Chapter 10 Something Is Off About This Place
- Ten minutes later, I was tossed out of the traditional medicine clinic.
- Yes, I was thrown out!
- D*mn! This old man had violent tendencies! His strength was incredible, making me feel like a mere infant in his presence.
- After I was cast out, the doors of the traditional medicine clinic slammed shut behind me.
- Getting up from the ground, I dusted off my clothes and subtly flipped off the traditional medicine clinic, muttering a curse under my breath. Then, with a sense of helplessness, I left the place.
- Although Lincoln had kicked me out, he had given me an address, suggesting I stay there for a while.
- I told him about the haunting at the hotel last night, but he didn't take it seriously, saying that once I went to that place, no ghost would dare to mess with me.
- I was deeply skeptical about what he said and wanted to extend our conversation, but he grew impatient and cast me out directly.
- The address Lincoln gave me wasn't far from this entertainment district. It was a residential apartment complex.
- Azure River Residence was a middle-grade residential area that had seen its fair share of years. The security guards were more or less just for show, with no real scrutiny of those who came and went from the residential area.
- Upon entering the residential area, I noticed the commendable job done with the greenery around. The scenery was quite pleasant.
- I found the address Lincoln had given and came to the eighth floor of the building, stopping in front of Unit 801.
- Soon after I softly knocked, the door opened from the inside.
- I was instantly stunned when I saw the person in the apartment unit.
- A striking woman in her twenties had answered the door. Her oval face, fresh and elegant, had a subtle hint of sensuous languor that stirred the soul. With her shoulder-length hair loosely draped over her shoulders, she exuded an overwhelming sense of youthful beauty.
- Standing at around one point seven meters tall, she had a slender figure with curves in all the right places. She was dressed in a short nightgown, her long, fair legs enough to make anyone's heart tremble. They were as smooth and delicate as white jade. She wore a pair of flip-flops, her toenails painted a bright red, adding an unusual allure.
- She was undeniably beautiful.
- The woman before me was as captivating as Lilith. My wife in name only was as frigid as an iceberg. However, this woman was different, her languid charm enough to melt anyone.
- “Can I help you?” She leaned against the doorframe, giving me a lazy glance.
- Snapping back to reality, I let out a soft cough to ease my racing heart, a somewhat awkward smile spreading across my face. For a moment, I couldn't figure out what to say.
- Lincoln only told me to come here, and I hadn't expected to find a gorgeous woman, which left me momentarily at a loss for words.
- Seeing that I remained silent, she casually moved to close the door.
- I hurriedly said, “Um, excuse me, but I came from Macroflora Hall. Old Mr. Zeller sent me.”
- After I finished speaking, the beautiful woman paused in closing the door. Her lovely eyes stared at me quizzically as she asked, her tone languid, “What did Lincoln send you here for?”
- “Um...” I scratched my head sheepishly and replied, “He asked me to stay here for a while...”
- Having no idea about the relationship between Lincoln and the gorgeous woman before me, I was ready for the possibility of being turned away as I spoke.
- However, after I finished speaking, the woman seemed to look at me with an even more peculiar gaze.
- She muttered something under her breath, which I didn't quite catch.
- “Come in!” she said softly, turning and walking further inside.
- Watching her retreating figure and taking in the sight of her slender waist and her well-rounded, perky behind, I felt a surge of heat rise in my lower abdomen. Swallowing hard, I followed her into the unit.
- The apartment had three bedrooms and a living room, and the space was fairly sizable.
- She led me into one of the bedrooms, leaning against the doorframe as she casually informed me, “From now on, this is your room. You're not allowed in the other two rooms without my permission, and don't bring any random people over. Make sure the room is cleaned daily...”
- She touched on some dos and don'ts, which were a bit stringent but acceptable.
- The room was fully furnished and ready for immediate move-in. A quick tidying up was all it needed.
- However, a lingering concern remained in my heart. Due to the incident at the hotel last night, I was worried it might happen again.
- Although Lincoln claimed that no ghost would dare to give me trouble after moving in here, I remained skeptical about his assurances, feeling they weren't entirely reliable.
- After a simple tidy-up of the room, I made my way into the living room.
- The beautiful woman was partially reclining on the living room couch. Her short nightgown already had an alluring appeal, and her current posture only added to it. The subtle hint of allure that was visible stirred boundless imagination.
- As a hot-blooded man, my face instantly flushed red at the sight.
- She glanced at me, seemingly peering into my inner thoughts. With an ambiguous smile, she asked, “Feeling shy?”
- While speaking, she deliberately tugged at the hem of her short dress. Consequently, the top part shifted downward considerably, revealing an enticing view of her cleavage that almost made my nose bleed.
- I averted my gaze, somewhat embarrassed. Turning my attention to the television in the living room, I noticed it was playing a rather old TV show, “My Date With a Vampire.”
- “Do you enjoy watching these types of TV shows?” I asked, trying to make conversation. Laughing, I added, “Aren't most girls nowadays into TV shows that feature young, handsome actors?”
- She gave a noncommittal hum, replying lazily, “I'm not a fan of young, handsome actors. They're too superficial. I don't particularly enjoy this TV show either, merely that some elements in it I find mildly interesting, just enough to keep me watching!”
- After a chat and some introductions, I learned her name was Chelsea Zeller. Beyond her name, however, I knew nothing else about her.
- Not long after, she stretched languidly, her attractive figure outlined in the process.
- I wasn't sure whether she was clueless or didn't see me as a typical man, but she was always unintentionally or intentionally teasing my visual senses. She didn't seem to fear that I might lose control and act on my desires right then and there.
- “It's gotten dark. Time to head out and stretch my legs!” With that, she retreated to her room, changing into casual wear before heading out the door.
- I sensed something strange about this woman but couldn't pinpoint where exactly. It could also be that I was just being a bit overly sensitive.
- After she left, I watched TV for a while before pulling out my phone to call my grandfather. The line buzzed with a busy tone. With a soft sigh, I showered and returned to my room.
- It was well past ten in the evening, and Chelsea still hadn't returned. I had no idea where she had gone. Eventually, I fell into a deep sleep.
- In my dream, I was surrounded by beautiful women, left and right, and on cloud nine. The woman beside me would sometimes take the form of Chelsea, and at other times, she would appear as Lilith, leaving me engrossed in blissful distraction.
- Regrettably, this erotic dream was fleeting. It didn't take long before I was roused from my slumber, awakened by the chill!
- The temperature in the room plummeted abruptly, as though plunged into the depths of winter.
- Shivering slightly, I opened my eyes blearily. Spotting a silhouette seated by the windowsill, I was instantly jolted awake, all traces of sleepiness gone.
- Lilith! Why did she show up again? Could it be that someone else is out to get me?
- I got up and sat at the head of the bed, staring blankly at her.
- As for her, she looked at me with slightly furrowed brows, saying softly, “Get out of here as soon as you can!”
- “Huh?” I was left a bit baffled by her statement.
- Her frown deepened as she continued, “Something's off about this place. That woman—”
- Bang!
- She was interrupted by a loud noise before she could finish her sentence.
- My bedroom door was forcefully kicked open, and a graceful figure appeared in the doorway. It was none other than the stunning beauty, Chelsea.
