Chapter 6 Why Won't You Believe Me

  • Sandra yanked out the still-dripping IV drip, leaped out of bed, and lunged forward, seizing Natalie. "Are you out of your mind? That's Hendrick's mother."
  • Natalie smirked, "So what? If they stand in my way, I'll eliminate them all."
  • Sandra's eyes widened in disbelief.
  • Natalie shoved her aside, causing the already weak Sandra to stumble and collapse to the ground. The pain made it difficult for her to rise immediately.
  • Natalie swung open the door and departed.
  • Sandra struggled to her feet, dashed out of the room, but couldn't keep pace with Natalie. Anxiously, she grabbed a passing nurse.
  • "Natalie is planning to commit murder, and she's targeting Hendrick's mother. Please stop her, please..."
  • The nurse pushed her away in disgust. "Are you crazy? Why are you grabbing me. You're so annoying."
  • Another nurse approached and whispered, "Hey, why bother with her? She's a real lunatic, spent a year in a mental hospital and gave birth to a stillborn. She's bad luck. Let's go."
  • After casting a disdainful glance at Sandra, the two nurses departed. Sandra didn't have time to be angry with them, so she pursued Natalie herself. She couldn't allow Natalie to succeed.
  • If her mother-in-law perished, then her own mother's death would have been in vain. No, she couldn't let that happen.
  • Sandra staggered all the way to Artemis' room. Inside the room, only Natalie sat beside Artemis' bed. Sandra's mother-in-law lay with closed eyes, appearing no different from usual.
  • Sandra's heart clenched. Her mother-in-law hadn't awakened. Natalie had deceived her. Natalie had lied, and there was a motive behind it. Considering that Hendrick now harbored great distrust toward her, she feared causing trouble if she stayed. She turned to leave.
  • But Natalie picked up the fruit knife from the table and uttered slowly, "The moment you step out that door, your mother-in-law will die, and you will be framed as the one who killed her."
  • Sandra turned around to see Natalie holding the fruit knife against Artemis' neck, a malicious smile playing on her lips.
  • She hastily said, "Natalie, don't do anything rash. She's Hendrick's mother. Don't you love Hendrick?"
  • "Yes, I love him, that's why I'll eliminate anything that stands in the way of my love for him."
  • Sandra shook her head, raised her hands, and declared, "I won't be an obstacle. I'll divorce him."
  • "Divorce? Ha, not enough. Your place is in hell." As Natalie spoke, she rose, brandishing the knife, and thrusting it towards Artemis.
  • Sandra panicked, lunged forward, and pushed Natalie away. However, the knife in Natalie's hand still plunged into Artemis's lower left abdomen.
  • As blood gushed out, Sandra grabbed Natalie's arm, exerted all her strength, and flung her away. The knife slipped from Natalie's grip and she tumbled to the ground.
  • Artemis' lower abdomen was now drenched in blood.
  • Sandra reached out, applying pressure to the wound, shouting in terror, "Help, someone help! Save her!"
  • Observing her panicked and frightened expression, Natalie lay motionless on the ground, chuckling softly. "Sandra, this time, I will emerge victorious, because my venom runs deeper than yours."
  • With that, Natalie forcefully drove the fruit knife into her own shoulder. The wound was in the same spot where Hendrick had been injured previously.
  • Sandra was stunned, finally comprehending Natalie's intentions. Natalie was indeed venomous, extremely venomous.
  • At that moment, a nurse pushed open the door and entered.
  • Natalie eagerly cried out, "Help me! She's attempting to commit murder."
  • The nurse, witnessing the chaos in the ward, cried out in fear, "Help!" And she dashed out.
  • Within moments, Hendrick burst through the door. Surveying the disorder in the ward, Hendrick felt a surge of panic.
  • Natalie crawled to Hendrick's side and clutched his trouser leg. "Hendri, please help Artemis, quickly. She's been stabbed."
  • Hendrick advanced and spotted his mother with a wound on her abdomen, being tightly restrained by Sandra. Anger welled up within him, prompting him to shove Sandra aside.
  • Sandra stumbled and collapsed to the ground. She shook her head, gazing anxiously at Hendrick. "It wasn't me."
  • The nurse who had left initially summoned the security guards and medical staff. The medical staff wheeled the injured Artemis out.
  • Sandra rose to her feet, seized Hendrick's arm, and pleaded, "You must believe me, I truly didn't do it. No one desires Artemis' recovery more than I do. It's Natalie. It's her..."
  • Natalie wept softly, "Sandy, I can forgive the hurt you've caused me and shoulder the blame, but... you shouldn't be so vindictive. That's Hendrick's mother. Are you... afraid that Artemis will awaken and expose your deceit? Is that why you harbored murderous intentions towards her? If I hadn't been here today, who were you planning to scapegoat?"
  • Hendrick seized Sandra by the collar, exerting pressure until she was nearly suffocating. His eyes ablaze, he gritted his teeth. "Sandra! If anything happens to my mom, I will exact vengeance on your entire family."
  • He shoved Sandra away, directed the security guards to restrain her, and then assisted the still-bleeding Natalie to her feet.
  • Natalie had barely taken a few steps before collapsing. Hendrick lifted her up and swiftly departed.
  • Sandra knelt on the ground, inching forward, and finally bowed her head to the ground. Her heart... it ached unbearably. Why won't you trust me, Hendrick? Why won't you ever trust me!
