Chapter 3 Mister, Someone Was Bullying Your Wife!

  • “Don’t worry, I’ll handle my own tuition and won’t use any of your money,” Amelia said after finishing her meal, then left the table.
  • “Look at her attitude! If she were even half as considerate as Sophia, I’d be able to sleep peacefully.”
  • To her parents, Sophia was a prized possession, while Amelia was just a low weed to be trampled on.
  • ……
  • The next day, Amelia arrived at the Carter Group building as Ethan had instructed.
  • Wow, it's the Carter Group?! Really?!
  • What could be the connection between Mister and the Carter Group?
  • As she was about to enter, she heard a surprised voice behind her.
  • “Amelia, what are you doing here?”
  • Amelia turned around to see Sophia getting out of a red sports car, with William standing beside her.
  • William’s eyes brightened at the sight of the attractive Amelia. “Sophia, who is this beautiful lady?”
  • Sophia gritted her teeth and replied, “This is my sister, Amelia.”
  • William straightened his hair and said pompously, "Ms. Amelia, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m William. You must have heard of the Brooks family? We supply all the building materials in Oceancliff.”
  • Amelia was put off by William’s lecherous look and had no desire to engage with him.
  • “I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving.”
  • Sophia, thinking quickly, stopped Amelia. “Amelia, what are you here for? You’re not here for a job, are you?”
  • “Yes, I’m here for a job.”
  • “Are you here to clean?”
  • Amelia frowned. “What I do is none of your business.”
  • “Why are you demeaning yourself by working as a cleaner? If you’re short on money, you should have told me,” Sophia mocked, covering her mouth with a smile.
  • “She’s a cleaner?” William grimaced with disgust and took a step back. “How revolting! I hope she doesn’t have a trashy smell. That would be awful!”
  • Sophia threw her empty milk tea on the ground and said, “Here, clean this up!”
  • Amelia responded calmly, “Even if I am here to clean, it’s better than selling myself. How many men are hanging around you, giving you expensive clothes and bags? I earn my money through honest work, and I’m not ashamed of it.”
  • “Oh, and by the way, I won’t tell Mr. William that this bag was a gift from Mr. Mason.”
  • With that, Amelia turned and walked into the Carter Group building.
  • “What bag? Sophia, is she telling the truth?” William asked, annoyed.
  • “No, that’s not true! This bag was a reward from my mom for being the top student in my finals!” Sophia insisted.
  • “I’m sorry, Sophia. I should have believed you,” William said, squeezing Sophia’s slim waist and licking his lips. “Let’s catch a movie after I close this deal for you. There’s a new couples’ cinema that’s supposed to be great.”
  • Sophia giggled and pushed his hand away. “No, I can’t. My mom doesn’t want me out late.”
  • She thought to herself.
  • What a joke! Went to a dark cinema with you and had you make advances? Did he think I’m that gullible?
  • ……
  • Amelia entered the Carter Group building but was stopped by security.
  • “Out! This isn’t a place for high school students to wander around!”
  • With her ponytail and backpack, Amelia looked young and lively, still showing the signs of just graduating high school.
  • “I have an appointment.”
  • “With whom?”
  • “With Mr. Carter,” Amelia replied, mentioning Mister’s name. “His name is Ethan!”
  • The guards exchanged skeptical glances and then waved her away. “What are you talking about? We’re busy here! This isn’t a place for kids to play around. Leave now!”
  • They began to push her out.
  • Just as Amelia was at a loss, she suddenly spotted a familiar face.
  • “Olivia!”
  • She escaped from the security guards and ran up to Olivia, exclaiming in surprise, “Olivia, it’s really you!”
  • Olivia was Amelia's high school classmate. Her father, Henry, was a junior manager in the HR department at Carter Group.
  • Henry had arranged for Olivia to intern at Carter Group before college started, giving her resume a significant boost.
  • Olivia gave Amelia a quick look and asked the guards, “What’s happening here?”
  • The guards, knowing Olivia’s father was an important HR figure, were wary.
  • One guard hesitantly said, “She claims Mr. Carter asked her to come, but we thought she was joking.”
  • Olivia raised an eyebrow. “Mr. Carter? Our CEO?”
  • Amelia had no idea that Ethan was the CEO of Carter Group and was unaware of his position.
  • She hesitated and said, “I’m not entirely sure. I think…”
  • “Think?” Olivia’s voice turned sharp. “Amelia, what are you dreaming about?”
  • Amelia’s smile faded. “What do you mean?”
  • Olivia smirked and taunted, “We all graduated high school, but look at me—I’m already interning at Carter Group. I’m building up my resume!
  • “And you? You’re still here pretending to be in a teen drama, thinking that you’re here to see Mr. Carter and hoping to catch his attention? You’re seriously delusional. It’s laughable!”
  • Olivia had always looked down on Amelia, often mocking her as a rural bumpkin behind her back.
  • Amelia’s claim of an appointment with Mr. Carter was especially irritating.
  • Olivia sneered, thinking that if Mr. Carter were interested in women, he’d prefer someone like herself with a desirable figure.
  • “I’m going to share this in our class group and let everyone see how ridiculous you are!”
  • As Olivia pulled out her phone to type a message and glared at the security guards, she added, “Why are you still standing there? Get her out of here quickly, or I’ll tell my dad, and you’ll all be fired!”
  • Angry, Amelia dialed Ethan’s number. “Mister, someone is bullying your wife!”
  • There was a brief silence on the other end before Ethan’s calm, deep voice replied, “Where are you?”
  • “I’m at the address you gave me. They’re trying to kick me out!” Amelia’s voice trembled with emotion.
  • Hearing the distress in Amelia’s voice, Ethan felt a pang of worry and frustration.
  • “Mister, you are the CEO of Carter Group, right?”
  • “Yes.”
  • “I’m your wife, so I’m Mrs. Carter, correct?”
  • Ethan smiled, pleased. “Yes.”
  • Amelia glared at Olivia and the security guards, raising her voice. “I want the people who are bullying me removed. Can you do that?”
  • “Yes.”
  • Olivia, treating Amelia as a joke, shared the incident in their class group, leading to widespread mockery and ridicule.
