Chapter 4 The Nikolaou Family’s Threat
- Grace's expression changed when she saw the five individuals. She quickly grabbed Cyrus and headed back toward the elevator.
- "Hey, Miss Lindgren! What are you doing? Are you avoiding us intentionally?" The tattooed man at the front, speaking with a Northseanese accent, questioned Grace.
- Grace clenched her teeth, halted in her tracks, and said, "My father's debt has been completely settled. If you attempt to harass our family again, I will contact the authorities."
- "Contact the authorities? Haha! You are too innocent and adorable! Go to the police station and inquire if Bosco fears the cops!" The large man chuckled and reached out toward Grace's arm.
- Feeling impatient, Cyrus, who was initially planning to inquire about the situation, swiftly kicked the man away.
- The large man in the front was sent flying backward, causing the other four individuals to tumble over.
- With a series of loud thuds, all five of them hit the ground.
- "Leave! If you ever dare to return to this neighborhood, I will break your legs," Cyrus said calmly, his expression unwavering.
- Observing Cyrus' capabilities, the five Northseanic men didn't dare to make a move and fled down the stairs hastily.
- Grace was somewhat taken aback as she turned to look at Cyrus.
- "Cyrus, you've become quite formidable after spending five years in prison," she said in disbelief.
- Cyrus chose not to disclose anything about the Dragonia Special Forces as it was highly classified information.
- He simply smiled and replied, "It's survival of the fittest in prison. There's no other way."
- "Thank you." Grace rang the doorbell and then elaborated, "A year ago, my father borrowed 50 thousand but ended up repaying 60 thousand with interest."
- "We believed the matter was resolved, but unexpectedly, Bosco Lyons and his associates produced another IOU and demanded repayment when they noticed our flourishing business. These scoundrels are truly heartless."
- "Well... I'll assist you in resolving it," Cyrus remarked casually.
- To Cyrus, these were indeed minor issues.
- Furthermore, upon his return to the city, he intended to start by dealing with individuals like Bosco to consolidate resources.
- The door swung open, and Nephele Cooper hurriedly emerged. "Alas. My dear daughter, you're finally back. Those individuals from earlier really frightened me. Quickly call Magnus to address the loan shark matter."
- Grace held onto Cyrus' arm and said, "Mom, don't worry. Cyrus has assured me he will handle it. Besides, we have no ties to Magnus, so why involve him?"
- "What? Cyrus is out?!" Nephele stared at Cyrus in astonishment, and her expression darkened instantly.
- She furrowed her brows and muttered coldly, "He just can't let go, can he? He immediately shows up at our doorstep after being released from prison! Hmph! How shameless."
- "Mom! How can you say that!" Grace pushed Nephele aside. "It was Cyrus who drove away those five troublemakers just now! And, he has promised to handle the loan shark situation."
- Grace then pulled Cyrus into the house.
- With a loud bang from behind, Nephele shut the door and said coldly, "He's going to handle the loan sharks? What makes him think he can? He just returned and has gotten into a scuffle with Bosco's associates. How will we survive in the future? No wonder he ended up in prison. He caused trouble for our family as soon as he returned."
- Cyrus sat on the couch calmly and paid no attention to Nephele's complaints.
- Grace's father, Joe Lindgren, was quite courteous to Cyrus. He greeted Cyrus and promptly rolled up his sleeves to prepare food for Cyrus in the kitchen.
- Sitting across from Cyrus, Nephele addressed him, "Cyrus, you are now a released ex-convict, and my daughter is a talented student at Rodon University. Furthermore, she is pursued by many affluent suitors."
- "So what?" Cyrus responded calmly.
- Nephele scoffed. "Don't accuse me of being greedy. Go get 10 million from your father for the dowry, and your engagement from before still stands. If there's no ten million, you can forget about it; the previous engagement is off."
- "Mom!" Grace couldn't take it anymore. She slammed her hand on the table. "Mom, if you keep talking nonsense, I'll really get angry! Five years ago, you were the one who actively pursued Cyrus' mother and arranged the marriage. Now, you want to back out again. How can you be so indecisive? Furthermore, Cyrus and the Nikolaou family have had a falling out, and he doesn't have ten million! From now on, he will be living in our house."
- Upon hearing Grace's last statement, Nephele suddenly jumped up. "What? Fallen out? And he's going to live in our house? We only have three rooms in our house. Where is he going to stay?"
- "My sister lives in the dormitory, so I'll let Cyrus stay in her room for now. After a few days, I'll rent a house for him, and he can move out." Grace didn't give Nephele a chance to argue.
- Cyrus sat on the couch and watched as Grace took care of everything for him.
- The corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up with joy.
- With a wife like this, what more could a husband ask for?!
- At that moment, Nephele's phone rang.
- She picked up the phone and smiled respectfully. "Young Master Cyrus, what made you think of calling me?"
- Cyril was on the other end of the phone.
- He said coldly, "Madam Freya, your daughter is becoming more audacious! Not only did she reject the position I offered her, but she also caused a scene at my stepmother's birthday party with that rebellious Cyrus!"
- "What?" Her hand trembled in fear.
- He continued, "I am officially warning you. If your family dares to take in that troublemaker, Cyrus, I will ensure that your family has no standing in Rodon! Think about it carefully! Also, the engagement is immediately terminated!"
- With a click, the phone was hung up.
- Nephele's face turned pale with fear. She threw her phone onto the couch and rushed toward Cyrus as if she had gone mad.
- "You troublemaker! You bring bad luck wherever you go. Get out now! Get out quickly! Our family finally had some peace, but as soon as you got out of prison, you started causing trouble for us! Get out now!"
- Nephele grabbed Cyrus tightly and pushed him out of the door.
- Grace hurriedly followed, and her eyes were red with anger. "Mom! Have you lost your mind? Cyrus just got out of prison. Where else can he go? This is his home!"
- "Shut up! Young Master Cyrus just called. He said if we dare to shelter Cyrus, he will make us leave Rodon!" Nephele did not back down this time.
- Grace wanted to say something, but Cyrus stepped forward, shook his head, and smiled slightly at her. "Grace, you don't need to worry about me. I will find a place to stay. It's nice to see you again. I will protect you until the end of time."
- She was initially annoyed, but when she heard his unexpected confession, she blushed and quickly said, "Bah! What nonsense are you talking about? Why don't you stay at a nearby hotel for the night and I'll pay for it."
- Cyrus turned around, waved his hand, and strode into the elevator...
