Chapter 57 The Fires Burn
- I silently cursed him. "Trash," I thought to myself. He was checking to see if it was safe. It was obvious that everyone would be asleep at this hour. In the past, when I was weaker and slept most of the day, he would go to Tania's room if he came home late without considering what everyone else was doing. This was a test for Melanie.
- "Everyone is asleep. Tania is down with a cold, and the madam is exhausted from putting Felix to sleep, so she has gone to bed. She told me to wait for you," Melanie said softly. Her voice was sweet and overly affectionate.
- She went to the shoe rack and took a pair of slippers, then bent over and placed them in front of Kevin's feet. Kevin stared at her intently, his eyes filled with greed. He had a gentlemanly act, but I could see the desire burning in his eyes.
