Alexander had never felt so numb in his life. The moment he had discovered the truth about Ava’s sacrifice—her giving him her eye—he felt a surge of regret and guilt that swallowed him whole. But nothing could have prepared him for the blow that came next.
It started as a normal visit to the hospital. He had just received confirmation that Ava had been admitted, and in a desperate attempt to make things right, he arrived to apologize.
