Chapter 4

  • "Do you need help with something?" Maskyn asks, looking directly into her eyes, but she quickly looks away.
  • "No, sir!"
  • "Why would I need it?"
  • "It's obvious that you're so embarrassed because I make you nervous, right?"
  • "You have quite the imagination, sir."
  • "No! It's just that I say what I have to say, and right now, I order you to look at me."
  • "Sir, you're confusing things. You can have Dulce for a moment or I can take her with me, finish my work, and bring her back. You'll tell me." Johana speaks seriously.
  • Maskyn smiles maliciously.
  • "After all, the little nun defies me."
  • "Wow, you really enjoy making people feel bad."
  • "After all, you're my employee!"
  • "You're mistaken. I work for Mr. Charles and Mrs. Emma."
  • "It's the same Villareal family, Johana, so be careful how you speak to me."
  • Maskyn approaches her with firm steps, making her even more nervous, and her heart is about to burst.
  • "Do you want to tell me something, Johana?" he whispers in her ear.
  • Johana takes a deep breath and tries to remain calm.
  • "Yes! I wanted to ask if you can have the girl or not," she says with complete seriousness.
  • "Perhaps I can take the problem off your hands, you know!"
  • "I don't understand what you're talking about, sir!"
  • "Come on, I can tell from a mile away that you're a virgin."
  • "Oh, really!"
  • "I could do you a favor so that you're not one anymore."
  • "A favor? Do you think I'm in need?"
  • "If that weren't the case, then why are you in such a hurry to leave... ah, I see, because you can't control yourself when I'm near you. You think I haven't noticed how nervous you get."
  • "You're very mistaken, Mr. Maskyn. Besides, I don't need you or anyone else to do me any favors, as you put it."
  • "I'm not interested, and I don't care. And since it seems you won't have the girl, I'll take her."
  • "What's going on here?" Hailey asks, noticing Maskyn's proximity to Johana.
  • "Nothing, Mother. I'm just going to carry Dulce. Johana asked me for the favor," Maksyn replies.
  • "Is that true, Johana? If my son is bothering you, you can tell me," Hailey says, looking at Maskyn.
  • "No! The sir is right. He's just going to do me the 'favor' of having the girl."
  • Johana hands Dulce María to Maskyn, and he can feel Johana's cold hands.
  • Maskyn laughs maliciously, and Johana leaves.
  • "How's the little princess, uncle?" Maskyn says, and Dulce puts her little hand on his face.
  • "Maskyn, be careful, and if I find out you want to hurt Johana..."
  • "Nothing like that, Mom. I like experienced women. You'll see, Mother, what happened to Dad in the end!"
  • "We've already talked, but Maskyn, don't go looking for trouble. You should do things right once and for all."
  • "Look, Mother, I'll tell you because I love you and you know how important you are to me, and also because I hate when my fucking life gets messed up. And I say it with respect."
  • "I live my life, Mom. I'm not here to be lectured. I have my savings, I have my things. Why? Because I have them myself, with my own effort, unlike my siblings."
  • "But what do you do, Maskyn?"
  • "Mom, many things. And forget about it. I want to spend some time with Dulce because I have to go out."
  • "Oh, Maskyn, woe betide you if you're doing something bad."
  • "Mom, I know what bothers you and Dad is that you can't know what I do with my life. You think I haven't noticed that you send escorts to follow me or someone is investigating my life."
  • Hailey remains silent.
  • "Don't waste time and money on that, Mom. The truth is, I'm very independent with my life, and that's what bothers you."
  • "No, son! You know that we are a well-known family and your father is harassed by many people because your brother has his own company and Channel as well, but no one knows anything about you.”
  • “That's why, Mom, it's better this way! Because silence implies consent, and those who make less noise grow more.”
  • “So I have no choice but to blindly believe in you?”
  • “Yes, Mother.”
  • “You are a bad son, be careful not to leave children everywhere. Maskyn, because I will marry you with the first one who comes along, and you know I will.”
  • “Come on! That's why I take precautions, I don't think the first one who comes will immediately win your trust.”
  • “I can't talk to you, you always have something to say in response.”
  • “I love you, Mom.”
  • “I love you too, you empty-headed. I'll go bring Dulce María some apple compote, I made it for her, she loves it.”
  • “Of course, that's why she's chubby.”
  • “You're so mean. I can see you falling in love with your other nieces and nephews, whether they are boys or girls, I can see it.”
  • “I'll be right back...”
  • Hailey left and Maskyn sat on the couch.
  • Johana appears...
  • "Sir, can you hand me the baby now?"
  • "Have you calmed down your desire for me?"
  • "You are very arrogant, sir. Please hand me the baby."
  • "Don't worry, Johana, take a break. I'll call you. I'll spend some time with Dulce before going to work."
  • "As you wish, sir. Permission granted..."
  • Hailey arrives.
  • "Mother, let me feed Dulce María."
  • "No, son, you'll spoil her."
  • "Don't complain, Mom, let me..."
  • "You are hopeless," says Hailey, and she hands the compote to Maskyn, who ends up getting it all over Dulce's clothes. Everything had turned into a mess.
  • Hailey shakes her head at the disaster that Maskyn has become while trying to feed Dulce.
  • "I'll take her to bathe."
  • "I'll do it, Mother."
  • "What's wrong with you? Don't you like doing it?" Hailey asks, full of questions.
