Chapter 1 The Scoundrel's True Love
- As the wedding march played, Aurelia Valewyn, in a pure white gown, elegantly walked down the red carpet toward Caspian Draegen, who waited with a bouquet at the other end.
- In a crisp white suit, Caspian seemed to glow under the golden light. His calm and smart demeanor shone through, like when they first met.
- Over the past three years, they had faced many ups and downs together, and now, she was lastly marrying him. The only cloud over this perfect day was her family's disapproval.
- When Caspian handed her the bouquet, tears of joy rose in Aurelia's eyes. With kindness, the priest began, "Caspian Draegen, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, promising to cherish her in sickness and health, for better or worse, richer or poorer, until death do you part?"
- Aurelia's heart raced as she looked at Caspian, eagerly awaiting his response. However, his face clouded with uncertainty, hesitating to reply.
- Just then, the doors burst open. Caspian's sister, Elara Draegen, rushed in with tears streaming down her face. "Caspian, something bad happened! Nadia..." she cried, looking like a lost child.
- A wave of anxiety washed over Aurelia. She glanced at Caspian, her grip on his hand tightening. The name Nadia Starling was significant—Aurelia knew that better than anyone. Nadia was Caspian's first love, the one he could never forget.
- When the Draegen Family faced hardship, Nadia chose to leave Caspian for an opportunity abroad. Out of pride, Caspian angrily severed all ties with Nadia and chose Aurelia as his partner instead.
- Yet, Nadia unexpectedly returned just a month ago.
- "What's wrong with Nadia?!" Caspian's face turned instantly grave, panic creeping into his voice.
- "Nadia has lost a lot of blood, and they're struggling to stop it. The doctors say she could be in danger!" Elara explained urgently.
- Her words made Caspian pull his hand from Aurelia's grip and rush out.
- Aurelia stepped forward, gripping his hand firmly as her body trembled uncontrollably. She fixed her gaze on him and asked, "Caspian! You can't leave! It's our wedding day. Are you really going to go?"
- Whispers and covert, derisive glances from the attendees stabbed at her heart.
- Aurelia looked at Caspian with red eyes and desperately pleaded, "Can't we at least go through with the wedding first?"
- "Nadia got hurt because of me! She's trying to save me. I can't just ignore that," Caspian replied urgently, attempting to pull his hand away. Still, Aurelia stood her ground.
- Caspian's expression grew even darker, and his tone grew cold. "Aurelia, you know our marriage is a business deal. You're meant to be my wife, but my matters are not your concern!"
- A business deal? Aurelia thought incredulously. Her eyes widened briefly before filling with bitterness. Swiftly, she retorted with a bitter smile, "So, it's all just a business deal to you?" Her voice carried a gentle sadness.
