Chapter 57

  • I could hear the birds chirping. A glorious morning it was. The sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a warm, golden hue across the room. But despite the beauty of the morning, a heavy weight settled in my chest. The events of the previous night replayed in my mind, tainting the brightness of the new day with a lingering sense of regret.
  • Leo lay beside me, his arm draped over my waist, his breath warm against my neck. His presence, usually comforting, now only served as a reminder of the chaos we had unleashed. I stared up at the ceiling, my mind swirling with thoughts, each one darker than the last.
  • The stigma of what we had done was already settling over me like a suffocating blanket. The whispers that had followed us after that kiss were nothing compared to what would come now.
