Chapter 8 Probably Soon
- Jiang Xiaoxiao was a little stunned upon hearing this. What do you mean by sharing half of the bed? You are so rude.
- And, are you really Jin Zhishen?
- Rumor has it that you are noble and aloof. Obviously, only the first description about you is right. How could you say such a thing?
- Just when she was full of doubts, Jin Zhishen finally realized that he had said something that he shouldn’t have. He had tried to cover for his actions with a soft cough. Putting on a cold expression he said, “Bao hasn’t taken his shower yet. Ms. Jiang, I might have to bother you again.”
- Jiang Xiaoxiao recovered from her shock and replied, “Sure. No problem.”
- It was then that she realized that Jin Zhishen had quietly avoided the topic. For a moment, she felt helpless.
- However, she wasn’t stupid enough to bring up the topic again. She then went to look for clothes for Bao.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao’s home might have been small, but it had all the necessities required, including clothes for toddlers. She had a cupboard full of them.
- These were the clothes that she had prepared for the baby that she had lost.
- While she knew that she would never set her eyes on the baby again, she had still bought a set or two of clothing for the different seasons every year.
- Since Bao was of the same age as her son, Jiang Xiaoxiao took the little milk cow onesie, without much thought.
- So adorable!
- As for Jin Zhishen, she did not have anything for him to wear.
- Jin Zhishen didn’t mind at all.
- 20 minutes later, Jiang Xiaoxiao showered Bao and carried him out of the bathroom. The onesie pajamas were unexpectedly fitting as if it were specially bought for him.
- Jin Zhishen was lost in thought when he had seen this and her had almost wanted to ask her about it.
- However, after pondering, he decided to let it go.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao didn’t want to explain herself either since they had only just met. Even if they had known each other for long, she was unwilling to bring up the past.
- Hence, she carried Bao straight into the room before handing over a clean blanket to Jin Zhishen, “The sofa is a little too small for you. You might not be able to sleep well tonight.”
- “It’s okay. Thank you for tonight.”
- Jin Zhishen took the blanket, touching Jiang Xiaoxiao’s hand inadvertently.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao froze for a moment when their hands touched. She felt uncomfortable as she blushed and pulled her hands away.
- Jin Zhishen hadn’t recovered from his senses. Eyes dimmed; he fell into a daze.
- He had no idea why he had his guard down when it had come to Jiang Xiaoxiao.
- This was really something that was unprecedented.
- So strange!
- Jiang Xiaoxiao went to her room, unaware of Jin Zhishen’s strange thoughts. She took her pajamas, getting ready for a shower.
- It was so inconvenient, now that there was a man in her house.
- Luckily Jiang Xiaoxiao was conservative. Her pajamas were also well-covered. When she came out of the bathroom, Jin Zhishen was already lying on the sofa with his eyes closed, releasing gentle breaths.
- Looks like he had fallen asleep.
- Jiang Xiaoxiao felt a sense of relief in that instant as she switched off the lights, entering her room.
- She was unsuspecting of that the man behind her that had suddenly opened his eyes.
- His deep dark eyes were fixated on her.
- This woman was wearing a set of extremely conservative onesie pajamas with a cartoon teddy bear printed on it. She looked so childish and innocent. Strangely enough, Jin Zhishen felt hot and excited.
- His manly parts, which had always been well-controlled, was no longer restrained.
- “Bang!”
- The door was shut. Jin Zhishen was surprised that it took him quite a while to calm down.
- He… Actually had an urge towards a woman that he had just met in less than 24 hours.
- ……
- By the time she awoke, Jiang Xiaoxiao found that Jin Zhishen had already left. On the table was a note saying, “Something came up and I have to go. Sorry, I will have to bother you to take care of Bao. I will pick him up tonight and compensate you for any loss at your work.”
- Jiang Xiaoxiao didn’t know what to say after reading the note. What kind of father would leave his child at a stranger’s home? Wouldn’t he be worried that I might have had ulterior motives?
- After she had ridiculed the father, Jiang Xiaoxiao took out her handphone and called her manager to request for leave.
- She had thought that her application for leave would be rejected, as it was quite busy at work now.
- However, the manager immediately agreed and said, “I know about this. Someone from the Jin Group had called to inform us that you would be discussing the procedure and details of the birthday party with them. Xiaoxiao, do you know? We are relying on you for the success of this project. I hope that you can grasp the opportunity. If everything goes well, I promise you that I will reward you with 100 thousand in bonus!”
- Jiang Xiaoxiao was shocked.
- 100 thousand?
- This could settle close to several months of her mother’s hospitalization bills.
- She did not expect herself to be given such a reward because of Bao!
- ……
- At this moment, in the president office at Jin Group.
- Gu Nian was reporting to Jin Zhishen about his schedule for the day, “You have a management meeting at 9 a.m. and a shareholder’s meeting at 10. Then at 11am, you have a virtual meeting with the overseas branch office. At 2 pm, you had arranged a meeting with Mr. Guo from the Asia Pacific Bank. At 4pm, Mr. Gao from Global Group wanted to play golf with you. Mr. Song is having his birthday party at 7 pm tonight and has invited you over to attend the celebration.”
- Jin Zhishen was concentrating on the reports. Without lifting his head up, he said, “I will host all the morning meetings, but get Zhiyi to go for the meetings in the afternoon and for the event at night.”
- Just when Gu Nian was about to acknowledge his boss’s instruction, someone cried, “Why have I heard that I have been assigned such a pile of work, right upon my arrival? Brother, you are too cruel. I have just come back from a business trip and I haven’t taken a rest!”
- The person who had let out a cry was the second son of the Jin’s -- Jin Zhiyi. He was also the second in command in the Jin Group.
- Though seemingly cynical and carefree, he was just as capable as his brother at work. In addition to that, he was handsome, graceful and suave, hence the reason why he would often represent the Jin Group, appearing in the media. Countless number of women were crazy over him.
- His popularity was on par with Jin Zhishen.
- Suddenly, instead of continuing his desperate rant, he stopped his complains. He looked as though he had to flee.
- Jin Zhishen turned to him slowly as he ordered with an unassailable voice, “Come in!”
- Jin Zhiyi groaned and walked in cautiously.
- Gu Nian felt sympathetic towards him, greeting, “Mr. Jin Zhiyi.”
- Jin Zhiyi waved in response and handed his elder brother the materials that he was holding.
- He was only here to deliver documents. Who would have expected that he would have such rotten luck? He couldn’t help trying salvage his situation, “Zhishen, I have a date tonight. I cannot stand in your place tonight,”
- Jin Zhishen was unmoved, “All the women around you would not fly away even if you didn’t date them for a day.”
- “Who said so? I had spent a lot of effort on this one!” Jin Zhiyi argued with conviction.
- Jin Zhishen sneered, “These women only want to have fun. You might as well dump them. If you could, marry a decent one. I think our parents would be pleased.”
- Upon hearing that, Jin Zhiyi was perturbed, “Brother, can you stop bringing up such a scary topic? I believe in “Bachelorism”. I will not tie down myself to any woman. Take a look at our dad! He has been controlled by our mom, just about all his life. Every time that I see him, I feel as if life could never be more meaningless.”
- “You are not young anymore. Just a while ago, our mom shared with me a stack of photos of ladies from some influential families. They all looked decent. I think we can set you up with one of them.”
- Jin Zhishen sent him a threatening glare.
- Jin Zhiyi sobbed and replied angrily, “I am still young. I am merely 27 which is 2 years younger than you. You aren’t getting married yet, so why should I either?”
- Suddenly, Jin Zhishen fell silent, “Who knows? I might soon.”
