Chapter 1 Never Want to See You Again

  • It was a thunderstorm day. The Nightgarden was shrouded in darkness. In the study on the second floor, the flickering light of a lighter illuminated the room.
  • Hendrick Nights' gaze was cold and sharp as he stared at the photo projected on the wall by the projector.
  • It depicted a man and a woman entwined together. The man's face was blurred, but Hendrick recognized the woman. She was his wife, the most beautiful socialite in Imperia—Sandra Clouds.
  • On the day he was trapped in a fire and almost lost his life, Sandra, who professed her love for him and claimed she couldn't live without him, was actually cheating on him with another man...
  • Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and a voice outside respectfully said, "Mr. Nights, there's a call saying that Ms. Clouds has gone into labor suddenly and is about to give birth."
  • Hendrick's sharp eyes narrowed slightly, and he got up, quickly leaving the room.
  • In the hospital room, Sandra's agonizing screams from giving birth echoed. "Call Hendrick, I want to see him," Sandra demanded.
  • Standing beside her, a woman in a white dress sneered. "Sandra, my dear cousin, do you not realize the havoc you have wreaked? You caused Madam Nights to become a vegetable, led to the death of my sister, and left me unable to conceive. Hendri now despises you to the core. He only loves me. Just last night, we..."
  • Before she could finish her sentence, Sandra grabbed her by the collar. Although Sandra's face was pale, her stunning beauty still shone through. "You have no shame." She gritted her teeth.
  • "Better than you, cheating with other men," Sandra retorted.
  • "I didn't cheat on him." Sandra gritted her teeth.
  • "Oh, you didn't." Natalie Winters huddled closer and whispered, "I know, but he doesn't believe you. He only trusts me."
  • That hit Sandra where it hurt. Yeah, Hendrick doesn't trust me. Sandra pushed Natalie to the ground with all her might, unable to contain her emotions.
  • As footsteps approached the door, Natalie fell to the ground, crying out in pain.
  • The door of the ward opened, and a tall figure quickly walked to Natalie's side, helping him up, then casting a sharp gaze at Sandra.
  • Seeing her pale face and disheveled hair, Hendrick's heart inexplicably tightened.
  • But then he heard Natalie say, "Hendrick, don't blame Sandy. She didn't mean to. She was in so much pain from giving birth that she pushed me. I don't blame her. This little pain is nothing. As long as the child can come into this world safely, I don't mind."
  • Hendrick's handsome face now carried a hint of hostility as he looked at Sandra,."Arrogant and unbridled, not even knowing how to restrain yourself during childbirth."
  • Sandra's heart tightened with pain at Hendrick's words. This was the man she had publicly declared she would marry when she was young.
  • "Hendrick, I want a divorce from you. This child..." Sandra's voice trailed off.
  • Hendrick stepped forward, his voice as cold as ice, "You despicable and vile woman. Do you think I would still want you? Stay put, give birth to this child, hand it over to Natalie for upbringing, and get out of my life. I never want to see you again."
  • With disgust, he pushed Sandra's arm away and walked away. Natalie turned around, glanced triumphantly at Sandra, and followed Hendrick out.
  • Vile. After a lifetime of love, all she got was the word 'vile'. Sandra felt like she was in hell.
  • The process of giving birth lasted a full seven hours. But after that, she didn't make a sound. Even if she clenched her teeth in frustration, she would never allow others to mock her.
  • Sandra had expended all her energy and fainted when the child was born. Upon regaining consciousness, it was already night outside. Sandra overheard people in the ward murmuring in a daze.
  • "I heard they brought four dogs here."
  • "Feeding such a small child to dogs... it's truly horrifying to think about."
  • Sandra suddenly had a sinking feeling and asked hoarsely, "What are you discussing?"
  • One of the nurses was startled by her sudden outburst.
  • Sandra exclaimed, "Feeding a child to dogs? This is a psychiatric hospital. Where did the child come from?"
  • Ever since Hendrick discovered she was pregnant, he had her confined in a psychiatric hospital. For a full eight months.
  • "Where else could it have come from? It's your child. You gave birth to a stillborn. Ms. Winters took it away and fed it to the dogs."
  • Upon hearing this, Sandra's entire body broke out in goosebumps. She threw off the covers, rose from the bed with her weary body, and hurried out, leaning against the wall for support.
  • Upon reaching the rear entrance of the hospital, she immediately spotted Natalie standing there with a few male servants.
  • And in the courtyard, the sound of several dogs barking furiously could be heard. "Natalie, what have you done with my child?"
  • Upon hearing Sandra's voice, Natalie turned around with a smirk on her face. "My dear cousin, you are truly unfortunate. After carrying for so long, you gave birth to a stillborn. Hendrick despises it, deeming it unlucky, so he instructed someone to feed your daughter's body to the dogs."
  • Sandra rushed over, and only in the lamplight did she notice blood around the mouths of the two dogs. Sandra felt as though her heart was being ripped apart. She cried out and lunged forward. "No, no..."
