Chapter 2 Mr Heathcliff, Your Seed Has Been Misplaced
- Tears fell from her eyes like beads, falling one by one and shattering when they came in contact with the hem of Conrad's trousers.
- He could clearly sense the dampness.
- Is she an idiot, or is she just acting like one?
- "Don't play tricks with me, or I'll fire you as soon as we get out of here."
- He then turned on his phone's flashlight, instantly illuminating the elevator.
- It was then that Angela caught a glimpse of herself in the reflection on the wall.
- She was on her knees with her head stuck between Conrad's strong and long legs.
- Seeing herself in such an awkward position, she immediately turned so red she might start dripping blood. She wasted no time before she wiggled downward like an eel and twisted her neck left and right before she finally pulled her head out.
- "I-I'm sorry, Mr. Heathcliff! I wasn't trying to do anything. I couldn't see anything just now. I really thought I was stuck…"
- She gave a deep bow and apologized incessantly.
- There was a saying that pregnancy wasn't good for a woman's brain and that it would take years to recover.
- At this point, Angela couldn't help but wonder if she had become stupid even though she had just gotten pregnant.
- Conrad tugged at his collar. The woman's 'teasing' had made him feel a little warm.
- "What's this secret you want to tell me?" he asked.
- However, Angela didn't dare to say anything now.
- He has clearly misunderstood and thinks I'm sexually harassing him. What if he finds out his seed had been mistakenly planted in me? He would surely be furious… He might even strangle me!
- "I… I just wanted to say that everyone admires you even though you've just taken office."
- A sardonic smile appeared on Conrad's lips.
- He had heard this kind of flattery too many times. This was nothing new to him.
- "Don't get crafty. Focus more on your work."
- "Yes, sir! You are right! I shall remember your words for the rest of my life!"
- Angela huddled in the corner and stood facing the wall.
- At last, the elevator started working as usual.
- The moment the door opened, she scurried out like a startled mouse with her neck tucked in and disappeared into the corridor in a flash.
- Life was naturally made up of unexpected encounters, but she had encountered way too many surprises today!
- …
- As Conrad stepped into the office, he received a call from his subordinate.
- There was a theft of the Heathcliff Family's genes—the sperm he stored had been stolen.
- A dangerous glint appeared in his eyes at that instant, and he immediately hurried back to the Heathcliff Residence.
- Meanwhile, Wilhelmina was sharing the good news with Mrs. Heathcliff, otherwise known as Fiona Longbutton, whose eyes had narrowed into slits with delight.
- Two years ago, Fiona's son was attacked by an unknown venomous snake in the Arkaley jungle. Although he survived, the toxins affected the quality of his sperm. No one knew how many years it would take for him to make a complete recovery.
- Fortunately, he had stored his sperm before he left for the jungle.
- Fiona had been worried that she wouldn't have a grandchild, but now she could finally put her mind at ease.
- Conrad's expression turned cold and gloomy. "You actually did something like that behind my back. Don't you think you've gone overboard?"
- Fiona held Conrad's hand as she murmured, "I did all this for you. Your father has four sons, while I only have you. Even though you have taken over Heathcliff Corporation, your three brothers still have their eyes on you. They will only give up on the company when you have a legitimate heir."
- Fiona's other hand rested on Wilhelmina's belly. "The surgery was a success, and Wilhelmina is pregnant. Take her and get your marriage registered tomorrow. The pregnancy must be kept secret to protect the child from harm. We'll announce it closer to the due date."
- Despite the bashful expression Wilhelmina had, she was devising the evilest of plans.
- She had thought of a whole extended plan. Once Angela gave birth to the child, she would kill the woman and take the baby away. That way, no one would know that the child wasn't hers.
- Conrad only coldly glanced as he instructed his subordinate, "Take her upstairs for a pregnancy test."
- Wilhelmina was so frightened that she almost fell off the couch.
- Her lie would be exposed if she went to get it tested!
- "Conrad, the hospital examination can't go wrong. There's no need for another test."
- "I want to check it myself."
- Conrad's eyes gleamed with sharp, cold light as if he could see through her little secret with just one glance.
- Seeing that, she gradually turned pale. "My stomach suddenly feels a little painful. I want to go home and rest."
- She then stood up to escape, only for Conrad to grab her before he ordered his subordinate to take her upstairs forcefully.
- They got the results in no time—it was negative.
- Wilhelmina choked and burst into tears. "I'm sorry! The surgery failed. I only lied because I didn't want to worry Mrs. Heathcliff."
- She would never reveal the fact that it was some other woman who had gotten pregnant. Wilhelmina wouldn't know what to do if Conrad had married Angela instead.
- "My grandchild is gone?"
- The thought that her son's only healthy sperm was no more just like that filled Fiona with anger, and the old woman's vision soon went dark as she lost consciousness.
- Conrad quickly helped her into the room to rest and arranged for his subordinate to go and look into the case at the hospital.
- He knew very well how sly Wilhelmina could be. Because of that, he didn't believe a word from her lips.
- His subordinate soon found out the truth.
- "Mr. Conrad, the surgery didn't fail. It was a doctor's mistake that resulted in your semen being inseminated in another woman's body. She is now over one month pregnant."
- With that, he handed Conrad the woman's information.
- The moment Conrad saw the innocent face in the photo, he suddenly jerked.
- It's her!
- …
- Angela spent the entire afternoon in a daze.
- Mr. Heathcliff will definitely find out the truth, right? Is he thinking of a way to handle me and the child?
- There was no overtime today.
- As she was about to enter the subway station after leaving the company, a bald man approached her and held a knife against her back.
- "You'd better be good and quietly follow me, or I'll kill you right this instant."
