Chapter 8 Restaurant
- I already lost all my hope that I could survive this when the drunk man pushed me on the ground. Even though I tried to crawl away from him, I wasn’t able to escape when he pinned me down. My body was trembling, my heart was beating so fast. I still tried to beg for mercy but they seemed to be out of their minds.
- When he was about to lower his head to kiss me, someone took him away from me. He pulled the man up and then punched him in the face. I was terrified, I couldn’t see what was happening properly but I knew that the man was punching them. Until he defeated them all by himself.
- That’s when I realized who it was. It was Harold. He helped me get up from my feet while I still cry because of fear.
- “Are you OK? Why are you here anyway? God, Selina! You made me worry!” he exclaimed.
- And because he shouted at me, I quickly ran away from him. I even heard him call me but I didn’t look back. When I finally reached my car, I hopped in and drove my way to Barbara’s house. I have nowhere to go. I have nothing left, even my luggage and wallet, they took it all! How should I live without my important things?
- Right when I finally came to Barbara’s house, I hesitated. I didn’t know if her boyfriend was here… but I have to at least try. I pressed the doorbell and then waited for her to come out. About three times that I pressed it, the door opened and Barbara showed up.
- Her eyes scanned me from head to toe before she reacted. “Oh my God, what happened to you?”
- I remained silent while looking at her. “I’m sorry… Can I sleep here tonight?”
- “Of course! Come inside!”
- Barbara held my back and then helped me get inside of her house. She let me sit down on the couch.
- “I’ll go get some water,” she said.
- Not that long, she came back with the glass of water and put it down on the round table in front of me. I finished the water from the glass before I looked up at her.
- “Is your boyfriend here? I’m sorry if I disturb you.”
- “Oh my God, Selina! He’s not here, he’s out of the country for a business trip. You’re not disturbing me. What happened to you, really?”
- I took a deep breath before I told her everything that happened to me. It was all a disaster in just a day. I never thought that I could experience all of those things all at once in a day!
- “I’m sorry about what happened to you, Selina. I couldn’t even help you… while you always helped me out,” she said.
- “It’s OK…” I murmured.
- “And you didn’t even tell me that you married Harold! Darn, why did you marry him that instant? And just for your revenge!”
- “I don’t know, I regret it now…” I sighed.
- “You should! You need to file a divorce right away!”
- I nodded. The truth was, I don’t think I can still use him after all that happened earlier. I don’t think I can still live with him. He can’t trust me!
- “Did you already eat?”
- “It’s fine, I just have to get some sleep.”
- Thankfully, I was able to sleep properly in Barbara's house the whole night. I was so exhausted that I forgot all of my problems the moment I slept. But when the next morning came, I remembered my problems again.
- Barbara was waiting for me when I left the guest room.
- “Girl, I tried to call your number and Harold got all of your things. Let’s go there and get them all back here. You can stay here for a while. My boyfriend will be out of the country for two months.”
- “Thank you, Barbara!”
- “For now, you can use my clothes and let’s get out to eat breakfast.
- She let me choose a dress that can fit me. Thankfully, we had the same body frame so everything in her closet fits me.
- After I chose the yellow simple blouse, jeans and a pair of sneakers, we went out of her house to go to her preferred restaurant.
- “What do you want to eat?” Barbara asked.
- “What about pasta and garlic bread?”
- “I’ll get that too!”
- “To be honest, I want coffee,” I laughed.
- “Me too, let’s have coffee after this.”
- We were about to call the waiter when we heard someone.
- “Oh! What are you doing here?”
- We looked up and saw Lilian… and Emma! My eyes widened. Why do we have to encounter here out of all the places?!
- “E-emma?”
- “This is my favorite restaurant, you shouldn't be here!” Emma rolled her eyes.
- “Excuse me? Is this your restaurant?” Barbara stood up and raised her brow.
- “You’re here too, poor Barbara? You’re still friends with my b*tchy sister?”
- “Emma!”
- I stood up too to stop her from talking.
- “Just let us eat here. Is there something wrong if this is your favorite restaurant?” I asked.
- “Yes! I can’t eat when there's garbage like you! So you better go now!”
- “What the hell? You b*tch! You’re the garbage here! Don’t call my friend like that!” Barbara shouted.
- “Waiter! Please drag them out of here! They didn't have money to pay!” Emma shouted. “Waiter!”
- “Emma, please don’t do this…” I tried to stop her. But Barbara was mad too.
- “You b*tch! I can slap my money to your face!” Barbara shouted.
- The waiter came while looking at them. “What is wrong here Miss?” he asked, asking Emma.
- “Kick them out of here, they can't pay you, I promise!”
- “Y-yes, Ma’am—” But before he could talk, someone came.
- “What is happening here?!”
- The familiar voice made me turn my attention to them. Then I saw Harold with another man beside him.
- “S-sir?” The waiter asked.
- “I am Dorian Smith, please call the owner of this restaurant.”
- “Alright Sir!” The waiter quickly ran away.
- “Hey! I told you to ban these women here!” Emma insisted.
- “And why do you want to ban her here?” Harold asked with authority in his voice.
- “Who the hell are you to ask me?”
- Lilian whispered to Emma before her eyes widened.
- “Harold? Dorian?” she asked, shocked. “Harold Carlson, you’re the most famous surgeon in the country and Dorian, you are the President of Smith’s Place, right?”
- “Yes, that’s me. Now, tell me the reason why you want to kick them out of this restaurant.”
