Chapter 23 The Disadvantage
- After hanging up the phone, I took a while to regain my composure. I was left mulling over Lincoln's words, my complicated emotions refusing to settle. What kind of department is the National Security Agency's special operations team? They must possess a great deal of authority, right? Logically speaking, having connections with such a department should be a good thing. However, I honestly don't want to have any involvement with such governmental organizations. Since time immemorial, there's a saying that goes, “It can be dangerous to follow a person of authority.” In my eyes, such a department is akin to an enormous, unrivaled tiger. The slightest misstep and I'd be devoured whole. I'm merely a small player, and I never imagined I would have any encounter with such a department. Lincoln must have intentionally gone on a long trip this time. If he were here, there's no way this department would have approached me.
- Pressing my finger on my chin, I continued pondering. In Lincoln's view, this is my opportunity, but in mine, it seems more like he's pushing me right into a fire. Of course, if I can make this department owe me a favor, it'll certainly be beneficial for my future. However, do I possess such capability? Helping them once sounds easier than it is. If they can't handle the issue that they need my help with, what can I possibly do better than them? D*mn it, that old b*stard really did set a huge trap for me!
- I scowled as I cursed Lincoln countless times in my mind. If he were standing before me at that moment, I would have undoubtedly drawn a knife and chopped him up without hesitation.
