Chapter 144 I Don’t Believe in Marriage
- When she saw him appear at the police station, her first instinct was to leap into his arms in search of his comfort. All she wanted to do was to tell him how everything had happened and share with him the burden of searching for a child. She no longer knew how to speak to Christopher as she was afraid that she would blurt everything out after she had the idea to do so in her head. They didn’t have feelings for one another and were only together because of Jenna’s situation, but she didn’t know what decision he would arrive at if he ever discovered the existence of her nine children. They would either head to court to fight for child custody or he would force himself to continue to maintain a pretentious marriage where they appeared to be united although they were divided at heart. She didn’t want either one of those outcomes. If a parents’ marriage wasn’t done out of true love, it could be covertly harmful to their children as well.
- He shot Grace a glance before holding onto her hand when they arrived at a red light. He had rushed out of his home and drove himself instead of waiting for the driver because of the urgent situation. “Don’t worry, honey; I’m here with you!”
- Grace’s head continued to hang low before she finally spoke, “President Knight, I’ll appreciate it if you stop calling me that. We don’t have feelings for one another and we’re only in this fake marriage for Jenna’s sake. Once she’s made a full recovery, I hope that you’ll stick to your promise and immediately file for a divorce with me.”
