Chapter 8 "A Rogue Beat An Alpha?"

  • Lucas’s Point of View
  • Werewolves know how to stalk their prey.
  • So, when I planted a kiss on Harriet’s hand right in front of everyone, it was like I was staking my claim and warning them all to back off from my mate.
  • He-wolves kept on eyeing my mate as soon as she came.
  • Mr. Lucas. Remember, we have a large audience," Harriet whispered, attempting to loosen her hand from my firm grip.
  • "No problem," I responded. "I'm a newcomer in this Pack and in this country. They'll probably just assume I'm following a tradition from my homeland."
  • "And is that tradition all about seeking attention?" she retorted.
  • "Well, I'll take that as a compliment." I let go of her hand and took a step back.
  • The entire room was abuzz with curiosity about the connection between me and Alpha Alex's fiancée. It was like a captivating soap opera that had everyone's attention fixed on the scene.
  • Just then, Connor, the event's host, made a grand entrance and greeted the guests with a booming voice. "Good evening, everyone!"
  • All eyes turned to him, momentarily distracted from the unfolding drama.
  • "Thank you all for being here tonight! I hope everyone has a great time!" Connor raised his wine glass in a casual toast, but his gaze was fixed on the entrance.
  • I think he is still waiting for the main guest to arrive.
  • When I shifted my gaze to Harriet, I noticed her stepbrother whispering something to her. Instantly, Harriet’s face turned pale.
  • ‘What did that jerk say this time?’ I muttered under my breath.
  • I clenched my fists, trying to hide my grimace. The music started and the werewolves headed to the dance floor with their respective partners.
  • Suddenly, I heard Harriet’s brother exclaiming amidst the crowd.
  • "And why not?" Ethan shouted.
  • "I have to dance with my fiancé," Harriet replied.
  • Listening to their conversation, I could sense the tension. Ethan was insisting that his stepsister dance with him, no matter what.
  • "Come on, it's not fair. I was here first, and your fiancé isn't even here yet. Just dance with me," Ethan urged.
  • "I said no," Harriet firmly refused.
  • I debated whether to step in and rescue her from that jerk.
  • I almost made a move to help her, but then Alpha Alex showed up at the party.
  • "My beloved fiancée!" Alex ran towards Harriet, surprising everyone.
  • It wasn't just the fact that he was running, but also the bruises and cuts on his face that caught everyone's attention.
  • "You look so beautiful today, my lovely fiancée!" Alex declared.
  • Harriet was speechless. She glanced over at me, standing far away with a smile on my face.
  • I couldn't hear her, but I understood what she was looking for. She was trying to figure out if I was behind Alex's injuries.
  • I had to respond, so I simply nodded and smiled at her.
  • Her reaction was priceless. She looked completely shocked that an Alpha like Alex had been attacked by a rogue.
  • As Harriet continued to stare at me, her brother went up to Alpha Alex and inquired, "What happened to you, Alpha Alex?"
  • "Well, last night, while I was out and about in the city, some wild dog came out of nowhere and started wailing on me! And when I asked why, he said he mistook me for someone else!" Alex explained. "That damn dog with rabies. I swear, if I ever lay eyes on him again, I'm gonna rearrange his face."
  • I couldn’t help smirking after hearing that?
  • What? Rearrange my face? As if he has the chance.
  • "Anyway, I told my guys to find that piece of junk," Alex growled, then turned to Harriet. "My dear Harriet, would you do me the honor of dancing with me? It would ease the longing in my heart for you."
  • I was not thrilled with Alex's offer, but Harriet accepted it as if she had no choice because her parents’ are watching.
  • "Sure. Let's dance.”
  • "Perfect!" Alex whisked Harriet away to the dance floor.
  • As they danced, my wolf kept nudging me to get closer and separate them.
  • ‘Harriet doesn’t seem happy either! She looks so annoyed!’ my wolf exclaimed.
  • But there’s a time for everything.
  • The song eventually came to an end. Once it did, I set my glass down and made my way over to them.
  • “Darling, care to dance again?” Alex inquired of Harriet.
  • Before he could take her hand, I intervened.
  • “Miss Harriet, would you care to dance with me?” I proposed.
  • Harriet and Alex stared at me in surprise.
  • ** **
  • Alpha Alex’s Point of View
  • My fiancée is incredibly beautiful. She may not be my fated mate, but her youthful appearance and attractive physique are more than enough to satisfy me.
  • As we swayed together on the dance floor, I leaned in closer and complimented her, "Your dress is quite simple, isn't it?"
  • She responded, avoiding direct eye contact as if she were shy, "My mother insisted that I wear this."
  • "I understand," I said, stealing a quick glance at her stunning face. "I suppose it's meant to emphasize your innocence, darling. However, when we're on our honeymoon, I'd much rather see you in some seductive lingerie. How does that sound?"
  • The thought of being intimate with a younger partner filled me with excitement! I continued sharing my honeymoon ideas with her, wishing I could reveal more of my wild and fantastic desires. Unfortunately, the song came to an end.
  • Therefore, I asked her to dance with me again. However, a man suddenly appeared and attempted to take my bride away from me.
  • And what’s more? When I saw the man’s face, I recognize him as the crazy dog who beat me when I was drunk!
  • “You!” I shouted loudly, grabbing everyone's attention. Now, all eyes were on us. “It was you!”
  • The man looked at me and asked, “Aren't you the guy I ran into last night?”
  • Huh! How dare he acts as if everything was fine!
  • I was about to reveal that he’s the dog who punch me and made my face like this. But then…
  • “You were with sexy werewolves last night, right? Are you the guy who walked around with women around your arms?”
  • I stiffened and glanced at Harriet.
  • If I admitted to his accusation, I'd be admitting to everyone that I was cheating on my fiancé by spending nights with werewolves prostitutes!
  • And also…
  • “Is he the one who beat Alpha Alex?” I heard murmurs around.
  • “How does it possible? I heard Mr. Hayes is a rogue. How can I rogue beat an Alpha?”
  • I clenched my fists..I can’t let other people think that a rogue beat me up!
  • "Is that true, Alpha Alex? Did you really meet up with Mr. Lucas last night while you were spending time with hookers?" Ethan asked me.
  • To save myself, I answered, “N-No. He probably saw it wrong.”
  • "Really?” the bastard asked. “I thought we saw each other. Well, if that's the case, then I don't need to worry." Sneering, he turned his head to my fiancee. "Oh, right. I almost forgot the real reason why I came here. Miss Harriet, can I have one last dance with you?"
  • “Huh?” Harriet uttered.
  • “Can we dance?” he repeated his request.
  • HOW DARE A ROGUE LIKE HIM ASK AN ALPHA’S FIANCEE TO DANCE?!
