Chapter 13 Submit Or Die

  • A total of five core members followed Cyrus back to Rodon after Dragonia Special Forces' disbandment.
  • In a matter of minutes, the six-man squad reconvened once more. Each of them possessed unique skills crucial to their operation.
  • Cyrus, the team's doctor, captain, and all-rounder, was the heart of the team.
  • Alex, with her beautiful appearance and tall figure, always clad in a leather combat suit, served as their sniper and deputy captain. She would mostly act as the commander. Thus, she was responsible for observation and dispatch. Alex's brain can measure time to the millisecond, making her a standard mechanical genius.
  • Jake excelled in deciphering various information. In addition to that, he was a skilled hacker. Although they hadn't had a reason to try it, there was a chance he could hack into the Pentagon if he really put his back into it. So, he was their designated electrical engineer.
  • Lincoln was skilled in solo combat and had a preference for ending his fights with his pistols, which he could wield at the same time. Of course, it did help that he could hit the bullseye from a hundred yards away.
  • Hex loved using poison to cultivate voodoo bugs. He preferred to be their assassin and had a penchant for creating poisonous gas bombs.
  • Ash was their sturdiest member. Even though his clothes seemed nothing out of the ordinary, those clothes were capable of withstanding 150 pounds of heavy artillery fire and continuous gunfire from a Gatling gun.
  • Cyrus regarded the five people with his hands behind his back and said, "This is our first battle in the city. Let's keep the kill count to a nice 0. We go in just to intimidate."
  • Then, he crossed his arms across his chest and continued, "I have studied the information Alex has provided on Bosco. He is brave and strategic but also cowardly and afraid of death. He may not look like it, but he's a wily one. So, we need to crush his spirit in a strong show of force and make him submit to us like a loyal and spineless dog in just one try."
  • "I aim to subdue this man and take over his industry that is just ripe for the taking." He inhaled deeply before curling his lips into a ferocious smile. "Of course, if he insists in fighting back, I will eliminate him myself. Any questions?"
  • When he received no response, he nodded solemnly and announced, "Move out!"
  • Cyrus sat in the driver's seat of the Ford while Alex naturally occupied the passenger seat.
  • Lincoln and the others sat in the back.
  • Due to Ash's size, he couldn't fit inside the pickup truck and had to sit on the roof, causing the hunk of very old metal to creak and groan under his weight in protest.
  • Nonetheless, its protest didn't stop Cyrus from stepping on the gas of the old relic and heading toward Bosco's villa.
  • The Ford emitted a puff of black smoke as it set out. It seemed as though the old chap was dissatisfied as the engine made a clattering sound with each mile it took. Nevertheless, it had to be noted that it was still very durable despite the car being cheap and ancient.
  • In the end, they finally arrived at a villa in the suburbs after 30 minutes.
  • Cyrus waved his hand, and the six of them immediately split up to scout the area.
  • Soon, Alex returned and reported in standard Arcturian, "Captain, there are a total of 92 people inside and outside the villa. All of them are armed with knives. 65 of them have guns on their persons. 85 people are hiding in various corners outside the villa."
  • Cyrus nodded and murmured into his earpiece, "Hex, Lincoln, eliminate the people outside the villa. Alex and I will enter the villa."
  • Bosco, with his neck adorned with a large gold chain, lounged on the couch inside the opulent villa. Each of his fingers was adorned with gaudy gold rings.
  • As a Northseanic man, Bosco had a deep affection for gold chains and mink coats.
  • He held a phone in his left hand and a copy of "The Prince" in his right hand.
  • Bosco laughed and said, "That woman who called me is quite bold! She said she would come to take my head at 7:30 p.m. Yet, it's already 7:29 p.m., and she's nowhere to be seen!"
  • "I suppose some woman has taken a liking to you, Bosco. She's probably just trying to get your attention!"
  • "He's got a point! Bosco is one of the top three big shots in Rodon. Which woman would dare to provoke him?"
  • "I think that phone call wasn't a provocation. It's more like flirting, deliberately piquing Bosco's curiosity."
  • Inside the villa, Bosco's inner circle followers laughed heartily.
  • Just then, the minute hand struck 12, making it precisely 7:30 p.m.
  • The anti-theft door of the villa flew open with a loud bang
  • Then, Cyrus and Alex strolled in casually.
  • Bosco leaped up in surprise. "H-How did you get in?"
  • "Bosco, right?" Cyrus took a step forward and said, "I'll give you a chance to surrender."
  • Raucous laughter filled the room as everyone mocked Cyrus' audacity, "This guy is so naive! God, he's just a child!"
  • "Trying to make Bosco surrender? With just you? Hahaha! Who do you think you are?"
  • "Still, that girl is quite impressive. Look at that leather jacket! She's even wearing leather pants. She's tall and curvy too. She's got the whole package! She's much better than those female models nowadays!"
  • Bosco furrowed his brow tightly, always cautious and fearful of death.
  • He could sense that something was amiss when Cyrus and Alex chose to announce their appearance so boldly.
  • Cyrus' brow didn't even twitch as he ignored small talk and headed straight for Bosco.
  • Bosco made a swift gesture and commanded, "Attack!"
  • The six skilled bodyguards surrounding him swiftly drew their guns and knives, aiming at Cyrus.
  • Swish!
  • Cyrus' movements became swift and ethereal in response to their retaliation.
  • All six bodyguards were swiftly incapacitated in a rapid succession of movements. The only thing that belayed their continued existence was the rise and fall of their chest as they lay unconscious on the ground.
  • Cyrus strolled forward calmly, utterly unfazed. His face was devoid of emotion until he stood beside Bosco and uttered, "Submit or die."
  • Bosco gulped nervously as his bravado crumbled into dust, took a step back, and stammered, "I-I surrender. I surrender."
  • Then, he abruptly turned and dashed toward the kitchen.
  • A hidden door in the kitchen wall was Bosco's true goal. When he saw that his defeat was imminent, he made a beeline for it.
  • Bosco was inherently cautious. Thus, he had always believed in the wisdom of discretion over valor. If he couldn't win, he had to flee by any means necessary!
  • Furthermore, he adhered to the adage, "Always have a backup plan."
  • Hence, all of his residences were equipped with secret escape routes.
  • Once he darted into the secret door, he moved to shut it behind him. Alas, he had only stopped for a moment to take a breather when he saw that Cyrus was right on his heels!
  • "Ah!" Bosco shrieked in terror, caught off guard by Cyrus' stealthy approach.
  • Cyrus gazed at Bosco impassively and said, "It appears you've chosen your fate."
  • Thud!
  • Bosco dropped to his knees before Cyrus. "I-I surrender. I am willing to pledge my allegiance to you, boss. I'll even serve you for life."
  • Cyrus nodded curtly and returned to the couch in the living room, hands clasped behind his back. "I understand you may not be fully convinced just yet. I'm okay with that. So, you have 10 minutes. Use any means, call anyone, and leverage any connections just to chase me out of here. As long as you can make me leave, you'll gain your freedom."
  • Bosco was momentarily stunned by Cyrus' proposal. Nevertheless, he wasted no time grabbing a walkie-talkie and shouting, "You fools! Arm yourselves and get in here! Move!"
  • All that greeted him was deathly silence.
  • Bosco's face was drained of color. He couldn't believe it. He had stationed over 80 people in various locations for an ambush!
  • Judging by this eerie silence, they had all been... taken care of?
  • Bosco's complexion turned ashen as beads of cold sweat formed on his forehead. He frantically dialed a number on his phone and spluttered, "N-Namir, please save me! There's a formidable individual in my villa right now!"
  • After he hung up, he breathed a sigh of relief.
  • He poured a glass of water for Cyrus and said cautiously, "Sir, if you can defeat Namir, then I, Bosco, will never harbor any ill intentions and will pledge my loyalty to you from now on. If Namir emerges victorious, please spare me any further trouble."
  • "Understood," Cyrus replied with a nod.
  • Alex stood behind Cyrus, her expression cold and beautiful. She genuinely resembled a clockwork doll as she watched his six.
  • Vroom!
  • The sound of a motorcycle engine revving outside caught their attention.
  • Shortly after, Namir strode in with a helmet in hand, exuding pride and disdain. He remarked disparagingly, "Bosco, you're truly losing your touch! Allowing someone to infiltrate our stronghold... Oh, isn't this the security guard who is also a doctor? Hahaha!"
  • Namir's gaze fell on Cyrus, and he erupted into scornful laughter.
