Chapter 9 Going After His Girl
- Natalie headed straight to the airport. On her way, Taylor bombarded her with calls and forced Natalie to send the picture of the divorce certificate to her.
- Natalie had no other choice and sent it over.
- Taylor received it right at that moment. After blurring out the important information on the divorce certificate, she opened the social media,
- “Three years of marriage without any intimacy is over! That dude is impotent! For anyone who has a crush on him, now’s your chance!” She typed it without hesitation.
- Taylor had dropped a bomb. It became a viral topic on social media.
- Meanwhile, Tristan had just ended an academic conference. He walked out of the conference tiredly.
- He had burned the midnight oil for a few nights in preparation for the conference.
- He leaned back into the car seat with his eyes closed, as he finally had some time to rest.
- He wanted to rest for a few minutes before heading back.
- At the same time, Irenale was at night, with the sky dotted with stars. The mountains and grasses seem to be at peace.
- “Beep beep…”
- The loud buzzing of the phone had woken Tristan, he was just about to fall asleep.
- He opened his eyes blurry and pulled out his phone.
- “Hello.” He answered the phone call after barely looking at the caller.
- He already knew who it was.
- An excited voice came through the phone before Tristan could say anything further, “
- The person on the phone exclaimed excitedly before Tristan could say another word, “Damn, you actually have a chance now!”
- The familiar words had completely woken Tristan up.
- He frowned and said, “Are you drunk?”
- Tristan sounded fatigued.
- “No way! I’m completely sober!”
- The person on the phone still sounded full of excitement, as if something great had just happened.
- It had affected Tristan’s mood, he chuckled and said, “Are you getting married?”
- Then, there was only silence on the other end.
- Tristan’s smile deepened and he said, “Just tell me. What has got you this excited?”
- “Well, I’m not interested in telling you after you asked that.”
- “As your buddy, I feel bad for you after seeing you alone for so many years! I’m messing with you, you've got a chance now! I’ll give you a hint.”
- “Right now! Go check Taylor’s social media! There’s news there waiting for you! You’ll surely like it!”
- “Do it right now!”
- Then, the call ended.
- Tristan felt excited, as he had been alone for three years. He had no idea what was going on, but somehow he had an answer after hearing George’s words.
- He couldn’t help but open the phone, even though he doubted Geroge’s words.
- Tristan grabbed his phone and opened WhatsApp. It took him several attempts to do it as his hand was trembling.
- Once he got inside, he was completely frozen. His heart pounded so quickly that he hesitated.
- He didn’t have the guts to check it out. What if I’m just being delusional? What if it’s not as I thought?
- Tristan forced himself to calm down while holding his phone tightly. He scrolled through the screen and found Taylor’s profile after he had finally calmed down.
- Taylor’s profile picture was of her kissing a cat.
- It didn’t take long for him to find Taylor’s profile, as he was a common visitor for her updates.
- Tristan hesitated while staring at her profile picture.
- He took a deep breath and clicked into it.
- At that moment, he froze completely. Everything around him fell silent.
- The divorce certificate was enlarged and on the main page. Tristan was stunned as he saw the name on the divorce certificate.
- The name was Natalie.
- He had a tremor after tightening his hand and pulled himself together after his blank stare.
- He stared at the name and the divorce certificate repeatedly.
- Gradually, he smiled.
- It was the happiest he had ever felt in thirty years.
- After a long, joyful smile, he looked at the caption below the post.
- Natalie, I won’t miss my chance anymore!
- He dialed a number and said, “Grace, please settle on my work. I’m going back to the country.”
- “Now? How long will it be?”
- “There isn’t a time limit.”
- “You…”
- “I’m going after my girl.”
