Chapter 9 The Feeling of Being Moved
- “Darling, don’t be afraid. From now on, I will protect you. I will make sure to send whoever hurts you to hell.” Lu Zhanting’s eyes filled with murderous intent.
- Maybe it was because Mu Xitong had heard Lu Zhanting’s promise to her, but she stopped talking in her sleep and started to sleep soundly.
- Lu Zhanting looked at Mu Xitong and carefully tiptoed out of the room.
- He chose the bedroom next to hers and slept, having good dreams all night.
- The dawn after rain had especially fresh air.
- The birds chirped and warm sunlight spilled into the bedroom. A light breeze shifted the bedroom’s curtains.
- The sunlight falling onto the small stature of the girl on a large bed felt slightly mysterious.
- On the bed, Mu Xitong opened her eyes sleepily.
- Once she saw that she was in an unfamiliar room in an unfamiliar place, Mu Xitong jolted awake.
- Mu Xitong sat up on the bed and thought about what happened yesterday night.
- Having been spiritually hurt, she had completely forgotten that she was in a foreign place.
- She buried her face into her knees and hugged them as she started sobbing quietly.
- Who could have thought that her father would marry her off to an old geezer for his company? The worst thing was, her boyfriend was stolen by her own sister.
- Mu Xitong felt as if she didn’t belong on this earth.
- After Mu Xitong finished crying, she slowly remembered that she was not in her own home.
- She looked around the room and lifted the blanket only to see that her clothes had been changed, and they were men’s clothing.
- “Argh!” Mu Xitong screamed.
- Lu Zhanting was having breakfast downstairs when he heard the scream. He immediately put down the coffee in his hand and ran toward the bedroom.
- Bang!
- Lu Zhanting slammed open the door and saw Mu Xitong hugging onto the blanket, crouched in a corner of the bed.
- When Mu Xitong saw that someone had entered, she wrapped herself in the blanket even tighter.
- “W-Who are you?” Mu Xitong asked, her voice trembling.
- “Did you forget? You saved me the day before yesterday, and yesterday night I repaid the favor and saved you,” Lu Zhanting said with a smile on his face.
- Mu Xitong tilted her head and pouted slightly, looking absolutely adorable.
- “Ah! So it was you. I didn’t forget. You were wearing the same mask as the one on the front desk.” Mu Xitong came to a realization.
- “It’s good that you remember.” Lu Zhanting laughed as he spoke.
- But what she said next caused Lu Zhanting to be at a loss for how to react.
- “Because of you, a good student like me was late on the next day. I even got scolded by the teacher,” Mu Xitong said, pouting.
- At this, Lu Zhanting’s mouth twitched.
- “Where are my clothes? I have to go to school in awhile.” Mu Xitong said, blinking her large eyes as she said so.
- “I have thrown your old clothes away and prepared new ones for you,” Lu Zhanting answered with a deep voice.
- As he spoke, a simple dress had magically appeared in his hand.
- “I’ll head out first. After you change, you can come down and have breakfast.”
- Mu Xitong looked at Lu Zhanting’s leaving figure and thought about how Shao Zhehao used to tell her to have breakfast every morning too.
- But now, she had nothing.
- Mu Xitong shook away her thoughts and went to the bathroom to change. When she went downstairs, she saw Lu Zhanting seated at the table gracefully having breakfast.
- Lu Zhanting wasn’t used to having a servant by him as he ate breakfast.
- “Please eat,” Lu Zhanting told her.
- Mu Xitong took a look at the breakfast on the table, which turned out to be all her favourite food.
- With that, this girl started eating without caring about her image.
- Lu Zhanting had actually told the chef to prepare these foods for breakfast after hearing what Mu Xitong liked to eat when she was sleep talking.
- When she finished eating, she raised her head and looked at Lu Zhanting.
- “Thank you for saving me yesterday night,” Mu Xitong said seriously.
- Lu Zhanting smiled at Mu Xitong’s words.
- “Then shouldn’t you repay me?” Lu Zhanting teased.
- “Nah, since I saved you and you saved me, we no longer owe each other anything anymore,” Mu Xitong said as she ate.
- “Is that so?” Lu Zhanting asked in a meaningful tone.
- “Of course,” Mu Xitong replied, unaware.
- Lu Zhanting did not say anything else and lowered his head to eat his congee.
- “I’m already done eating, so I’ll head off first,” Mu Xitong announced.
- “I will get someone to send you. It’s not very convenient to get a cab here,” Lu Zhanting said.
- “In that case, thank you.” Mu Xitong smiled.
- “Lu Yi!” Lu Zhanting shouted loudly.
- Hearing that, Lu Yi quickly walked in.
- “Boss,” Lu Yi addressed him respectfully.
- “Send Miss Mu back,” Lu Zhanting said.
- “Of course,” Lu Yi obeyed.
- Lu Zhanting watched Mu Xitong’s retreating figure and a playful smile painted his lips.
- Lu Yi drove away after sending Mu Xitong to school.
- Mu Xitong was holding onto her schoolbag and was about to enter the school’s compound only to be stopped by an angry and anxious voice.
- “Mu Xitong!” the worried and angry voice shouted.
- At the sound of her good friend Zhuo Anran’s voice, she immediately stopped in her tracks.
- “An Ran,” Mu Xitong said.
- “What happened to you yesterday? You turned off your phone,” Zhuo Anran asked anxiously.
- Mu Xitong looked at Zhuo Anran and smiled lightly.
- “Anran, you might not believe me, but my father wants to marry me off to an old geezer for his company, and the marriage is set for next month. It’s barely a week away,” Mu Xitong said bitterly.
- “What?! How could your father do such a thing?” Zhuo Anran was shocked.
- Zhuo Anran was very clear about one thing—no one knew exactly how much Mu Xitong had suffered.
- Her stepmother and stepsister treated Mu Xitong horribly and after not being able to bear it, she ended up moving out.
- But they didn’t stop—in fact, they became worse.
- Mu Xitong was only seventeen, but she had already been through a lot of pain. Despite all that, she was still cheerful and adorable.
- “Did you know? An even funnier thing happened. Shao Zhehao is dating Xiao Yufei and they’re about to get engaged. I only knew yesterday, too. They told me to go home yesterday because they wanted to discuss my marriage with me,” Mu Xitong said dejectedly.
- “Shao Zhehao is such a jerk! Did he not offer money to help save your father’s company?” Zhuo Anran asked angrily.
- “He did, but it was not enough. My dad already negotiated with that old geezer and if he went back on his word, he would have to pay a hundred million for breaking the agreement,”Mu Xitong lamented.
- Zhuo Anran looked at Mu Xitong. She knew this girl very well.
- She was energetic in front of people she liked, but she would not put on an act in front of those she did not like.
- “Those two cheap idiots! Shao Zhehao and Xiao Yufei… I will not let both of you live this down,” Zhuo Anran said with gritted teeth.
- “Anran, what are you going to do?” Mu Xitong asked.
- “Help you teach that jerk Shao Zhehao a lesson,” Zhuo Anran said.
- Zhuo Anran and Mu Xitong had different personalities. Zhuo Anran was a more straightforward and careless person.
- “There’s no need for that,” Mu Xitong said calmly.
- “I have to help you settle this, don’t stop me.” Zhuo Anran told her.
- As she spoke, she was already pulling Mu Xitong to go look for Shao Zhehao.
- Shao Zhehao was in his fourth year starting today, and Xiao Yufei was in the same year as he was.
