Chapter 7
- Mia's p.o.v
- I was laying on the cold ground, whimpering softly. The cold breeze was killing me, I was also famished and thirsty. For the past few days, I was locked up in one of the punishment rooms. Strangely, I was allowed to eat a slice of bread and drink some water. I was even allowed to go to the restroom only once a day.
- I was aware that most pack members were talking about it and questioning Margret because it was unheard of. The punishment room was meant for torture, no food or water was allowed in there. I, too, felt confused about what was happening.
- After that day, I looked at the twins disrespectfully. I ran out and went to my room, soon after Margret came into my room looking so scary. She grabbed me by the hair and dragged me to the punishment room.
- I let her slap me and yell on top of her voice because I was at fault. Moreover, nothing good came out of fighting her or any high up.
- I licked my lower lip and moved to the corner while rubbing my hands together, trying to warm myself in any way. I was cold to the point of freezing.
- When I heard footsteps approaching the room, I quickly sat upright. I heard the sound of a set of keys, then the lock being unlocked. The door was opened wide and Margret stood there looking at me with disgust.
- “Get up, you ungrateful brat!” She spat.
- I slowly stood up and leaned against the wall weakly.
- “You are really lucky that today is the choosing of our future Luna.” She said as I frowned.
- "The choosing of our Luna?” I asked with a husky voice, then gasped when it clicked that it was the day of the choosing.
- It was not only my birthday but the day of selecting our pack Luna too.
- “Stop wasting my time and move from there stupid girl!” She yelled.
- I forced myself to move and walk past her.
- “You have to go into your room, bathe, and dress up nicely. As it is, your friends have already gone to the pack house, you are the only one left.” She said with a smile, then turned and walked away.
- I touched my head that was slightly aching, then moved to the stairs. I went up and walked to my room with wobbly legs.
- I opened the door and smiled when I found Meg's dress on my small bed.
- I moved closer and grabbed the dress, looking at it carefully. I had no nice clothes, most of my clothes were torn and faded. Whenever we were ordered to dress up nicely, Meg took it upon herself to help me with any of her pleasant dresses.
- She sure was an angel, because of her my bad days in the pack felt lighter.
- The dress was beautiful with small black pearls at the end of the collar. What I hated was its color pink, it was too bright for my taste.
- I dropped the dress on the ground and sat on the bed. I was very exhausted and sleepy, for days I couldn't get a decent sleep, and looking at the bed now it was hard to ignore the blankets.
- I lay down and decided to rest for just a few seconds.
- “Ninth huh.” I whispered to myself, then laughed Softly.
- I was scared, today was the day I was going to feel my wolf and know who my mate was. I didn't want to admit it, but I had a gut feeling that something was going to go wrong. Since I was born at 11 pm, I was supposed to wait for that same time to strike.
- Many explained how beautiful it was to feel and talk to their wolf, while others said it felt normal. Some found their mates on the same day and wasted no time in mating. While for some it took weeks, at times months or a few years to meet their mate. On rare occasions a few had no luck at all, they ended up not finding their mates or being rejected.
- I was terrified and tried to ignore the slight ache that was slowly forming in my chest.
- “It's done, all omegas are prepared.” A male voice said, startling me.
- I quickly stood up and rushed into the bathroom. I wasted no time in bathing and later dressing up. Likewise, I came out of the room and went downstairs while combing my hair with my fingers.
- I had no time to look at myself or check if what I was wearing looked good.
- I came out and quickly walked to the pack house. I bit my lower lip when I went in and rushed to the living hall. Immediately I walked in, I cursed at myself silently.
- All eyes were on me, the omegas were lined up, looking stunning in nice clothes. I nervously lowered my eyes in fear, then moved to join the line and stood at the far end.
- My heart was beating loudly. I was feeling nauseous as I tried to keep myself calm.
- “You are dead, they all couldn't start because they noticed one omega was missing.” Meg mind linked me.
- I was about to mind link her back when a loud growl scared me more than I already was. A few whimpers came from the omegas next to me.
- “You are late, and your friend has the guts to fill you in?” Chris asked in a loud growl.
- I bit my lip harder and tried so hard not to cry. How could Meg use the pack's mind link freely? Everyone in the room had heard her clearly and were looking at me furiously. I could feel their murdering gaze.
- “I'm sorry,” I whispered, then gasped loudly when I realized that I had just spoken to a high up like we were on the same level.
- I flinched when a strong, dominant aura filled the room. The whimpers in the room began to get loud.
- When I heard light footsteps moving towards me. I clenched my hands, trying my best to stand still when all I could think of was running away.
- Two sets of feet stood in front of me. I dared not to look up because I knew who it was, their aura was making me cower and causing my nauseous to worsen.
- “Well then, it seems we have taken an interest in this omega here.” One of the twin alpha said lazily as loud murmurs erupted in the room.
- I slowly looked up with the little courage I was left and gazed at the twins to make sure that they were not looking at me.
- When my eyes met theirs, I felt the air in my lungs being sucked out.
- “We want her.” They loudly said together with dominance.
- My vision became blurry and my body began to tremble on its own. There was just no way my hearing was right.
- Before I could move, my knees gave out. I was about to fall when I was held by strong hands on each of my sides.
- My eyes were slowly getting heavy, I was supposed to stand strong. Sadly, I couldn't win against the darkness that was consuming me.
