Chapter 12 Preparing For Wedding

  • A few days later.
  • Stella and Mia got into the car that was waiting in front of the apartment. One of Mr. Marvin's bodyguards picked them up to take them to the company.
  • "Why do you think Mr. Marvin asked us to come?" Mia asked Stella, who was sitting next to her.
  • "Probably to talk about the wedding. What else could it be?" Stella replied in a casual tone. She turned her head to look out the window and saw that the streets were very crowded even though it was already working hours.
  • "Aren't you happy to be marrying Mr. Marvin?" asked Mia when she noticed Stella's indifferent expression.
  • Stella immediately turned to look at Mia. "I'm getting married to a man I've only known for less than two weeks. What's there to be happy about? I don't love him at all. I never even imagined that I would marry a man this way."
  • "Mr. Marvin is so perfect as a man. Aren't you attracted to him at all?"
  • "He's still stuck in his past. He agreed to marry me to take revenge for Lily's death. He said Lily was the woman he loved the most, and he would never fall for another woman again. He no longer cares about marriage or a life partner. If I fall in love with him, I would have to be jealous of a dead person. Seriously, Mia? How do I deal with that? It's going to be very difficult."
  • "You're right. Being jealous of a dead person would be very annoying."
  • "Well, then stop being weird," said Stella. She turned her head to look out the window, watching the increasingly crowded streets.
  • Not long after, the car carrying Stella and Mia finally stopped in front of Esther Company's. They quickly got out and were greeted by the security. Stella and Mia smiled politely, entered the building, then walked towards the elevator to go upstairs.

  • Stella and Mia were standing in front of Mr. Marvin's door. Stella knocked and heard a man's voice from inside.
  • "Come in."
  • Stella grabbed the door handle and pushed it open. They were immediately shocked when they saw who was in the room–Keenan Kalandra, their brother who had been in Japan.
  • "Keenan..." Stella and Mia walked quickly over to Keenan and hugged him.
  • Keenan returned the hug, wrapping his arms around his siblings, then shortly let go.
  • "Why didn't you tell me everything that happened?" Keenan asked.
  • "I told Keenan everything what happened," Marvin chimed in.
  • "Why?" Stella asked Marvin. "You should have asked me first."
  • "If I had asked you, would you have let me tell him? And if I had told you that I was going to bring your brother here, would you have allowed it? Of course not," Marvin replied. "You guys are so strange anyway. It's such a big deal, and your brother doesn't even know about it. What's the point of hiding it?"
  • "I was going to call you, but Stella always forbade me to," Mia added.
  • "Why?" Keenan asked Stella.
  • "Because I was afraid you'd get mad at me. Mia never cared and never said anything, always blames me. You will definitely be too. I'm scared and not ready for that."
  • "But it shouldn't have been like this, Stella. Mommy and Daddy died, and I, as their child, was not informed at all."
  • "I-I'm sorry, I admit I was wrong," Stella replied, looking down, not daring to look at her brother.
  • Keenan exhaled harshly.
  • "Getting angry is useless, everything has already happened," Marvin said, clasping his hands under his chest.
  • Keenan looked at Mia with a sardonic gaze.
  • "Why are you looking at me like that? I-I didn't do anything wrong. It's Daddy and Stella who are at fault! They put too much faith in that Damian bastard."
  • "Didn't do anything wrong, you say? Then the deal you made with that guy, wasn't that a mistake, huh?" Keenan asked in a high tone.
  • Mia swallowed hard.
  • "Mr. Marvin told me everything, including your deal with Damian. And you signed the contract right away? Geez, what were you thinking, Mia?" Keenan screeched, making Mia close her eyes.
  • "She's such an idiot. He's obviously a jerk, and she signed the deal," Stella said.
  • "That's all I did so I could be the enemy within," Mia said defensively.
  • "Alright. I brought you here not to scold your sisters, but to start a plan," Marvin intervened." Both of your sisters made deals. Stella made a deal with me, and Mia made a deal with Damian. I told you everything clearly earlier."
  • Stella rolled her eyes in annoyance upon hearing Marvin. He hadn't mentioned anything about bringing her brother and telling him everything.
  • "He should have told me first, right? Shouldn't I be his wife? Everything should have been discussed openly first instead of making a unilateral decision. Wait a minute! Why do I think that I'm really his wife? This marriage is just a deal," Stella thought.
  • "Okay, then what's your plan?" asked Keenan.
  • "Tomorrow, Stella and I are getting married," Marvin replied.
  • "What? Tomorrow? That soon?" Stella looked at Marvin with a shocked expression.
