Chapter 71 A Father's Firm Belief
- Hendrick dragged over a chair and sat down across from Philip, saying coldly, "Go on. Say what you came to say."
- Philip didn't hesitate. His tone was heavy but resolute. "Sandy is my daughter. I know her better than anyone else ever could. She's soft-hearted, and kind, and no matter what you think, she's not the cruel woman you make her out to be. Whatever mistakes you believe were made in the past, my wife and I will shoulder the blame. All of it. But I ask you, as a father, don't hurt my daughter."
- Hendrick gave a bitter, mocking laugh, his lips curling with disdain. "No parent ever thinks their child is at fault. Even someone as vile as Harold, you still kept him close and still treated him like he was the apple of your eye, didn't you?"
