Chapter 6 My Lady
- Danica
- It’s been a month since my trip to Rome and I still haven’t stopped thinking about Ignazio. I wondered why he hasn’t called me since then. If only I had his number as well, I would disregard my pride and give him a call. I don’t even know what to make of him, If he hadn’t asked me if it was okay for him to call me, I would’ve thought that he had forgotten he has my number.
- Now I’m leaving for school and the only thing on my mind is meeting with Kylie and exploring my new freedom. I will have to put my desire aside and focus on my new freedom. For the past five years that we’ve moved here, my parents never let me have a life of my own. They were always on my neck like, monitoring my movements like there’s a threat on my life or something, but now I am glad because I will be leaving for college now. I will have all the time for myself till vacation time when I will come home. They didn’t approve my choice of college and tried to make me change it to the one that’s close by but I was headstrong and didn’t listen. Now I will say goodbye to this community.
- I put the last of my luggage into the car and turned around to my mother who has tears welled up in her eyes.
- “Mom, I am a big girl now, you shouldn’t worry too much about me. I am going to be fine.” I reassured her as I wipe off her tears.
- “Danica.” My dad called.
- “Yes dad.” I went to him.
- “Have these.” He gave me a credit and two pairs of keys.
- “The card have some savings in it, I would also send money from time to time to it, the pin is your birthday. The key is for the house that I told you I would get for you friend. Please be good and avoid trouble okay.” Dad patted my head.
- “Thank you dad, I promise to make you proud.” I smiled at him.
- “That’s good, come and get going so you can get there earlier.” Dad pecked me on my head and I went to my mom and gave her a hug.
- I bid them goodbye and entered the cab and we drove off. I am missing my parents already but at the same time I am looking forward to the new life I will be starting.
- After all the transportation, I finally got to the location of the house. It was a quiet and lovely neighborhood, I looked at the passing buildings to see the one that fits into the picture of the house that my father gave me. I sighted it just few blocks away, it’s looks just perfect.
- “I am stopping in front of that brown painted house.” I beamed as I turned to the driver.
- The cab stopped in front of the house and I got out of the car with my luggages. I proceed towards the house as the cab drove off, I brought out the keys from my handbag.
- The house was neatly cleaned out before I got there, they welcoming smell drew me in and I step fully into the house. It’s has a small sitting area and a kitchen together, it was just divided by a counter. It has two bedrooms on the side and a toilet and bathroom at the corner far end. I entered into one of the bedrooms just as my phone rang, I brought it out of my bag to see Kylie’s name on display.
- “Hey.” I answered into the phone.
- “I’m already in the neighborhood, are you there yet cause I don’t have the keys and I don’t want to end up sleeping in the street.” She screamed into my ear.
- “Girl chill, I am there already. I will come and wait for you outside.” I stated as I went out of the house to wait for her.
- “Alright, see you soon.” I replied and ended the call.
- Few minutes later a cab stopped in front of the house and Kylie rushed out.
- She had the biggest smile on her face as she got out of the cab.
- “Oh my gosh.” She pulled me into a hug.
- “This house is so beautiful.” She gushed at the house.
- I nodded at her, smiling as well. I’m so happy I’ve got to life my life freely now and with my best friend at that.
- I missed my parents truly, but their possessiveness is just over the top, I can’t keep living like that.
- We both walked back to the car to carry the luggages the driver had carried out of the car. We went into the house and shut the door behind us.
- Kylie strode around the house, her eyes sparkling with appreciation. “I didn’t imagine this kind of house. It’s beautiful.”
- “Yeah, me too.” I breathed out.
- “I have taken the room on your left, it’s closer to the kitchen.”
- “Better then.” She smiled and i shook my head sideways.
- She’s never changed. As much as she love eating her greatest enemy is preparing one. The last time she tried it when we were still living in the same neighborhood, she nearly burnt the house.
- I won’t be taking that risk with her again.
- Kylie walked towards the next bedroom door, dragging her luggage with her. “I’ve gotten to unpack because there won’t be time after today. I can’t wait to resume school tomorrow. I heard they would be hosting a freshman party by the weekend. I am so looking forward to it.”
- I roomed my eyes and s I made my way to my room. I don’t know why she loves party so much, of all the things we could look forward to at school, the only thing on her mind is party.
- “In case I didn’t finish unpacking in time, call me when dinner is ready.” She yelled as she entered her room.
- “Yes my lady.” I tease and slammed my door, my scattered belongings staring at me.
- I hate having to arrange things.
