Chapter 154 Rich Hot And Infertile Husband (Or Maybe Not)

  • Latonia stammered, “I–I didn’t mean it like that.” Liam lifted his eyes, “Then what did you mean? Explain yourself. My wife, young as she is, married me, cooks and cleans for me day in and day out, works her ass off, saves money and takes care of the Reed family, so that I don’t have any worries at work. How did she become a joke?” Celeste, didn’t know what to say. Liam’s lies were so convincing that even she, as the person involved, was blushing. She overslept till noon, her cooking was just so–so, and she liked to go shopping using Liam’s credit card. From Liam’s perspective, her divorce request would’ve been ungrateful. Latonia blushed, and she couldn’t say a word for a long time.
  • The other relatives looked on with amusement. Serves you right! In the end, Shawn spoke up, “You’re an adult now, but you still can’t control your words in front of the kids?” Latonia looked embarrassed and finally quieted down. Soon, Angel helped Old Mr. Campbell come downstairs. Old Mr. Campbell was nearly ninety but fairly healthy. He was a bit hunched over with age, his face full of wrinkles, and his clothes were clean and fresh. He looked sharp. Old Mr. Campbell looked around and fixed his gaze on Liam, sizing him up. Shawn wanted to help Old Mr. Campbell come closer, but he waved him off. “Grandpa, this is my son–in–law, Liam. I’ve shown you his picture before.” He spoke louder than usual since Old Mr. Campbell was hard of hearing. “How old are you now?” Old Mr. Campbell asked. Liam pursed his lips, “Thirty.” Old Mr. Campbell furrowed his brows, muttering, “Why did you just get married? Is there something wrong with you?” Liam was speechless. Everyone else broke out a cold sweat at his words. Celeste almost laughed, while Liam’s face darkened. Shawn hurried to explain, fearing that Liam would get angry, “They didn’t just get married this year. They’ve been married for several years.” Then, he whispered to Liam, “He’s old and a bit confused.”
  • “You’re the one who’s confused!” Old Mr. Campbell snapped, “Celeste is still so young, and you were in a hurry to marry her off. As her father, how could you do such a thing?” Liam was speechless again. He was kind of regretting agreeing to take Old Mr. Campbell in. Of course, his words were mainly meant for Shawn. Celeste suddenly thought that Old Mr. Campbell didn’t seem all that confused. Shawn smiled apologetically, “Liam treats Celeste very well. Marrying him is a blessing for her. How could I be harming her?” Old Mr. Campbell just snorted and didn’t say anything else. Liam’s visit to the Reed family was a rare opportunity, so Shawn insisted on having him stay for a meal. Celeste found this somewhat amusing but respected Old Mr. Campbell’s wishes. For his entire life, Old Mr. Campbell had lived in his hometown, and J City was the farthest from home he had ever been. Owen deliberately slowed down, and Old Mr. Campbell’s cloudy eyes were glued to the scenery moving outside the window – J City’s dense buildings and endless prosperity. After a while, he sighed, “This place has developed so well; it’s very prosperous.” Celeste felt a sudden pang of sadness and whispered, “Grandpa David, if you like it here, you can stay for a few more days.” Old Mr. Campbell smiled and jokingly said, “I didn’t expect to have such good fortune at my age.” Then, he suddenly reached into his pocket and took out a Ferrero Rocher chocolate, handed it to Celeste, and whispered to her like a child, “I found this in your sister’s room. She said it’s chocolate and tastes really good. But my teeth are broken, so I can’t chew it. You tell me if it’s delicious.” Celeste was stunned.
