Chapter 2 The Whereabouts of Her Babies
- Seven years later, various media reporters, as well as countless fervent fans, surrounded the resplendent Grand Star Hotel. Today was the day the actress, Amelia Ramos, would officially sign a contract with Starry Media—a media company under the Knight Group.
- Inside a black car not far away, Grace pulled her baseball cap low over her face. Then, she glanced at her son, Noah Thompson, and said, “Take good care of your sister. I’ll be right back.”
- In the backseat sat a cool-looking little boy. His young and tender hands were flying across his tablet as he worked on it while the screen flashed with a dazzling array of codes. After hearing what his mom said, he looked up. “Are you sure you’ll be fine alone?”
- “Are you questioning Mommy’s abilities?” Grace’s daughter, Kayleigh Thompson, slapped her brother unhappily. “You’re not allowed to pick on Mommy!”
- Noah frowned. “How was I picking on Mommy? I was worried about her, okay?”
- “Worrying isn’t allowed either. Mommy is the best. You’ll definitely succeed! I’m cheering for you!” Kayleigh leaned over and planted a kiss on Grace’s face, cheering her on.
- Grace patted her daughter’s head. “Kelly is still the most caring of all.”
- Back then, she was on the verge of death when she was thrown into the mountains behind the village. As luck would have it, she found Noah, her eldest, and Kayleigh, her youngest, abandoned there. At the time, both of them were close to dying too.
- Then, she was saved by her savior, who was passing by. Thus, all three of them survived. Over the years, she had lived with her savior in the village, but she had never given up on looking for the rest of her children.
- It’s been seven years, and I finally located Natasha! Today, I’m definitely going to ask her about the whereabouts of my children!
- Concealing the hatred written across her face, she got out of the car and entered the hotel.
- Noah stared at his mom’s back. Pondering for a moment, he pressed on his tablet several times. Following that, all the footage from the surveillance cameras of the hotel appeared on the screen instantly.
- The signing ceremony had officially begun. Starry Media had invited all the well-known media companies within the country to attend the ceremony, intending to create a lot of prestige surrounding the event to support Amelia from the moment she signed the contract.
- Amelia confidently made various poses as she stood under the spotlight; her expression was full of confidence. Out of the blue, she felt her stomach hurting.
- The assistant standing beside her quickly noticed that something was wrong. “What’s wrong?”
- “My stomach hurts. I’m going to the restroom for a bit.” Clutching at her stomach, she rushed to the restroom.
- Grace followed after her stealthily, then conveniently locked the restroom door behind her.
- The sound of the lock clicking into place surprised Amelia. Turning around, she pointed at Grace angrily. “Who are you? Who allowed you to enter?”
- At that moment, her stomach was cramping very badly and she had no time to be delayed by the other party.
- “Do you really not recognize me?” Grace stepped forward and took off her baseball cap.
- Then, Natasha shuddered in fright. “G-Grace?!”
- Grace forced Natasha into a corner of the restroom, step by step, then grabbed her by the collar. “Natasha, did you really think that just because you got plastic surgery and changed your name, I wouldn’t be able to find you?”
- “W-What do you want?” Natasha looked terrified.
- Grace, who was standing in front of her, looked like a demon that came straight out of hell—her eyes were red, and her expression was furious. It scared her so badly that her stomach started hurting even more.
- “Tell me; where are my children?”
- As she had been living a smooth and successful life over the recent years, she had never been disrespected like this before. Thus, she shrieked resentfully, “If you have the ability, then look for them yourself!”
- “Are you not going to tell me?” Grace wasn’t anxious. On the contrary, she sneered coldly.
- “W-What’s with your expression?!” Natasha felt a chill in her heart.
- Leaning close to her ear, Grace whispered threateningly, “Do you know why your stomach is hurting right now?”
- “What?” Then, Natasha immediately recalled drinking the milk tea that her assistant bought for her from the milk tea shop next door about 30 minutes ago. “Did you do something to the milk tea?”
- Grace released her. “I guess you’re not that dumb. If you won’t tell me today, I will spike your food next time. As for what I might put into it, it’ll have to depend on my mood at the time!”
- “Grace, this is a hotel. There are surveillance cameras everywhere. I’ll sue you for this!” She made another desperate attempt.
- “Surveillance cameras? Sue me? Hey, superstar, are you sure you dare to do that? Aren’t you worried I might spill the beans on what you did to me seven years ago?” Grace sneered again.
- The pain in Natasha’s stomach was unbearable, and she could no longer be delayed.
- Even so, Grace grabbed Natasha’s arm and laughed evilly. “Say, will the breaking news of the superstar, Amelia Ramos, soiling her dress be shocking enough? Will Young Master Edward still be attracted to you after that?”
- She had investigated the reasons behind Natasha’s success—Natasha had only managed to score a contract with Starry Media due to the favor the second young master of the Knight Group showered her with.
- “Grace, hurry up and let me go!” Natasha struggled hard, but her efforts were futile.
- “Will you tell me, or not?”
- Aware that she could no longer hold it in, she finally begged for forgiveness. “I’ll tell you; I’ll tell you.”
- Revenge is a dish best served cold. I worked so hard for so long and finally got into the good graces of Young Master Edward. I cannot allow all my efforts to go to waste all because of an ugly b*tch like Grace!
- “No.8 was too weak and Madam Hollie refused to accept her. So, I dumped her in front of Rainwell Orphanage. As for the rest, Madam Hollie took them away with her.”
- “Madam Hollie?” That wanted woman?
- By the looks of things, Natasha wasn’t lying.
- “I’ll believe you for the time being. If I find out that you lied to me, you’ll pay for it!” Walking out of the restroom, Grace came to the lobby. Then, she passed by two figures—one large and one small.
- “Dad, it’s so boring here. I want to go home.”
- “Bear with it a little more; we’ll leave soon.”
- She stopped in her tracks abruptly. By the time she whipped her head back to look, that tall and handsome man holding the hand of a little girl that was wearing a mask had disappeared around the corner.
- Christopher Knight?!
- Back then, she had accidentally slept together with President Knight… Although she had not deliberately searched up information on him, the rumors surrounding him had been all over the streets.
- According to public opinion, he was a genius in business. It took him less than seven years to lead the Knight Group into international markets and turn it into an internationally-renowned conglomerate.
- I can’t believe such a cold-hearted man actually has a daughter! I wonder what woman could stand that cold attitude of his.
- Thinking back on the ruthless methods he employed to deal with women, Grace couldn’t help feeling a chill running down her spine.
- No matter what, I must never let him learn of the children’s existence! Otherwise, the consequences will be unimaginable.
- As soon as she got into the car, Noah piped up, “Mommy, are we going to visit Rainwell Orphanage now?”
