  • Byron sat in his dimly lit office with a half-empty bottle of whiskey in one hand and a glass in the other. His mind spiraled as the walls seemed to close in on him. He knew Alex was closing in. The files, the betrayals from within his camp, even his once-loyal men turning against him.

  • The pathetic sight of him nursing a drink like it was the solution to all his problems was almost laughable. His hand trembled as he took another swig, as if he were starring in a tragic play. He knew that bottle had no courage; it was just another excuse for him to forget his sorrows.
