Chapter 19 Don't Understand
- "But, now that you have a girlfriend, I can't get too close to you anymore. That's how it's like in television dramas." The tears that Yan Anmo managed to contain, came pouring out again. Actually, at her age, she should have understood everything, but, Xi Zhiheng had protected her too well and did not allow her to be distracted by dirty and useless things, so she was a little less mature than those in her age group.
- "In that case, for Anmo's sake, I don't want a girlfriend anymore." Xi Zhiheng looked at Yan Anmo's innocent face. All he wanted to do was dote on her, coax her, and not think about anything else.
- "But, you guys have already...already done that..." Yan Anmo didn't know how to say it as her face turned red and she peeked at the man from behind her blanket.
- "You're still young. What do you know?" Xi Zhiheng tugged down on the blanket, exposing her delicate and supple face. "Forget what happened today. Your mind should not contain something that it shouldn't!"
- The more Xi Zhiheng told her this, the clearer the image in Yan Anmo's mind became. But, at least, she clearly heard the answer that she wanted. As long as Xi Zhiheng didn't abandon her, then she wouldn't feel any pain.
- "Young Master Xi, there's a video conference call from overseas, are you ready to take it?" Xi Zhiheng's assistant, Zhang, knocked on the door. Too afraid to enter, he remained outside.
- "Bring it in." Xi Zhiheng had rushed back from overseas because of Yan Anmo and left behind a whole heap of work.
- Zhang walked in and placed a computer on the coffee table. After he set everything up, he waited for Xi Zhiheng to connect the call.
- "Uncle Seven, go ahead. I'll sit here quietly and watch. I won't bother you," Yan Anmo felt a little guilty. She knew that Xi Zhiheng had been really tired because of her over the past two days, so she didn't want to delay him at a time like this.
- "Be good. Sleep for a bit."
- Yan Anmo nodded obediently. She then closed her eyes and rested peacefully.
- As long as Xi Zhiheng was by her side, then she was at peace. Even though there was thunder and lightning outside, she was not afraid at all.
- Her head felt heavy and she soon fell asleep.
- After an uncertain amount of time, she faintly heard the door close. She opened her eyes and discovered Xi Zhiheng had left.
- There was still a heavy rain outside and it suddenly made her scared, so she got out of bed to look for him.
- The hospital corridor was quiet. Apart from nurses, there weren't many other people. She looked around everywhere, but couldn't find Xi Zhiheng.
- Did her Uncle Seven...not want her...? But, he had just promised that he would never abandon her... Yan Anmo's eyes turned red and her heart thumped like it was going to explode at any minute.
- She dragged her heavy body around, unsure of where she was going. By the time she recovered her conscious thought, she discovered she had arrived at a VIP room in the orthopedics ward.
- She remembered Su Ci's room number. It was the room at the end of the corridor.
- Should she go...see him?
- Wearing a hospital robe, she stood in the middle of the corridor. After hesitating for a long time, she finally gathered her courage, stepped forward, and slowly approached Su Ci's room.
- "Ci, I've already finalized your school transfer papers. When you leave the hospital, recuperate a little and defer school for a year."
- The room door wasn't closed, so Yan Anmo held her breath and leaned against the wall beside the door.
- "Sigh, that girl's really implicated you badly and made you suffer for no reason," Mother Su's voice contained a sense of heart ache. Yan Anmo sensed it and it made her feel guilty.
- "That's enough!" Accompanied by the sound of a smashing ceramic bowl, Su Ci's voice was like a thorn that pierced through Yan Anmo's heart without her noticing; there was no trace of blood, but the pain was unbearable.
- Did he hate her so much...?
- Yan Anmo was finally discouraged. If Su Ci didn't want to hear her name and see her face, then she was not going to bother him again.
- She held back her tears and returned to her floor. That was when she discovered Xi Zhiheng looking for her.
- "Uncle Seven!" Yan Anmo ran over, hugged Xi Zhiheng, buried herself in his embrace, and cried.
- The first boy she admired, hated her. It really made her sad, but she didn't want to talk about it in front of Xi Zhiheng.
- "What's wrong?" Xi Zhiheng asked worriedly as he lifted her head.
- "I thought you left," Yan Anmo sobbed.
- "I wouldn't. I promised you that I wouldn't."
- Yan Anmo finally controlled her tears. That was right, he had promised her.
- Time flew by. In the blink of an eye, a long time passed.
- Yan Anmo left her past behind and focused seriously on studying. The university entrance exam was approaching.
- That day, it was Yan Anmo's 18th birthday.
