Chapter 7 The Ruby Bracelet

  • "That's utter nonsense!" Willa retorted, her voice dripping with fury.
  • "You behaved rather arrogantly when you cared for Madam Hoffman at the Middletons' residence. Now you have the nerve to come back and take what's ours?
  • "I'm telling you, Tyler, this is trespassing. You're stealing from the Prestons!"
  • Tyler finally understood. Willa was dredging up old grievances, and this wasn't going to end amicably.
  • As expected, she lunged at him.
  • "Stop talking and hand over what you took!"
  • Tyler was baffled.
  • "I've already left everything behind. What do you want me to hand over?"
  • "Tyler! Don't play dumb!" His brother-in-law, Charlie Preston, stormed in from the kitchen, brandishing a knife.
  • "Did my sister give you the bracelet? That belongs to our family!
  • "I'm ordering you now! Hand it over, or face the consequences."
  • Anger surged within Tyler.
  • Willa was clearly too attached to the bracelet and had enlisted Charlie to intimidate him.
  • He deflected the knife and glared coldly at Charlie.
  • "I'll say it again! The ruby bracelet is a family heirloom.
  • "I have every right to take it back, so stop trying to provoke me!"
  • Charlie's face contorted in rage.
  • He thrust the knife forward, its blade perilously close to Tyler's throat.
  • "Who do you think you're talking to? Hand over the bracelet, or I'll slit your throat!"
  • Seeing that reason was futile, Tyler swiftly knocked the knife aside and advanced, his body looming over Charlie.
  • His gaze was sharp and unwavering.
  • "Don't push me, or you'll regret it."
  • At that moment, Tyler resembled a predator cornering its prey.
  • The room suddenly filled with the pungent odor of urine as Charlie lost control and wet himself.
  • "Coward!" Tyler sneered.
  • As they stood in stunned silence, he quickly gathered his belongings.
  • But just as he was about to leave, Charlie blocked his path again, this time wielding two knives.
  • "Stop! Who said you could leave?"
  • Tyler's eyes narrowed in annoyance.
  • "Are you done yet?"
  • Charlie sneered with a menacing expression.
  • "You've eaten our food, worn our clothes, and used our possessions.
  • "Now that you're divorced from my sister, you still have the gall to pack up and take things with you?
  • "I'm ordering you! Put everything back!"
  • Bang!
  • Tyler threw his bag on the ground.
  • "Is this enough for you?"
  • Charlie looked at him silently.
  • "Enough?"
  • "Not even close."
  • Charlie's eyes scanned Tyler, and he suddenly fixated on his clothes.
  • "Your shirt, your pants, your shoes—the Prestons bought everything you're wearing.
  • "Take it off!
  • "All of it!
  • "Strip now!"
  • Boom!
  • A wave of fury surged through Tyler's mind.
  • "Charlie, you're really testing my patience!" Tyler growled.
  • But Willa, completely oblivious to the danger, whipped out her phone and began recording Tyler's face.
  • "Quit complaining. I told you to strip!
  • "I'll post your naked video online and make you the laughingstock of the entire world, haha ... "
  • Bang!
  • Tyler snatched the phone from her hand and smashed it into pieces.
  • "Tyler!"
  • Willa shrieked.
  • "How dare you break my phone? You've crossed the line now!"
  • "Charlie, get him! Kill him for me!"
  • Without hesitation, Charlie charged at Tyler, knife in hand.
  • Smack!
  • Clang!
  • With two swift strikes, Tyler disarmed Charlie, sending the knife clattering to the ground.
  • But in the chaos, Charlie managed to grab something from Tyler's pocket—the ruby bracelet.
  • "You lying b*stard! You said you didn't steal anything, but what's this?"
  • Willa wasted no time. She snatched the bracelet from Charlie, her eyes lighting up with greed.
  • "This is my daughter's ruby bracelet! It's worth at least two or three million dollars.
  • "You worthless thief! I'm sending you straight to the police for this!"
  • Smack!
  • Tyler seized her wrist in a vice-like grip.
  • "This bracelet is my family's heirloom. Hand it back!"
  • His voice was cold, each word dripping with menace.
  • "Ouch! Let go, you're hurting me ... " Willa yelped.
  • "You filthy dog, let go! Or I swear I'll make you regret it!
  • "Charlie, catch it!"
  • Willa quickly switched the bracelet to her other hand and tossed it toward Charlie.
  • Charlie reached out to grab it, but in his haste, he slipped.
  • Crack!
  • A sharp sound echoed through the room.
  • The ruby bracelet shattered into countless pieces as it hit the ground.
  • Charlie froze for a second, then broke into a mocking laugh.
  • "Serves you right! The bracelet's broken now.
  • "That thing was worth two or three million dollars. If you don't pay up for it, don't even think about walking out of here today!"
  • Tyler stood there, stunned.
  • His eyes burned red with rage, his hands shaking uncontrollably.
  • "You ...
  • "You've pushed me too far!"
  • In an instant, he snapped, like a beast unleashed.
  • Roaring, he charged straight at Charlie.
  • Bang!
  • A powerful uppercut sent Charlie flying.
  • Bang!
  • A second blow, a vicious downward strike, slammed Charlie into the floor.
  • "Argh!"
  • With just two hits, Charlie was left bleeding from his nose and mouth, blood splattering across the once pristine white floor, staining it a deep crimson.
