Chapter 15 What A Scum
- The only reason Sally kept spamming Claude with calls and texts was to find a chance to talk to him. Alas, the man was so heartless and even got himself a new assistant!
- Sally was in a fit of rage as she looked up. Coincidentally, she saw Natalie and Claude standing at a distance away. Her gaze trailed down until she saw their interlocking hands. Her eyes immediately widened in shock.
- Claude was talking to Natalie when he looked up and met Sally’s gaze. Under her vicious stare, he hurriedly looked away and released his grip on Natalie’s hand secretly.
- What a scum!
- Natalie cursed silently. I must be blind to fall for a scum like Claude Nealey!
- That only steeled her resolve to take revenge on both of them.
- “Natalie, this is my daughter, Sally.” Ruth didn’t notice the change in Sally’s expression. Neither did she realize how tensed up the atmosphere was. She pulled Sally over and introduced her daughter to them warmly.
- “Sally, this is Natalie Cook. We attend the same yoga class. I love the variety show that she’s hosting. This man is an actor. Introduce yourself to them.”
- Natalie scanned Sally, pretending it was the first time they’ve ever met. She even stretched her hand out. “Ms. Harper, you’ve inherited your good looks from Mrs. Harper. Nice to meet you.”
- Sally glowered at her furiously as jealousy overwhelmed her heart. She was certain Natalie had brought Claude over to her birthday party to gloat.
- I need to talk to Claude in private and tell him about our baby!
- “You’re a host at K2TV, I know who you are.” Sally shook Natalie’s hand. “I think I’ve seen you last time in a restaurant. Ms. Cook, who was the man you were with? Was that your boyfriend?”
- Ruth hurriedly stopped her daughter who was acting rude. “Sally, don’t be rude. This is Natalie’s private affairs. She came today to celebrate your birthday with a friend of hers.”
- “I was just curious,” said Sally. Her gaze was still fixated on Natalie. “I heard you’re the youngest host in the TV station. You’re really capable.”
- As Sally obviously wasn’t going to stop anytime, Ruth felt embarrassed at her actions. She couldn’t reprimand her daughter in public, so she shot Natalie a smile. “Oh, please don’t mind Sally. She has always been this cheeky.”
- “It’s fine. I know she’s curious,” replied Natalie with a grin.
- Oh? So Sally saw me having dinner with Sebastian that day. Luckily, she didn’t see Sebastian’s face. Otherwise, she would’ve mentioned his name to mock me.
- As Sally was being rude, Natalie wasn’t going to back away. She reached out and hooked her arm around Claude.
- She then inched nearer until her body was right next to Claude’s.
- Sally’s gaze darkened instantly while her teeth gritted in anger.
- Natalie flipped her hair back and smiled faintly. “You must’ve seen this friend of mine back then, Ms. Harper. He needs to wear a mask everywhere because of his identity. We’re very close to each other.”
- She deliberately stressed on “very close to each other,” while looking up at Claude. “Claude, tell her. You were the one who had dinner with me, right?”
- Claude had never eaten with Natalie after meeting her again. That man isn’t me. Nat must be doing this on purpose to anger Sally.
- He didn’t know what to say, so he merely knitted his brows silently.
- Suddenly, he felt Natalie’s grip on his arm getting stronger as a soft curve brushed against his arm.
- His throat went dry at the contact. In the end, he nodded. “Yes.”
- “You’re lying!” Sally pointed at Claude angrily, wishing she could separate them right away. “You were with...”
- Natalie flashed a victorious grin. “Ms. Harper, what were you saying? Do you know my boyfriend?”
- Sally swiveled her head and glared at Natalie.
