Chapter 6 The Draegen Family's Nerve
- When Aurelia fell for Caspian of a different background, the entire Cirias family was firmly against their romance. Despite their objections, Aurelia stubbornly chose to follow her heart, believing she had found the one. She severed ties with her family and hid her status as their granddaughter, diving into the world of the Draegen family.
- When Alistair Cirias, the Cirias family head, found out what she had done, he was furious. He froze her bank accounts to try to force her to return.
- Three years went by like this, the Cirias family waiting for Aurelia to rethink her decision but instead hearing that Caspian had left her! As the Cirias family granddaughter, it was unthinkable that Aurelia would be abandoned by the Draegens! The Draegen family's nerve was shocking!
- Hector found it difficult to take the bitter feeling without teaching the Draegens a lesson.
- Aurelia gave Hector a faint smile and enquired composedly, "Uncle Hector, haven't you already arranged something for me?"
- "I think it's time for you to come back to the Cirias family. With my father getting older, managing the company is overwhelming him. Your Uncle Lucas and I have no interest in taking over the business, so we're counting on you to do it," Hector explained affectionately. "Don't hesitate to speak up if you have something different in mind, though. I will always back you in whatever circumstances."
- These words moved Aurelia's suppressed feelings and caused her emotional turmoil. Looking back on her choice to abandon her family in her rage and turning her back on the people who loved her sincerely made guilt overcome her. She desired to travel back to the past to make herself see sense.
- She choked out while suppressing her tears, "Thanks, Uncle Hector."
- "You're the only niece I have. If I don't protect you, who will?" Hector patted her head lightly with a tender look. "Look after yourself. I'll come see you after several days."
- After Hector's departure, Aurelia considered the gorgeous sunlight outside the window and made the decision to go for a stroll.
- Nadia stood in the gazebo in her knitted sweater and observed Aurelia as she sat beneath a tree. Aurelia's born gracefulness was obvious even in her flimsy patient uniform as she remained alone beneath the tree, attracting anyone who saw her.
- "I didn't think I could see you this soon." A voice behind Aurelia made her turn around, but the sight of Nadia made her expression turn cold.
- Nadia studied her carefully while smiling smugly. "Aurelia, it's been some time."
- Aurelia's gaze clouded over, a coldness overwhelming her. "Ms. Starling, your determination is something to behold."
- Nadia went on while disregarding her statement, "I can't stop myself from pitying you, Aurelia. How much of your life has been whiled away on a man who doesn't love you?"
- Her eyes teared up as she took hold of Aurelia's arm. "Aurelia, it's all on me. I'm so sorry, please forgive me..."
- "Don't touch me!" Aurelia furrowed her brow and pushed Nadia off slightly with a disgusted expression.
- Despite the tiny force she had used, she witnessed Nadia being thrown forward.
- Aurelia's shock at Nadia's reaction was interrupted by a sudden, solemn voice behind her. "Aurelia, what do you want?"
- Upon hearing the voice, Aurelia immediately understood why Nadia had seemingly become someone completely foreign. If Nadia had gone this far for this farce, it would be a shame if Aurelia did not take advantage of the situation.
