Chapter 8 She's Dead?

  • Early in the morning, Hendrick arrived at the company, and his secretary quickly followed into the office.
  • "Mr. Nights, the hospital just called and said that the young madam..."
  • Upon hearing these three words, Hendrick raised his eyes coldly. The secretary quickly fell silent.
  • Hendrick coldly said, "In the future, there is no need to report to me about her affairs."
  • Sensing Hendrick's unfriendly tone, the secretary hurriedly said, "Yes." The secretary walked toward the door.
  • Hendrick suddenly threw the pen on the table in annoyance and said coldly, "Isn't she in prison? Why did the hospital call?"
  • The secretary turned around and respectfully said, "Last night, Ms. Clouds attempted suicide in prison."
  • Hendrick's expression froze, and his voice revealed a hint of panic. "She's dead?"
  • "No, she has been rescued now. The hospital called to ask for your instructions on how to handle it."
  • Hendrick couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, loosened his tie, and said coldly, "Why did she try to commit suicide?"
  • "The prison staff said that Ms. Clouds couldn't bear the suffering in prison, as she is a wealthy young lady. But I haven't verified the specific situation yet. Mr. Nights, if you need, I can go now..."
  • Thinking of the injuries on his mother, Hendrick hardened his heart, his eyes cold. "No need. Send someone to tell that woman, if she dares to commit suicide again, her father and brother will also be buried with her." An evil woman like her should just accept the tempering of prison.
  • "Yes."
  • Hendrick did not know that his words brought nightmares to Sandra. For the sake of her father and brother, she really dared not commit suicide again.
  • But because of her previous behavior, after returning to prison, she was tortured even more miserably. Every day, new injuries and old scars appeared on her body, one after another, never stopping.
  • Sandra gradually became numb. She no longer resisted, no longer struggled, and let others do to her what they wanted.
  • For a full two years, she barely clung on to life. She was barely surviving, because she couldn't even feel that she was still alive.
  • She had worn off all her pride, forgotten what dignity was, only hoping that her father and brother could survive. In the darkest moments before dawn, the prison door suddenly opened with a clang.
  • "Sandra, come out." This voice in the middle of the night seemed particularly abrupt.
  • Sandra numbly got up, dragging her tired body, and walked out of the sickroom. She thought that today, as usual, she would face all kinds of bullying.
  • But strangely, they changed her clothes and sent her to the prison gate. Sandra was puzzled, for she still had a year left to be released...
  • The prison guard said coldly, "Go out and behave yourself."
  • She walked out of the prison gate, and the drizzling rain fell on her. She looked up at the dark sky, the raindrops falling like needles. She hated rainy days.
  • Suddenly, a strong light appeared in front of her. It was the light from the car headlights. As the light shone on her, Sandra's heart shrank for a moment, afraid that this time it was someone from the prison playing a new game to torment her.
  • But then, someone got out of the car and walked up to her, holding an umbrella for her.
  • "Ms. Clouds, long time no see." Seeing the face of the person clearly, Sandra inexplicably took a step back.
  • It was William Goats, the steward of Hendrick. "Mr. Nights is waiting for you in the car, so please get in."
  • Sandra looked toward the car, "Did he send you to get me out?"
  • William bowed respectfully, but did not speak.
  • Sandra clenched her fists slightly. She thought about running away, but in the end, she gave up. She walked over and got into the extended luxury car, sitting diagonally across from Hendrick.
  • Hendrick still looked noble and aloof, with a cold and disdainful gaze, as always. He looked at the woman in front of him. She was already very slim before, but now she appeared even more delicate.
  • Her complexion was ashen, unlike before, devoid of any color, giving her a malnourished and sickly appearance. There were noticeable scars on her forehead and chin, standing out prominently on her face.
  • If they hadn't known each other since childhood, it would be difficult to connect the current Sandra with the once stunning beauty.
  • In the past, wherever he went, Sandra's eyes always sparkled as if focused on him. But now... she refused to even meet his gaze, her eyes lacking any spark.
  • As the car slowly pulled away from the prison, Sandra spoke in a raspy voice, coldly asking, "What is your intention in seeking me out?"
  • Hendrick replied icily, "It's been two years, and you seem to have become more cunning."
  • Sandra's lips curled into a sarcastic smile, remaining silent. Now, she couldn't even bring herself to speak to him.
  • Seeing the disgust in her eyes, a cold anger flashed in Hendrick's gaze. He tossed a document towards Sandra, commanding, "Read it and sign it."
  • Sandra opened the document and, upon reading its contents, couldn't help but let out a mocking laugh. It was a liver donation agreement.
