Chapter 10 Preparing For Change

• Neil makes me give him Mia. He takes her into the pyramid and the door slams shut behind him. I immediately feel a pit in my stomach. Somehow, I’ve grown attached to this baby despite only being near it for a few hours. I’m protective of her and it hurts me to know that she’s gone.
• As soon as the door closes, Archer is on me like a hawk. He grabs my wrist and wrenches me towards him. We’re chest to chest again. He looms over me, almost a foot taller than me. His eyes are licked with fire. I try and pull away but his grip on me is iron.
• “I need you to know,” he says, low and taunting. It’s terrifying. It’s a threat. “I don’t agree with this fucking idiotic idea. I will be watching you. Your every move. And I’ll be waiting for you to fuck something up. Then, I’ll step in and ruin you.”
