Chapter 12 Not Picky
- Jiang Xiaoxiao thought for a moment. How could that be?
- Who is Jin Zhishen? He is the president of the Jin Group! Someone at the top of the food chain! Why would he pick me up personally?
- For all I know, what he meant was he will be waiting for me at home.
- The more Jiang Xiaoxiao thought about it, the more she felt that her hunch was right. She dared not delay further and packed her stuff hurriedly and went downstairs as she tried to hail for a taxi back.
- It was still early thus the traffic was quite heavy. However, it was odd that there wasn’t any taxi available tonight even though she had waited for quite a while.
- Just when she became rather anxious, a black Bentley stopped in front of her quietly.
- After that, she saw two faces appeared in sight after the car window was wound down.
- They were both delicate and perfect almost as if one was the mini version of the other.
- The adult looked like a deity. At this moment, the mini version, who looked so adorable, was reaching out his plump short hands and waved at her excitedly, “Aunt Xiaoxiao, we are here to pick you up.”
- Jiang Xiaoxiao was stunned as she hurried forward to hold his hands, then looked at the man in the car briefly, “Mr. Jin, you don’t have to come here personally. I can go back on my own.”
- “It’s okay. Come on in. We can talk later.”
- Jin Zhishen loosened his tie then made space for Jiang Xiaoxiao to get into the car.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao hesitated for a moment but could only bite the bullet.
- She wasn’t expecting Jin Zhishen to come personally at all!
- When she was in the car, Bao immediately crawled onto her thighs as he asked for a hug.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao was extremely pleased to hug this gentle little child.
- Jin Zhishen folded his sleeves gracefully and asked casually, “Have you eaten?”
- “No,” Jiang Xiaoxiao replied and she asked immediately, “What about you guys? Have you all eaten?”
- She was so busy that she had forgotten the time. She was worried that Bao would be hungry too.
- Jin Zhishen seemed to be able to tell what’s on her mind and said, “Bao had some bread just now, but I have not had mine yet.”
- “That’s good,” Jiang Xiaoxiao was relieved but apologetic at the same time, “I am sorry. I forgot the time…”
- “It’s okay. Bao isn’t hungry.”
- Bao stayed in her hug obediently.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao laughed and tousled his head.
- It was quite unclear what Jin Zhishen was thinking when he looked at their interactions. He no longer looked cold, instead, his gaze was warm.
- He said blandly, “I had made a reservation tonight. Let’s have our dinner outside.”
- “You shouldn’t have...!”
- Jiang Xiaoxiao felt rather bizarre but she couldn’t pinpoint the problem and hesitated.
- Why do I feel like we are a family of three?
- However, Jin Zhishen wasn’t giving her any chance to reject, “It’s nothing. We have been bothering you for the past two days. It’s just a meal. It’s not a big deal. “
- While they were talking, they arrived at a Chinese restaurant.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao carried Bao out of the car and saw the signboard of the restaurant that said “Wang Jing Lou”.
- This place was highly-reputable.
- This restaurant was famous in Jin City. The interior design was extravagant. Coupled with the majestic and antique attic, they served mouth-watering dishes as well. Food magazines fought hard to feature them in their magazines. It was said that one would need to make a reservation of at least two months in advance before they could eat in the restaurant.
- In the past, Jiang Xiaoxiao would never have the budget to eat at such a luxurious restaurant.
- Now, because of the father and son, she could have a taste of the dishes offered by the restaurant.
- The trio walked into the restaurant together and were received by the waitress who brought them into a room.
- Looking at the menu on the table, Jin Zhishen asked Jiang Xiaoxiao, “Ms. Jiang, is there any food that you don’t eat?”
- Jiang Xiaoxiao shook her head, “No, I can eat anything.”
- Hmm… Not picky at all!
- Jin Zhishen smiled lightly, “Then I shall order accordingly.”
- He looked at the menu and ordered four dishes which was just enough for the three of them. Even if they couldn’t finish it, they wouldn’t waste much food.
- While they were waiting for the food to be served, Jin Zhishen sat silently without moving an inch.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao was talking to Bao from time to time so it wasn’t too awkward for her.
- After the dishes were served, Jin Zhishen asked suddenly, “Are you always so busy?”
- Jiang Xiaoxiao replied, “Not exactly. Previously I was only asked to run errands, so I wasn’t busy at all. This time, I was assigned to lead the project, hence I am a little busy,” She paused for a while before continuing, “Speaking of which, I should thank you for giving me the opportunity.”
- Jin Zhishen replied, “It’s not a big deal. Furthermore, I wasn’t the one who gave you the opportunity. It was Bao who had chosen you.”
- “Is that so?” Jiang Xiaoxiao was doubtful and seemed unconvinced.
- Jin Zhishen drank a mouthful of tea and said gracefully, “Of course.”
- Jiang Xiaoxiao blinked her eyes and accepted his words.
- After all, it doesn’t matter whether it was him or Bao. They were both the same.
- However, she was grateful and was even more determined to do well in planning the birthday party.
- After dinner, the trio left the restaurant together.
- Bao, who was so afraid that he would be brought back home, hugged Jiang Xiaoxiao’s thighs tightly as he hid behind her and looked at his daddy defensively.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao looked at him warily. I don’t think he is planning on staying for the night again, right?
- Jin Zhishen caught her expression briefly and he was amused, “Don’t worry. I have something tonight, so I will be heading back soon. “
- Upon hearing that, Jiang Xiaoxiao blushed and looked awkward.
- Jin Zhishen opened the car door for Jiang Xiaoxiao while hiding his grin.
- Half an hour later, the car arrived at Furong Garden. Jin Zhishen left after Jiang Xiaoxiao carried Bao home.
- The car returned back to Yulong Shengjin later that night.
- This was where the most prominent residences in Jin City were located. All those who lived here were either rich or reputable.
- Jin Zhishen entered the mansion after parking the car in the garage.
- The butler saw him and greeted him immediately. He took Jin Zhishen’s coat and said, “Young aster, welcome back.”
- “Hmm.” Jin Zhishen said while nodding his head slightly and changed his shoes.
- Just then, quick footsteps from inside the house could be heard. Jin Zhiyi and a middle-aged wealthy woman in a cheongsam came rushing out. They ran towards the door.
- “Brother, why are you so late?” Jin Zhiyi asked casually.
- The wealthy woman ignored him completely and was scouting around while asking, “Where is my sweetheart, Bao? Why is he not with you?”
- Jin Zhishen frowned and looked at her, “Why are you back so early? Didn’t Dad say you guys will only be back a few days later?”
- The wealthy woman appeared impatient as she replied, “I can’t wait. I have missed my sweetheart, Bao. Where is he? Where did you hide him?”
- “That’s right, brother, where is Bao? You wouldn’t have left him on the street, right? Mom and Dad came rushing home right after they got off the plane. They had not even returned to the old mansion yet.” Jin Zhiyi asked doubtfully.
- Jin Zhishen said calmly, “He is staying at… A friend’s place.”
- “What? You left Bao at your friend’s place? Which friend? How can you do this? Our Bao hates strangers. What if he cried in the middle of the night?”
- The wealthy woman was Jin Zhishen’s mom, Mrs. Jin. She became flustered and exasperated upon hearing that, “You rascal! What kind of a father are you? How could you do this? Quick, go bring Bao back!”
- Jin Zhiyi agreed with his mother and added, “That’s right, brother. How could you just leave Baby Bao with someone else? He is so cute. What if he was abducted?”
- Mr. Jin came out just in time to hear Jin Zhiyi’s words and he was shocked, “What happened? Your friend, is it a he or a she?”
- “……”
- Jin Zhishen was massaging his forehead as he felt troubled, “It’s a she.”
