Chapter 3
- Simone's pov
- She would hit me when Dad wasn't looking, forgot to feed me and was always holding a phone or a mirror in her hands. It didn't take long before Dad finally realized her true colors and she was sent packing from our house, but not before signing a huge sum of money from dad's account into hers by forging his signature.
- We suffered a huge financial blow then, and I didn't have to tell dad that getting married shouldn't be his aim now. Dad just focused on me and his work, and as much as I was happy with all the attention, I knew that I would soon be heading for college in a few months, and knowing dad would be all alone was saddening.
- Mrs. Gua's husband died in a ghastly accident years ago when Thomas was still in middle school, and since then, she's been focusing on Thomas and her work.
- She was the most hard working, kind and independent woman I had ever seen. I had seen her make sacrifices no other woman would ever make just to ensure Thomas never had to be sent back home from school due to any fees or to ensure he wasn't kept starving.
- I could tell Dad admired her and always told me she was virtuous, but sometimes I wished he could see her in a different light.
- But a greater part of me wished he didn't. Infact, that greater part of me didn't enjoy seeing Dad and Mrs Gua get close because I had a HUGE crush on Thomas.
- Thomas was a god. He LOOKED like one. For someone who was from the same poor background as me, he was lucky. While I was bullied and chastised for my clothes and the way I looked and how I got into a prestigious high school through a scholarship, he actually became popular.
- He had black shiny hair that tussled down his neck which he liked to leave in a pony tail. His eyes were blue like the sea, and his jaw was hot and sexy. Not to mention he had a pair of mouth watering lips that you couldn't just miss a second without thinking of kissing it when you talked to him.
- Rich girls were always seen swarming around him, taking him out on dates, proposing to him even.
- And he didn't miss a chance to use his looks to his advantage by dating half the population of girls and fucking everyone of them before breaking up with each other.
- Not to mention, he was crazy intelligent too and used his chance to tutor girls which normally turned to make out sessions or hookups.
- He was the exact version of Dave, except he didn't have an influential background and he didn't bully innocent people into doing what they didn't want to.
- And that's one of the many reasons why I fell in love with Thomas. The only person who knows about this is my diary which is buried in a loose plank underneath my bed and I plan on taking this secret with me to the grave if I have to.
- Why?
- Because no matter how close we are, and how Mrs. Gua enjoys having me around her son unlike the 'unmannered' girls she admits she didn't like Thomas hanging out with, I know Thomas would never look at me the same way I did in a million years.
- Yes- in middle school, Thomas didn't look as good as he did now. He was skinny then, he still got haircuts from his mother and he had zits all over his face.
- But in highschool, everyone glowed up- except me of course. Girls grew out their hair and had new styles. They learnt how to put on make up, got their zits removed through a procedure called skin care and got jeweleries. They grew more curvy and extremely beautiful that I began to wonder if we were really classmates back then.
- Guys grew much more taller than the girls… I remember being taller Thomas then but now he's over a feet taller than me. The guys grew large biceps and muscles, some grew facial hair and dreamy eyes, and the absolutely grew larger in other parts of their bodies which I shouldn't be talking about right now.
- But me? I still have my glasses from middle school, but this time it's bigger and thicker. I have freckles scattered across my face and my hair always looks like I was being electrocuted.
- I don't know a thing about make up, and due to my dad always picking out my clothes, I'm mostly seen wearing shorts and incredible long skirts with ridiculously large T shirts and turtle necks.
- Sometimes I couldn't understand why people were rude and mean to me in highschool and why almost all my friends from middle school found new cliques and groups and treated me like a stranger, but a greater part of me knew I wouldn't date me If I were someone else .
- So any chances I had with Thomas was one out of a billion, with one holding the fact that he was the ONLY guy in school that was nice to me and didn't want to barf when looking at my face.
- Come on… I've seen the girls who hover around him, and I don't stand a chance.
- But I'd wish he looked at me like I meant something to him more than just some girl his mother pities on and brings back home to wait on her dad because she lost her transport fee to bullies who she can't stand up to.
- However, the only person who knew about Dave bullying me aside some students was Mrs Gua, and I made her promise she'd never tell anyone, not even my dad.
- I love Dad, but there was really nothing he could do when he learns of it. The only solution was to change school, and what fee has he got to do so?
- I sneer in disgust as Mrs Gua ran her hand through my back pack where she had put back everything she could possibly pick from the toilet where Dave had dumped them in.
- I would make him pay for this!!!
