Chapter 15 It’s Been a While
- Lu Yao was taken aback.
- When she asked further, she found out that when Xiang Dongnan was out on a business trip, Tiantian was traumatized when she saw her mother bringing unfamiliar men home. From then onward, she refused to talk, and that was why Xiang Dongnan was adamant on getting child’s custody.
- Lu Yao felt heartbroken when she knew the reason for Tiantian’s autism.
- It just so happened that she wasn’t busy recently, so she took Tiantian to her company after telling Xiang Dongnan about it. She kept Tiantian there for the day, teaching her new words when she had time, only sending her back to Xiang Dongnan at night.
- Tiantian was timid to start with, but she became braver after Lu Yao’s constant praise. She had a great smile, and her handwriting was beautiful. She even knew how to write ‘Daddy,’ moving Xiang Dongnan to the point where words failed him when he saw the paper.
- After Lu Yao took Tiantian to the company this day, she remembered—thanks to her colleague’s reminder—she had to travel to Jincheng City today for the contract talks.
- But Xiang Dongnan had gone to the airport half an hour ago to embark on a business trip. Lu Yao didn’t know when he would come back, nor did she want to trouble her colleague with Tiantian, so she brought the girl with her.
- It only took an hour and a half to fly from Nancheng County to Jincheng City
- There, Longteng Group sent someone to pick Lu Yao up before driving her to the company.
- “Miss Lu, President Shao’s flight was delayed. We’re not sure when he will arrive. If he still isn’t here by afternoon, we might have to ask you to spend the night at a hotel.”
- “It’s fine.” Lu Yao smiled.
- As the leader of the investing world, their building was built in the city center where land was gold. Beneath the shadow of the towering Hetai Building, every structure around it lost their shine and color.
- The one who guided Lu Yao had to take a call halfway through, leaving her to the receptionist because he had to go attend something important.
- Lu Yao went into the elevator with Tiantian.
- There were a lot of people going around in the lobby. All of a sudden, she thought she saw Shao Yunchen in a black suit, radiating a strict air, but he had a warm gaze.
- The sunlight that shone on the platinum ring he was wearing reflected a blinding light before he disappeared from Lu Yao’s sight after the elevator’s door was closed. Lu Yao stood rooted in her spot, feeling as if her blood was frozen.
- When she picked a ring for their marriage, Shao Yunchen refused it by saying he disliked rings. In the end, she was left with no choice but to have him buy a diamond ring for her, which she still treasured even until now.
- But now, Lu Yao thought the ring she was wearing was scalding her skin, almost burning her. “Excuse me, if your president called Shao Yunchen?” she asked gently.
- “Don’t you know that?” The receptionist was surprised. “I thought you looked up our company before you came.”
- Lu Yao looked at her reflection in the elevator’s door quietly. Her husband was managing an investment firm that was the industry’s head, making him a billionaire, but she was in the dark about that. Over all these years, she only knew his name and where he lived.
- The receptionist took Lu Yao to the president’s office. “President Shao isn’t back yet, but Assistant Fu is here. You can talk with her,” she told Lu Yao.
- After the receptionist opened the president’s office’s door, Lu Yao went inside, her heels clopping against the floor. There was a beautiful woman beside the desk who was putting on a ring, her smile looking bright and dazzling.
- That ring she had seemed to be the same model Shao Yunchen had.
- The receptionist didn’t expect Fu Xuezi to already be in the president’s office. “Assistant Fu.” She hurriedly bowed. “So you’re already here, Assistant Fu. This here is Miss Lu from Yingxin Company.”
- “I’ve seen her before.” Fu Xuezi wasn’t surprised when she saw Lu Yao. “It’s been a while, Miss Lu.” She got up before walking up to Lu Yao.
- Lu Yao shook her hand calmly. “Did Shao Yunchen give this to you?” She smiled. “It’s pretty, and it fits you nicely, Miss Fu.”
