Chapter 5

• My day wouldn't have turned so dramatic had I not argued with Sam on our way to town. I should have maintained the silence when he told me to slow down but the questions eating me for years now forced it way out of my mouth. Why did he avoid me all these years and suddenly cares now.
• I tried calling Sam to stop him from going through Ben's workshop but he ignored me so I played along like I used to. I started to get worried when I sighted James in front of the workshop and thank God Sam noticed as well because he slowed down and made me catch-up with him.
• "Well, well, see who we have here. To what do we owe this visit?". James said as we got to him but we didn't stop. I was so thankfull I wasn't with Daniel right now and with Sam. Sam is a cool headed one compare to Dan who at the slightest opportunity would have thrown James a punch. Sam tries to avoid trouble as much as possible, and that's why I was so surprised on his reaction when James said,
• " You know the two of you makes a beautiful couple. The cheap whore and the bastard"
• I felt his hand vibrated in anger on hearing those words and then he took off afterJames pursuing him towards the workshop. Trying to stop him, I ran after them calling out Sam's name but I think he forgot I was even there..
• I followed them into the workshop and noise coming from the sawing machine stopped and Ben guys came out to rescue James from angry Sam.
• I recognized two of them from the attack the other day and they looked shocked on seeing me. My fear disappeared surprisingly, bringing out some anger in me that I was sure was written over my face because they started to step back in fear. They tried to kill me but I survived, so they should know I'm a though one to kill.
• Ben came out of his office shortly after and he couldn't believe his eyes too. "It can't be, she's not real, she's not real..." He said Pointing at me. He suddenly held his chest in pain and slumped to the ground. James and one other guy rushed helplessly to him but there was nothing they could do as Ben lay lifelessly on the wooden floor. He definitely had an heart attached.
• Ben is in his late forties and though there is an history of heart problem in his family, I found it odd right now. I have never heard he had any health issue since I knows him. The fear in me that has once disappeared started to regenerate. What did they do to me that made Ben think it was impossible for me to be alive.
• I tried to step towards him but Sam held me back, pulling me behind him.
• I was thankful for his action because just at the same moment James stood up from besides his father and charged towards me, enraged with anger and shouting "What did you do to my father you witch?, What did you do..." He throws punchs at Sam but he waved it off sending James backward with a push on his shoulder.
• Ben guys gathered behind James to hold him back and calm him while he struggles towards me. They seems to have forgotten about the fallen man so I said at the top of my voice.
• "Someone should call for an ambulance"
• Immediately, one of the guys moved to a phone sitting by the end of the room to dial the emergency line.
• There was exchange of insult and accusative words until I heard a vehicle pulled up outside. I kept defending myself. " I didn't do anything"
• Two men in police uniform entered suddenly. The one in front was new because I'm seeing him for the first time. Looking at his medals he must be high ranked. He is tall with broad shoulders, sharp jawline and cleft chin. His jet black hair was ivy league style and definitely suits him.
• "What the hell happened here" He said in a deep and firm voice making everyone stopped and turned towards him. He looked around the room before his eyes falls on mine. He has a sexy but strict brown eyes. He's totally gorgeous. I started feeling uncomfortable when he won't stop looking at me. I tried not to fidget and maintained eyes contact.
• He fisted his hand and it seems at that moment he was going to punch someone as I can see his muscles flex. I begin to think the man has something against me. I definitely have never meet him before but the way he stare at me says otherwise.
• The starring context stopped when the second police man I know as Michael broke the silence by tapping him and calling him Captain.
• ' Captain, did he Just called him Captain?.' The Man is definitely young to be a Police Captain. He should be around his early 30's. The formal police Captain was closed to 60 years before he retired and moved out of town with his family. This is new.
• The Captain took a few strides towards Ben’s lifeless body and asked what happened to him. James answered without hesitation.
• “ The witch must have done something”
• “She didn’t even touch him” Sam defended me. I was once again gratefully that Sam was with me. I thought about Ben that moment. He can’t be possible dead.
• “Check his pulse” I said and the Captain held my gaze for a moment before crouching down beside Ben to check for his pulse.
• “He’s alive” He said in his deep voice after a while and everyone breath a sign of relief.
• I gave an instruction on how to administer CPR and Michael helped along with one of the guys as Sam wouldn’t allow me to get closer. Not long after that the ambulance arrived and Ben was surrounded with a team of health workers who lifted him onto a stretcher and carried away into the ambulance. All the while, the Captain man kept peeping at me mysteriously. I wonder what his problem was.
• We moved out of the workshop where I could see more vehicles arriving which includes the patrol car and the town's Mayor's, Mr. Peterson.
• I had meet Mr. Peterson sometimes ago in the ranch when he came visiting Fred Wallow. Fred had introduced us and I don’t like the man. He had eye fucked me openly and it disgust me. He even sent one of his men to give me his card so I could call him. I remember flushing it down the water closet. I understand Ben and his gang sometimes work for him so is not a surprise for him to show up here. I saw him shaking hand with the captain guy and discussing something. They must be meeting for the first time judging from their expressions. At that moment I begin to wander what toll the Capitain man going to take in my life. Is it for the sour or for the best.
