Chapter 7 Is This Man Her Boss

  • The next morning, Tang Xuchun got up early.
  • The first thing she did was to check for new bruises. She was relieved to find none. And she didn’t have any weird dreams last night as well. Sighing in relief, she got off the bed to carry out her morning routine.
  • Today was her first day at Yiyao Corporation, and Tang Xuchun was beyond thrilled. She got up to get ready way ahead of time and picked out a formal outfit for herself which consisted of a pair of black wide-legged pants and a ruffled blouse in pale yellow. She also styled her long dark hair into a clean bun for a slick, professional look.
  • In the mirror, the young woman’s porcelain skin and beautiful bright eyes were obvious.
  • As a whole, she appeared as a mix of fresh bashfulness and spicy maturity. Upon closer inspection, however, one could easily tell by the look in her eyes that she was an innocent girl yet to be tainted by the world.
  • After breakfast, the butler gave Tang Xuchun a ride to Yiyao Corporation.
  • She looked up at the sky-scraper that shot up into the clouds. Painted gold, the sign Yiyao Corporation was so glaring it was almost intimidating.
  • Tang Xuchun blinked and her eyes sparkled as she took in the view. Full of hope and anticipation in her heart, she let out a wide grin.
  • My goal is to work hard and save up. Once Grandma’s illness is cured, I’ll take her away with me.
  • You can do it, Tang Xuchun!
  • In front of the entrance, she noticed an ocean of flower arrangements alongside a red carpet that rolled right up to the large revolving doors. There was also a huge banner that had some sort of welcoming words for the president printed on it. It was quite a grand scene.
  • Not paying much attention, Tang Xuchun skimmed through the displays and hurriedly entered the building.
  • She had just gone inside when a Rolls-Royce Phantom drove up and parked at the edge of the red carpet.
  • “Young Master Yanfeng, would you like to take a break? You haven’t slept at all,” suggested Qi Hai, who was in the driver’s seat.
  • He Yanfeng had just gotten off a flight after accompanying his brother to a medical facility overseas. He was still rather jet-lagged from it.
  • At the back of the car, He Yanfeng was leaning into his seat in a smart suit. His eyebrows were lightly creased as he closed his eyes for some rest.
  • Even though he was just sitting there silently, he still gave off an unapproachable and intimidating vibe.
  • “Young Master Yanfeng, are you really showing your face today at the company?” Qi Hai was never one to pry, but today was special and he couldn’t help but ask.
  • He Yanfeng had always operated the company from behind the scenes and had never appeared in public before. Now, he had suddenly announced himself as President of the company and decided to manage it by himself in full view of the public. If those people find out about this, then the consequences would be...
  • “You’re chatty today,” He Yanfeng told Qi Hai, annoyed by how the latter had interrupted the silence. He Yanfeng still sounded menacing despite his voice being raspy from exhaustion.
  • His long eyelashes fluttered upward as he opened his eyes and shot a sharp look at Qi Hai.
  • In the silent cabin of the car, his prominent jawline and thin red lips created a face so striking that it could stop anyone in their tracks. But at the same time, he also looked impenetrable and dangerous.
  • Qi Hai zipped his lips at once. He stepped out of the car and then opened the door for He Yanfeng.
  • Standing at the beginning of a never-ending red carpet, He Yanfeng lowered his gaze. His well-tailored black suit flattered his body shape and the commanding aura he carried. He looked like an emperor, or even a god who belonged on Mount Olympus.
  • Although he was such a knockout, his air of aloofness was far from inviting.
  • Qi Hai stood still behind He Yanfeng.
  • By then the higher-ups of the company had already assembled at the entrance to welcome him.
  • No matter how powerful or experienced these people were, they were all under He Yanfeng now and had to respectfully address him as President.
  • Walking through the line of people who bowed to him, He Yanfeng acknowledged them indifferently and entered the building.
  • It went without saying that He Yanfeng was now the center of attention.
  • Upon his first visit to the company, the first task of the previously invisible president was not to conduct a meeting but to... inspect the building!
  • Though everyone was on pins and needles, they couldn’t help but admire He Yanfeng’s good looks and charisma.
  • Tang Xuchun had just had her paperwork done at the Human Resources department. Walking out, she examined the staff pass in delight over and over again.
  • When she was making a turn along the hallway, she accidentally ran into a wall of flesh.
  • “Ow.” Tang Xuchun’s forehead bumped into the other person’s chin. She placed a hand on her forehead and took a few steps back as she gasped in pain.
  • “I’m very sorry...”
  • As soon as she looked up, her gorgeous eyes widened as if she had seen a ghost!
  • “Y-Y-You... It’s you! The devil that keeps haunting me!” Tang Xuchun was certain that this was the ghost in her dream.
  • Why is that hotel employee here?
  • Good God! Tang Xuchun was already a bundle of nerves to begin with. Seeing that familiar face almost gave her a heart attack.
  • “Are you blind or dumb? How could you collide into our president? Which department are you from? Someone get her fired right now!” A middle-aged manager came up and scolded her.
  • He Yanfeng was unfazed. He narrowed his eyes as he sized Tang Xuchun up and down.
  • Relishing the frightened look on her face, his lips curled up in amusement.
  • “Devil? I’m afraid there’s some kind of misunderstanding between us.” With a smirk on his face, this version of He Yanfeng was entirely different from their intimidating president who walked formidably on the red carpet just minutes ago.
  • The manager who had scolded Tang Xuchun was not the only one baffled by the shift of attitude. The feeling was mutual among the staff as well.
  • Mr. President is truly unpredictable.
  • Tang Xuchun’s forehead was already in pain from before. Now that she had hit it on the same spot again, the pain became even worse. However, seeing this man before her completely distracted her from the physical agony.
  • She quickly recovered from her fright and took a look at the entourage behind He Yanfeng. His status in this company couldn’t be clearer.
  • How could I have missed that before?
  • “You... you...” Tang Xuchun struggled to form a complete sentence as she lifted her head to look at him.
  • In the end, she couldn’t even speak properly.
  • He Yanfeng looked down at her in such a threatening manner that Tang Xuchun felt like she might be devoured by him any minute. Her instinct told her to run but her body wouldn’t listen, as her legs seemed to be planted firmly into the ground.
  • Oh Lord... Why does the president look exactly like the hotel employee from the other night?
  • Embarrassed, Tang Xuchun wished the ground could open up and swallow her.
  • “Translation Intern?” He Yanfeng noticed the staff pass in her hands.
  • Tang Xuchun covered it up timidly. Her grumpy expression made her look like an angry lion cub whose tail had been stepped on.
  • “Great. I happen to need translation for some documents. Follow me.” He Yanfeng walked past her without giving her another look as he smiled to himself.
  • Let’s settle all our scores now, both old and new!
