• Song Ran walked Shao Yunchen out of Song’s residence herself. The two were left strolling together on the street after Lin Shui made his way out first to fetch the car. Although the night was still young, the neighbourhood of Song’s residence was quiet as it was situated in the suburbs. Only several cars came and went and not many pedestrians could be seen walking on the streets.
• When they reached the first junction, Song Ran was the first to stop walking. She stood still under a lamp post and looked up to meet Shao Yunchen’s gaze. “I’ll see you off here then,” she said.
• “Okay.” Shao Yunchen too stopped walking; he seemed to have deliberately taken two more steps to maintain a distance between them. Such a distance was comfortable to both of them.
