Chapter 13 I Am Envious
- “Of course not.” Claude forced out a smile.
- He broke up with Sally first, but the latter kicked up a huge fuss for a few days. After breaking up with her, he no longer wanted anything to do with her.
- A moment after they entered the villa, a black Bentley entered the compound.
- Kirk parked the car carefully.
- When Kirk opened the backseat door, his boss’ legs were still crossed while his eyes remained shut.
- “Mr. Hoffman,” Kirk coughed softly before calling out. “You must be tired after getting off the plane from M Nation. If you don’t feel like attending Ms. Harper’s birthday party, why don’t I deliver the gift on your behalf?”
- Sebastian snapped back to reality and grabbed his blazer, stepping out of the car. “Take the gift and come with me.”
- The man was 188cm tall. As he strode ahead gracefully, he spotted an eye-catching pink sports car in the parking lot. It seemed awfully familiar to him.
- “Is that the car I told you to order?” Sebastian inquired.
- Kirk was wondering what his boss was talking about. He followed his boss’ gaze and noticed the speck of pink among the other cars. “Yes, it’s a custom-made Pagani model, one of its kind. I didn’t know they had already delivered it to Ms. Cook. She has been your partner for a long time. Do you know she’s friends with Ms. Harper?”
- Sebastian had been busy working abroad for almost half a month. He finally recalled Natalie after Kirk mentioned her name.
- She said she got bored and wanted to get a boyfriend in real life.
- He scoffed silently. She’s such a sultry woman. No honest man would want to be her boyfriend!
- As Sebastian was suddenly frowning, Kirk’s heart sank. “Mr. Hoffman, did I say something wrong?”
- “Let’s go in.” Sebastian headed toward the villa.
- Kirk glanced at the pink sports car again before catching up with his boss. Natalie should feel lucky for my boss is really generous.
- Led by the helper, Natalie and Claude arrived at the garden.
- The garden had been turned into a gorgeous birthday party venue.
- Majestic magnolia trees were scattered around the venue, their fragrance perfuming the air.
- Natalie scanned the venue, impressed by how lavish Sally’s birthday party was. She studied the impeccably dressed guests invited to the party. Hmm, looks like the Harpers are well-connected.
- I wonder how Brock Harper would react after finding out his daughter is pregnant in public! That must be humiliating!
- At that thought, Natalie sneered silently.
- After noticing Mrs. Harper, she immediately went over to the lady. “Mrs. Harper,” she greeted with a smile.
- Ruth Montgomery, aka Mrs. Harper, was chatting with her friends when Natalie arrived. She welcomed the latter warmly. “Natalie, you’re here? Oh, isn’t this...”
- She gazed at Claude closely and furrowed her brows. “I think I’ve seen him somewhere.”
- “He’s Claude Nealey, an award-winning actor.” Natalie blinked and shot her a sweet smile. “You must’ve seen the trailer of his movie on TV, right?”
- “Oh, no wonder he’s so good-looking. Turns out he’s an actor.” Ruth nodded in acknowledgment.
- “You must adore Ms. Harper a lot to plan this grand birthday party for her,” Natalie teased. An envious expression flitted across her face. “I’m envious of her.”
- Ruth covered her lips and laughed delicately. Pleased, she returned, “Oh, not really. My husband is the one who spoils her. He insists on holding a grand birthday party every year for his beloved daughter.”
- “Yes, you should spoil your only daughter.” Natalie chuckled and handed her the gift. “Mrs. Harper, I’ve prepared a gift for Ms. Harper. Can I talk to her?”
- Claude, who had remained silent throughout the entire exchange, frowned at her request.
