Chapter 11 The Incident Back Then
- “Hahaha!” Jake laughed as he escaped out the door.
- Christopher got up and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window in irritation, looking down at the crowd below that was bustling about like ants. The incident that had occurred seven years ago was the biggest shame in his life. After waking up the next day and seeing the mess littered across the floor, the first thing he did was to check the hotel’s surveillance cameras. Unfortunately, he was informed that the surveillance equipment had been destroyed, and all of the data could not be retrieved.
- Later, he finally discovered that the person who drugged him turned out to be Bethany. Hence, he had always assumed that the woman he slept with that night was Bethany. Due to that, he had entered the Knight Group after graduating from university and desperately exacted his revenge by suppressing the Johnson Group. However, Bethany had brought Molly home three years ago, and the paternity test indicated that Molly was his biological daughter. When he interrogated Bethany about it, she had adamantly insisted that she knew nothing. It’s been seven years. Even so, I still haven’t managed to discover who the girl I met that night was.
- Closing his eyes, he subconsciously recalled the events of what had happened that night. The girl had been very young and seemed to be drunk as she stumbled into his room. At the time, the effects of the drugs in his system had reached their peak. Before that girl could turn on the lights, he carried her up and pressed her down against the bed. Throughout their entire love-making session, she had been very nervous and at a loss of what to do. Even so, she clumsily matched his movements.
- Due to the use of the drugs, he couldn’t remember how long he had continued making love to her. All he vaguely remembered was that girl’s soft whimpering at the end, saying something like it wasn’t fun. That was probably the first time she had had sex as there was a trace of blood staining the bed sheets the next day. Thinking back on it, it had all been nothing more than a coincidental mistake.
- All these years, he had been indifferent toward women and sex because none of the women could attract his attention. Only when he recalled the events of that night would he experience the impulsive lust a man should have…
- So many years had gone by since then, but with Molly growing up day-by-day, his wish to find that girl grew stronger and stronger. Also, he wanted to ask her why she abandoned Molly at the orphanage after giving birth to her…
- …
- Christopher had to bring Molly to the amusement park on Sunday. Therefore, Mr. Reeves gave a call to Grace the night before to cancel the dessert-making session scheduled on Sunday.
- Grace slept in until 7 in the morning before she got out of bed. It was a rare, leisurely weekend. Stretching her limbs, she got up to prepare breakfast for Noah and Kayleigh. She had just finished preparing breakfast when her phone rang suddenly—it was Molly. Thus, she answered the call joyfully. “Hello?”
- Molly’s cheerful voice came through from the other side of the phone. “Miss Grace, where is your house located?”
- Grace was taken aback for a moment, then she gently replied, “My house is not far from Victory Elementary School. Why do you ask?”
- “Daddy is bringing me to the amusement park. Can you go with us?”
- “Uh… is that okay?”
- “Of course, it’s okay! Send me your address. I’ll send the driver to pick you up at 9.” After saying that, Molly ended the call without waiting for Grace to answer.
- Then, Grace stared at the phone in a daze. If I can go to the amusement park with Molly, I certainly would have jumped at the opportunity immediately. But, I have to go together with President Knight as well. That man is too intelligent and careful. If I were even the slightest bit careless, he might notice something immediately. Randomly pulling at her hair, she exclaimed with a distressed expression, “What do I do?! Do I go, or not?!”
- At this moment, Kayleigh walked out of the bedroom, rubbing at her sleepy eyes. “Mommy, where are you going?”
- Noah suddenly poked his head out of the bathroom and piped up, “I heard it. Molly asked you to accompany her to the amusement park, right?”
- “When did you wake up?” Grace looked surprised.
- He smiled. “While you were on the phone with Molly.”
- “Since you’re out of bed, quickly go wash up and eat your breakfast,” she called her son and daughter over to the dining table.
- Taking a bite of porridge, he said, “Mommy, I think you should go. It’s a rare opportunity; you should make Molly like you. That way, we can snatch her back.”
- Kayleigh glanced at her brother then nodded in agreement. “Yeah. I think you should go too, Mommy. And, bring the two of us along with you too.”
- Then, he poked her head with his finger. “What are you thinking? You and Molly look identical! If Daddy saw you, wouldn’t everything be exposed?!”
- “Daddy?” Grace fixed her gaze on her son suddenly.
- Noah cautiously asked, “Molly is our sister, and Christopher is her father. Doesn’t that make him our father too?”
