Chapter 11 Small Attention
- Serena P. O. V
- “I'm going to the food court downstairs with Harry. Do you want to come?” Sarah asked from across the table.
- I nodded quickly as I shut down the computer. I quickly grabbed my wallet from my bag and followed Sarah.
- My steps stopped when I saw Mr. Raymond and Leopold walking together into the CEO-only elevator. Too much pheromone.
- “If there are two of them, why does the air conditioner feel like it's not working? Too hot.” I fanned my hands in front of my face.
- Sarah giggled softly. “There's some truth to what you're saying. No wonder I get so hot in here.”
- “I don't count as one of those hot guys.” Harry pointed at himself with a big smile.
- Sarah and I looked at each other before we burst out laughing. Physically, Harry was fit and tall. He has a sweet face that can make him ogle at girls. Plus, Harry is typical boyfriend material who will focus his attention on the girl he likes.
- How could I know?
- Harry and I often exchanged messages, and we even hung out together a few times to breathe at night air. During that time, he was very attentive, and he told me a lot about his ex-girlfriends. As far as I could tell from his story, Harry never broke up with anyone first. Instead, he was a victim of infidelity. That's why we can connect, because we both have tragic love stories.
- “You're immature as a man,” I retorted, and I got a sharp glance from Harry.
- “Why do young women nowadays like men who are much more mature, huh?” Harry nudged Sarah's arm, who smiled embarrassed.
- I noticed the interaction. Previously, I had found Sarah talking alone with Mr. Raymond. Somehow, I sensed a chemistry between the two of them. And Sarah blushed every time she looked at Mr. Raymond. I suspected that they were in a special relationship.
- “So, what do I need to know about our two bosses other than their inhuman good looks?” I asked after we arrived at the WeWork Tower food court.
- “What do you want to know about them? Sarah knows a lot about them,” said Harry, which again made Sarah blush.
- “Mr. Leopold is creepy.” I forced a smile as I remembered Leopold, who always showed an angry face when we met.
- Sarah burst into laughter with Harry, and they patted each other on the shoulder. “He's fun. Mr. Raymond is much more disciplined and scary when we make mistakes. He used to be a director at my old workplace before he teamed up with Mr. Leopold to build Pequira. But the important point is that he's a bulwark that will protect his employees if we get into trouble at work.”
- I raised one eyebrow. From the way Sarah was talking, it convinced me that her relationship with Mr. Raymond was more than just professional.
- “Have you ever worked with Mr. Leopold?” I asked them both. I walked ahead of them and took a seat by the window. And Harry took the seat next to me.
- Sarah sat in front of me after putting her lunch tray away. “Mr. Leopold is a good friend of Mr. Raymond. I'm not very knowledgeable about the actual work because Mr. Raymond is the one who receives my work reports. But so far, Mr. Leopold is fine. He likes to joke around with other employees and has a pleasant demeanor.”
- Sarah's explanation was inversely proportional to how I felt. It made me even more certain that Leopold's haughty demeanor was just an act.
- “Last month's team dinner, we ate and karaoke at a Chinese restaurant. Mr. Leopold lost the challenge, so he got the punishment for singing. I still have the recording of him singing a heartbreak song.” Sarah scrolled through the phone screen, laughing. It wasn't long before she thrust the phone in front of me.
- In the footage, I saw Leopold in casual clothes, singing in front of his employees. I couldn't help but laugh when he picked up a water bottle and used it as a fake microphone. But what caught my attention was that his voice was good when singing “Before You Go” by Lewis Capaldi's. His expressions seemed to be so immersed in the lyrics that I felt as if I could feel his feelings.
- After the videotaping was over, I asked Sarah. “Isn't he angry that you taped him like that?”
- Sarah took back her phone with a big smile. “He's just laughing. He's very chill.”
- My brain struggled to digest all of Sarah's stories. Sarah's version of Leopold is very different from Monaco's or the one I found in California. I wondered, What was he really like?
- “Anyway, we haven't decided where to have our team dinner this month.” Harry opened his voice after we finished lunch. “I heard there will be an outing, too. Serena, do you know where we're going this time?”
- Leopold had told me about the team outing. He asked me to make some proposals for activities.
- “Do you have any idea where we're going?” I asked Harry for his opinion. Who knows, he might have a good idea.
- “I want to go to Monaco,” Sarah said without thinking. “I miss wearing a bikini and soaking up the sun.”
- Harry chuckled rudely. “Does California still lack sunshine?”
- “California has a pollution bonus,” said Sarah.
- “Standard Monaco for our CEOs who frequent there. But it never gets old for employees like us.” I responded to Sarah's comment.
- Sarah nodded. “Anywhere is fine with me, as long as it's a good place.”
- “I'll look at the budget first, but if you have an idea where to go, please let me know. Mr. Leopold said, This is for team building, so the important thing is that we all like the place.” I added, so that they wouldn't feel disappointed with my choice later.
- “Mount Everest, please. It's been a long time since I've climbed a mountain,” Harry suggested.
- Sarah frowned. “My city girl soul will complain if I'm told to climb a mountain.”
- “Me too,” I agreed with Sarah.
- Harry looked at both of us with concern. “I feel sorry for you two. We're still young; we should be exploring nature more.”
- I laughed as I looked at Sarah and Harry, who were now arguing. They gave me a fresh experience. In my old office, the relationships between employees were solely based on seeking approval from higher-ups to get promoted.

- I sighed softly as I reached the office lobby. I had worked so late today on the proposal that I didn't realize it was already eight o'clock in the evening.
- “Serena, How come you're still here?”
- As I turned my head, it surprised me to see Leopold walking towards me.
- My pussy throbbed at the sight of his handsome figure. Even though it was late at night, Leopold was still neat and even had his hair in order. There was no tired look on his face. Instead, he looked fresh, like someone who had just come out of the playground. Very different from me, who was definitely messy and dull-faced after a long day in front of the computer.
- “I was working on a proposal, so I came home late.” I held back my bright smile so as not to look obviously happy to see him appear.
- His gaze studied me from top to bottom, making me uncomfortable. It surprised me when he handed me his suit. Even though I didn't know what it meant, I accepted it.
- “What does that mean?” I asked, pointing to his suit in my hand.
- He pointed at my thighs. “To cover your thighs.”
- I looked down in shame, staring at the tennis skirt I was wearing. There was no dress code in the office, so I wore whatever I liked. Leopold's actions again surprised me. He seized the suit in my hand and put it on me. My breathing seemed to stop when we were so close, and I even felt his breath.
- Leopold buttoned up his suit without taking his eyes off me. My hands clenched tightly as the scent of his expensive perfume almost made me act recklessly. Had we not been in a professional relationship and not in the office area, I probably would have jumped into his arms.
- “You're free to wear any style of clothing, but make sure it doesn't attract men.” he said in a heavy tone that sounded displeasing to my ears.
- After saying those words, Leopold left me alone in the lobby. I realized after a while that I was standing like a woman who had lost her mind.
- “What the hell? What did he just say?” I looked down at my body, which was now wearing his brown suit. My fingers stroked the surface of the soft fabric. A big smile rose on my face because Leopold secretly cared for me.
- Can I feel special because a man who pays attention to the modesty of a woman's clothing is the mark of a good person?
- “Mr. Leopold, wait for me. Let's go home together!” I ran after him to the company parking lot. I had to hurry and get to him because I had already missed his big, burly cock.
