeeper to select cosmetics.
  • As Hadrian watched her retreating figure, a stifling sensation flashed through his heart.
  • He glanced back at Yves, questioning, “Why does she seem so indifferent?”
  • “Mr. Lloyd, perhaps it was too abrupt. Ms. Xenos couldn't react in time.”
  • With a stiff resolve, Yves attempted to explain.
  • After all, these were items that Hadrian had painstakingly chosen for Celeste, even setting aside a billion-dollar business deal to spend the entire afternoon on this task.
  • If Celeste's response had angered the CEO, his subordinates would have been in for a rough time.
  • After a moment of contemplation, Hadrian then asked in a soft voice, “Yves, is it inappropriate for me to buy her things?”
  • Hadrian couldn't quite understand what was happening to him. During his work, his thoughts would often drift to Celeste.
  • The thought of her transition from a wealthy heiress to a destitute orphan moved him to consider shopping for her.
  • Due to his innate familiarity with Celeste, he would instinctively treat her well.
  • “Of course, it's appropriate! Ms. Xenos is the fiancée you intend to introduce to Old Mrs. Lloyd. There's nothing more appropriate than you treating Ms. Xenos well!”
  • Yves wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, his guilt causing him to lower his head.
  • He didn't dare remind Hadrian that it seemed like it had been a long time since he had urged him to find the woman from that night.
