Chapter 1 My Moon

  • “STAR MAGAZINE INCORPORATED”
  • I am now standing in front of the company I always dreamt of joining. This 40-story building is owned by the one and only, Mr. Harry Moon, a very famous multi-billionaire in this generation. He was known for his intelligence and ruthlessness in the business industry. And because of his good looks, he has become the most eligible bachelor available today.
  • At the age of twenty-eight, he already owns his own company. And that is the Star Magazine Incorporated. It is now one of his famous businesses. SMI is a leading magazine publisher that showcases Men’s magazines and promotes undergarments, lingerie, and swimsuits.
  • By the way, before anything else, I am Ashtrella Rodriguez, but they called me Ashley. A twenty-three-year-old stunner, all the way from the land where beautiful and talented people were born, and the city where the most beautiful girl was born, Manila! That is me. Don’t look for anyone. I also graduated with flying colors with a degree in Mass Communication.
  • I came here to SMI for an interview as Editor-in-Chief. You read it correctly... Editor-in-Chief. I was an accelerated student before that’s why I graduated college at a young age, and I already have a ton of experience under my belt. I've been working as an Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief in my previous company, but I wanted to get this job because it's been my dream.
  • He is my dream.
  • Ever since high school, I have dreamt of being with him, and now I am closer to my goal. I will make sure that this time… He will fall in love with me.
  • Oh… my Harry Moon, you are mine and mine alone. I grinned evilly while his image was on my mind, not noticing that there was someone looking at me quizzically.
  • “Uhm... Miss... Hello?!” I got brought back to reality when the guard in front of me interrupted my thoughts while trying to call my attention… Not only that, he even raised his voice, which I think I will lose my eardrums together with my sanity at this very moment.
  • “Won’t you minimize your voice a little? My eardrums almost broke. I'm not deaf, you know?” I scratched my ears because the level of tone he used on me was too loud.
  • “I'm sorry. But I've been talking to you since you arrived, and yet, you did not pay any attention." The guard fixed his uniform before he turned his gaze back to me.
  • "As I was saying, I was asking, why are you here? What is your purpose in being here today? But you did not even bother answering my question... And yet, you were daydreaming. I even caught you laughing at yourself like crazy..." He asked with his eyes narrowed at me like he was having deep thoughts. I frowned when he looked at me from head to toe.
  • "You know what? If you were not wearing decent clothes, and if you weren’t beautiful, I would think that you are crazy.”
  • I scoffed in disbelief at what he had said. “Wow…" I said in a mocking tone. "Should I say thank you for the compliment? Ha-ha,” I said sarcastically.
  • But when I noticed that he started to feel irritated, by my sarcasm, I smiled sheepishly.
  • “I was just kidding.” I grinned and poked his arm, which had him raised his brows. “By the way, Sir… I came here for a job interview,” I said and smiled at him.
  • “Oh... Is that so? Just go to the reception area and leave your ID. They’ll tell you what floor you need to go to for your interview.” He informed me.
  • I mouthed my thanks and headed immediately to the reception area. “Excuse me, miss.” I smiled at the lady on duty in the reception. “I'm here for an interview as Editor-in-Chief. Where should I meet Mrs. Gonzaga?” I politely asked. The receptionist smiled.
  • “She's not here yet, miss. But you may go to the 39th floor and wait for her there. Just leave your ID here, so I can give you a visitors' pass.” She informed me, in which I immediately give what she was asking for my ID. In return, the lady gave me a visitor’s pass.
  • In this building, one cannot go directly to the elevator. You need to pass through the reception to give you a pass because you have to tap it on the machine that blocks the way through the elevator. To make sure interlopers can't easily pass through.
  • This building was like a 5-star hotel with an elegant lobby is elegant, designed in colors gold and black. There were two large chandeliers hanging side by side in the vast ceiling that seemed to keep on going upwards. The receiving area is spacious, showcasing a grand piano in the corner and several couches strategically positioned to direct the flow of visitors.
  • When I got the pass, I immediately headed for the elevator. Even this contraption looks expensive. It has an accent of gold and the music provided was so relaxing. That even I can hum the song. After pressing the number thirty-nine button, I closed my eyes and let the music lull me. I did not notice that there was someone inside, aside from me, until he groaned.
  • “Miss, shut your mouth, will you?” My eyes widened in surprise at the derisive tone coming from a baritone voice. He had his back on me, so I couldn't see his face much. I frowned and glared at him.
  • The nerve of this guy to order me to shut up. Are we close?! Argh! Whoever you are, I want to break your bones. You look tall and distinguished from back here, but I'm sure my Harry is more handsome-” I stopped hissing and cursing this man in my mind when he turned around. My eyes widened in surprise when I realized who it was.
  • My mouth was agape and couldn’t think of what to do. He is the person I've loved since I set my eyes on him. The person I want to see every day of my waking hours. The only man who made my heart beat this fast.
  • My Moon... My Harry Moon.
